I'm calling it a night. Hope everyone has a great weekend! :goodvibes :grouphug:

My Friday was okay. In Teia's class today we dissected owl pellets (regurgitation). Our group found three rat skulls and a bunch of bones! The kids really were amazed by what an owl eats.

We watched Dead Man's Chest (again) tonight, that always rocks!  pirate: pirate: pirate:

Ewwww!!! I remember doing that. :sad1:

We had a 6th grade field trip where we boarded a bus and went to these cabins way up in the crazy WV mountains.... our cabins were right next to this river we were forced to learn to canoe on and we had to climb Seneca Rocks:::

and then they made us go through some creepy, drippy caves!!!

I'd never hated living in WV more than I did that week.

what's the saying, nice to look at, but you wouldn't want to be there? :scratchin:

I need to turn in too.

I don't do dirt.. :rotfl: :snooty:

Me too. I gotta open up the bank in the morning and I need to not go in like this:  :rolleyes1

Wow...that's what the seventh graders did when I was in 8th grade... (We didn't have to do it...they started it the year after us!:rotfl: PHEW!) And Teia's in...first grade? You guys are way ahead of us down there!:p:rotfl:

:rotfl: That's our good ol' Florida schools with their bad reputation, we are hell bent on catching up!:rotfl:

It was pretty cool! The kids all had to wear surgical masks, that was funny! I did the picking and prying of the pellets, they used charts to classify the bones that we pulled out. Teia's teacher is tough but she also does a lot of interesting things! :teacher:

At least she didnt have to go camping with all of her smelly classmates like I did :rotfl:

My oldest dd did this too but in girl scouts not in school.

It's kinda of neat to hear about what all the differences our in the school systems between the lot of us.

Where in NY do you live again?

I hope she never does! I hated it so much. We were in the only part of WV with black bears, too and I was terrified. I'd just moved here from KY and didn't know anyone and it was required to go w/o a valid excuse... and I HATED every stinkin second of it.. lol

Here is the scary river that was freezing cold and I learned to canoe in.. (Just in case anyone was curious)... WV is pretty but sheesh it's dirty.

The North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac River. :-D

Some of our schools offer a marine science weekend trip to the Keys. It's pretty cool, Logan did it when he was in 5th grade. They snorkel and learn about the ecosystem. I haven't heard any complaints about it though, most people fight to get into it. :confused3

That would be awesome! Not many people mind a trip to the Keys, eh?

But to drag an entire 6th grade class (about 60 of us, I believe) up into the Mountains and FORCE them to dissect things and get dirty is just wrong. It's torture! lol. They act like anyone from WV has a predisposition to be a mountain man or mamma.
