Where did Heidi go? I was telling her about dirt and then she disappeared. Maybe she is buying some.
Oh hehe...I looked at it but I don't know if I need texture paste? :confused3 Not sure what that's supposed to mean...but it did say it added manageability and conditions and smooths? :p

Hey at least you don't have to do it! :rotfl: :rotfl2:
Actually, with my 6 year old, I might as well be doing it. :rotfl2: She gets a ton of it too, for first grade. Yikes! :crazy2:

I'm sure she'd let you do it if you really feel that way...

Her teacher would kill me. I actually got yelled at for reading her book with her. Sheez! She's 6!!!!!!!!!!!!! popcorn::

My DD's teachers still encourage me to read to her and she is in 5th grade. Even with AR stuff. They said it encourages inflection and helps with words she might just skip over if she did not know. She of course reads regular chapter books so I usually read one chapter then her and so on.

See? That's what I have ALWAYS done! I got an entire lecture on how I should NEVER read the A.R. book to DD. I mentioned that I'll re-read a paragraph after DD if she has struggled with it, and she yelled at me for THAT too. I honestly don't get it. :confused3 She told me to read any other book to her but not her AR book. Well, let me tell you....she has to read and test on FIVE books a week, one of which is a chapter book. When the heck would we ever have time to read a book that's NOT AR???? JEEZ LOUISE! :confused3 :furious:

Who is this lady? AR is meant to be paced program based on the students ability not on her demands. That is way to much for a 6 year old plus homework. She is going to burn out and not enjoy reading.

I can't agree with you more. Thing is, they have pushed this with all three of my kids. And for the most part, it has backfired. Instead of loving reading, they avoid it at all cost! On top of that reading, she has three homework sheets and there's also a huge DOLCH reading sheet, two sided, which she is supposed to practice...along with phonograms. Can you say YIKES! When I tell you that there's no time for anything but homework, I mean it. This week, dance starts for us on Tuesdays & Thursdays. We should be dead by Friday. :lmao:
