Disney Wonder Sept 3-7, 2006 Part 5

Did you get snow?!! I woke up and got ready for an interview this morning and looked outside and holy crap!!! IT SNOWED!! Did you get snow Vicki?? :confused3

This is the road I live on (See-- very, very close little munchkin institution!)

And my little house.

Pretty but it's sliiiick. Turns to slush in no time flat. I almost died a few times this morning.
Tom lives out on traditional country WV roads and went over a hill, backwards!! My dad (most careful, pain in the butt driver EVER!) did a 360. It's horrible out there!! (Although it doesn't look it :confused3 ..)

We got snow!!:goodvibes So happy!!!:yay: :cloud9:

Whoops, I keep forgetting you're back.

I could really use a picture of the Great Barrier Reef right about now!! ;)

I'm kinda happy to see it snow too, mostly glad I got to see snow before I left!
I'm pretty excited to spend Christmas down south this year, but it'll just be so weird! I knew it wouldn't be the same, me not living at home anymore.. but it'll be really different having it down there! :santa: :santa:

Haha yeah ok i'll upload some pictures now.:goodvibes I just got them on this computer last night right before bed...FINALLY!:rotfl:

Okay...all of these ones came from just snorkelling on my last day in Australia.:goodvibes

starfish.jpg

This is a BLUE starfish!! The first time I saw one was just in a tank...and then I saw a BUNCH out on the reef that day...it was INSANE how many there were!!

clownfish2.jpg

It's...NEMO! Haha, it took me forever to find these guys...and a guide had even pointed them out!:rotfl: Then after lunch I found a BUNCH on my own!:goodvibes

clownfish.jpg

dropoff.jpg

I like to call this the "Drop Off"...LIKE FROM THE MOVIE!:rotfl: Actually...I have a better looking "Drop Off" picture, it's just hiding. I took 548 pictures that day... :rolleyes1

gill.jpg

And then I found Gill.:goodvibes Needless to say I followed him around for a couple minutes snapping pictures of him.:lmao:

giantclam.jpg

There were giant clams ALL OVER THE PLACE! Of course this is an itty bitty one...the smaller ones had the prettier colors.:rotfl: They seriously were bright blues, purples, and teals!

blueclam.jpg

Here's a blue one.:goodvibes

pinkthing.jpg

This is some pink thing that was pretty.:rotfl:

greenthing.jpg

Something green?:rotfl2: (I think it's a feather star...)

After that trip I decided I really did want to be an underwater photographer.:goodvibes

Sure thing...just get SCUBA certified!!:goodvibes

I'm workin on making my beach pictures small enough to upload. :goodvibes

Uhm. Where does one go to get SCUBA certified in WV?? :confused3 :scared:
(I met the guy who runs SCUBA WV.. and he's a bit of a pothead.. )

I hate that with pictures. I always use the biggest setting on my camera and then if I wanna put them online, I've gotta resize them one by one.. :headache:

I'm off to conquer the mountains of laundry I've accumulated at the laundromat! (being unemployed sure is good for catching up on that household type stuff!)

Hope to see more pictures when I get back, Heidi!!

Have a good day! :)

A pothead?? That can't mix well with SCUBA diving... :rotfl:

I know. It's so annoying.:headache: And I tried to make it a smaller setting once and my camera spazzed out on me saying that the pictures would be a poor quality.:rotfl: So I keep it on big...and that way I can edit/crop all I want.:goodvibes

beachfront.jpg

They call their beach "The Strand".:goodvibes

paradise.jpg

My friend drew that in the sand.:goodvibes

beach.jpg

view.jpg

me.jpg

This is me on the strand. So pretty.:goodvibes

palmsandsand.jpg

I like how this one turned out.:goodvibes

rocks.jpg

I absolutely LOVE this picture.:goodvibes

palmtrees.jpg

maggieisland.jpg

This is Magnetic Island. (Aussie's call it "Maggie" for short.)

castlehill.jpg

This is Castle Hill. It was right behind the strand.

castlehill2.jpg

It made a pretty backdrop.:goodvibes

junglegym.jpg

This is some weird jungle gym thing. I had plans to make it to the top...but I just now realized I never went back and did it.:guilty: (The ropes hurt my bare feet...that's why I didn't go all the way to the top the first time.:headache: )

! It is pretty.

Heidi, your pictures are magnificent! Keep them coming, I am in awe...........

What kind of camera do you use? Do you have an underwater housing? (I am advanced open water certified, can I help with your equipment?? )

I have an Olympus Stylus 410 and yup I have underwater housing for it. Vicki gave me the site.:goodvibes I was gonna get it before the September cruise last year but I just didn't have time...but I got it before the Christmas cruise and we had a lot of fun with it.:goodvibes It's a good thing I got it then too, cause I was on the Olympus site the other day and they don't make housing for my camera anymore! (I think it's a touch out-dated.:p)

Sure you can help with the equipment...you're already more certified than me!:rotfl: I thought about going advanced in Australia but it was just so weird diving without Holly...and plus it was a lot of money and I wanted to come home with at least a LITTLE bit left over.:rotfl2:

Heey. Did my job just get stolen by Lisa?? :sad1:

FINE!

I'll carry the luggage.. :rolleyes1 :flower3:

Heey. Did my job just get stolen by Lisa?? :sad1:

Nope! I could use two assistants!! I saw some guy with a BIG (and probably expensive) underwater camera...I could probably use all the help I can get!:rotfl2:

Fear not Patsy, I haven't been diving in over 16 years (thanks to Logan :rotfl: ). Your job is safe. I just wanted to get my foot in the door, just in case.... :rotfl:

These ones came from a place called Cape Tribulation up in the Daintree Rainforest. It's a little further north than Cairns and is the only place in the world where a rainforest "meets" a coral reef.:goodvibes All the underwater pictures came from me SCUBA diving!!:cutie:

frame.jpg

pretty.jpg

It was a really beautiful place.

butterfly.jpg

There are SO many butterflies in Australia, not just in the rainforest!! THere is this REAL pretty blue one called a Ulysses and a picture does not do it justice. It is so vibrantly blue.

palm.jpg

THis is what they mean by rainforest meeting the reef...it comes all the way out to the sand. And up in Cape Trib is where the Great Barrier Reef comes the closest to the shoreline.

prettywater.jpg

It was SO pretty out there.

boat.jpg

And I jumped off the roof of a boat!!:goodvibes

reef.jpg

ray.jpg

It's a stingray but it's hard to see...it was a bit "sedimenty" when we first got down there.

blue.jpg

lightblue.jpg

These corals were absolutely beautiful. My camera captured them pretty good but I still don't think a picture does them justice. They were kinda "blah" colored most of the way through but then a real pretty light blue at the tips. I was just awed.

green.jpg

Green was a popular color during that dive.

cone.jpg

Green and light blue.:p

flowerything.jpg

I'm not sure what these things are but they were real pretty.

seacucumber.jpg

And we all got to hold a sea cucumber!!:goodvibes

scuba.jpg

I had a lot of fun.

ringer.jpg

We went horseback riding before we left Cape Trib...it was a lot of fun too!!:goodvibes

me-1.jpg

And that's just me standing out in front of the ocean.:p
