Well..I'm not rich, nor thin, and I live in a condo with three kids, a husband and way too many pets and I still find the room for the shoes. :lmao: Old ones, new ones, high ones, low ones, goofy ones, KEWL ones....I got 'em all. :lmao:

To boot (no pun intended) my DD6 probably has DOUBLE the shoes that I have! :lmao:
Maybe you have more closets than I do. I admire your determination to stick with it. I gave up :confused3 no new shoes unless an old pair goes.Off to bed. Visiting friends tomorrow and then camping overnight in our little Rialta (motorhome). I am over 100 pages behind.

OH YES!! I did find a SUPERB facility for mother. SUPERB!! She is on the wait list so will be here in God's time. :) Thanks for the encouragement and support.

Glad to hear that you've found a place that you're comfortable with. :grouphug:

Nighty night all--

When I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, they told me I could only wear special shoes, so I got rid of most of mine. I have a pair of white tennies, a pair of black tennies that I wore to work, a pair of crocs, and now a pair of black mary janes. Yikes! I hadn't realized I had so few shoes that I could wear. I have three pairs of birks that I hid so I didn't have to get rid of them--apparently I've worn them so long that I broke down the arch support. And I have a canvas pair of shoes with Tinkerbell on them that I take out and look at from time to time. :rotfl:

Psht...you say that, but you never mean it. :p I'm going to bed as well, regardless of whether I'm the last one to post. :teeth: I didn't plan anything for the weekend, but somehow things planned themselves. Hope everyone else has a great weekedn!

:thumbsup2 Right on DAWN!! Convenience, comfort and safety in one stretchy package! :thumbsup2

Good morning all. It is 8:15 as I write.

We will be taking our little camper :drive: up near Lake Michigan for a picnic at an Environmental Learning Center (read "camp for city kids to learn about the environment") of which DH was on the Board of directors for years before we moved. We'll see the eye MD up that we like (he has followed DH since before his laser vision surgery and is keeping a close eye on recent developments since DH is one of th 5% who did not get to be glasses-free after surgery.) Camping overnight--somewhere--then home sometime Sunday. Only bad thing is I cannot get internet while we drive so cannot DIS with you.

If anyone particularly cares about details of the SUPERB Alzheimer's facility I found for Mother please let me know if I should post or PM about it. If you are all OK with the fact that I found IT and I am great with the whole concept and reality, then that is good too.::yes::

Lisa--how big is that condo?????

Someone wanted a smilie for drinking water--how about this one? :drinking:

I stoppped by one of our local resale shops looking for uniforms for the kids. I looked in the dress isle b/c youngest dd is such a dress fanatic. So, what do my wandering eyes should appear, but a lilac gingham WALT DISNEY WORLD dress! I gasped and showed the oldest dd right away what I found. I had given our 3T DCL dress to another DISer. I was glad to send it to a new home, but was sad that we had to let it go. I was like this walking out of the resale shop :jumping1:

CAN YOU SEND A PICTURE OF HER IN IT????

ERICA, I love your haircut. Very Sassy! :thumbsup2

gotta go, BBL after church hopefully!
Yup--cute haircut Erica! A lot like mine--we will be twins--born only a :rotfl2: FEW years apart........ :rotfl:

Note in a bottle is not working. RATZ I was going to send a message to my kids.

DH just reminded me that we have an extra hour to watch LILO AND STITCH and KUZCO because Valparaiso is on Central Daylight time and Indianapolis is on Eastern Daylight time.

OHHH--Taeja--I talked to a lady last night who works in an office that monitors state business stuff and writes up the contracts--she said a lot of new business is coming into Indiana because of the daylight savings time change. So when we hear about the new HONDA plant down in Greensburg and other stuff, a big part of that is our time change. I guess the legislators did the right kind of research.

Dawn, thanks for the website you gave me for the pirate shirt! I wasn't going to look at it til I popped in to Hot Topic to see what they had. Since there were no billowy pirate shirts in there I decided to try out the website you gave me and I found the perfect one for me! :cool1: I got the peasant shirt...it looks so cute! :goodvibes I just hope it fits... Now all I have to do is decide whether I want to wear pants or a skirt...and then decide which type of pants/skirt I want! :rotfl: I think I'll wait til I get the shirt to see if I want a skirt or pants...
I saw some knee length pants with lots of buttons that looked like some Elizabeth wore in the movie. They were in the Juniors department at WALMART. No whay I could fit them but you guys might do great in them. The fabric was kind of old-fashioned looking too. Cuffs at the knee and buttons on the sides of the knee if I recall. They would go real well with white knee sox and loafers with buckles on the top. (Buckles can be made by making about 4 layers of silver duct tape, cut it into a rectangle and a cut a hole that is rectangular then slap in on the top of the shoe! I made DH some that way--old loafers he does not wear as they have a hole in the sole--but would be OK for a costume.)

Then you have the older stars-Cheryl Ladd, Mary Tyler Moore etc. with their plastic surgery faces! MTM need to stop now.
MTM needed to stop several procedures ago.
Why do they think they have to look 20 forever? When they try they look like aliens but not cute like :stitch:

Tae Ja posted that I should tell everyone about the place for Mother so here I go.

I interviewed and toured 6--2-3 hours per visit.

One facility stands out from the rest--Sunrise at Carmel. It is the one which has only dementia and Alzheimer's residents. There are 7 neighborhoods in the building with 11-12 residents in each neighborhood.
There is a circular hallway surrounding a courtyard which is visible to staff and accessible to residents. Branching out from the hallway are the neighborhoods--like spokes on a wheel. Three neighborhoods plus common rooms filled with overstuffed furniture, tables, popcorn machine and an ice cream parlor are downstairs and four neighborhoods are upstairs. Neighborhoods consist of a common room with a living-diningroom feel to it. Bedrooms are around the periphery. Residents live in mixed groups so that the more capable can help those with more needs.
Neighborhoods are separated from the circular hallway by only a small fence and a doorway so that all residents can come and go and visit each other and talk over the fence, but there are some boundaries and recognizable landmarks to help residents find their way.
Each neighborhood is decorated differently and has a different theme so residents do not get confused as to which is their home. This helps them find their own neighborhood more easily than they could if all were identical.
Each room of one or two residents has its own bathroom. Bathrooms are very accessible and permit assistance without making the resident feel cramped and crowded.
Decorations in the common spaces are chosen to encourage memories--photos, lovely paintings, quilts, quality art work. One area has a wedding gown hanging on the wall that can be touched and discussed, as well as photos of weddings in frames on a desk nearby. Activities that may be chosen or not (but are encouraged) include people from all neighborhoods.
Fire doors automatically separate the area with a suspected fire from the rest of the building but can be opened to get all the residents to the other side easily and quickly. Fire drills are held to train staff but residents do not know why they are moving to a different place so that they are not unduly alarmed.
This facility is 15 miles from the condo (30-60 minutes depending on traffic) on city streets which a friend from church reports to be some of the first plowed in bad weather as it is a route used daily by commuters.
They have visiting professionals to provide medical, podiatric, dental and vision exams.
I signed a contract and my brother is sending a check so she will be on the waiting list for the next companion room to open up.
SO--in God's timing, Mother will be here. :)
