For some reason, I thought all betta fish (that they sold) were male. That's why they need to be separated from other fish, because they're Japanese fighting fish. I don't know where the heck I learned that though. We have one, Teia named him Jaden.

Logan was going to suggest that you name him Calypso.

We also have four little hermit crabs, one of which Teia named Hermie Jane. Go figure. When she molted & changed shells, Teia said she put on her wedding shell. Scary.

One last note: pet stores usually don't carry female bettas, because they tend to be less colorful and showy than the males. Also, people are usually just looking for a nice pet, not a breeding hobby. If this is your intention, then I suggest doing some serious research before you start!
