Still no picture of me. I guess it just might not happen. Sigh!

WOW Everyone looks awesome! No pic of you though :sad2: I rarely get a pic of me but to be honest, that suits me just fine. I'm much more photogenic BEHIND the lens than in front of it. I might just break the darned thing! :teeth: :lmao: Yick!

Love seeing these pics and getting to know you all a bit more. I think we're going to have a blast! :wave2:

Thanks for sharing!

The more I stand up and sit down :yay: the better my knees are doing. I saw two homecare clients today and the leather driver's seat of my van was HOT from sitting parked in the SUN :sunny: that was therapy too for the sore backs of my thighs. SO, now, 24 hours later, I am feeling pretty darn good. As I think about it, I don't think I have been on that bike in about 20 years or more. Not to shabby.....
Jan :earsgirl:
I actually BOUGHT a bike a few years ago. That's about it, bought it, never rode it. It rotted in our shed. Sad, isn't it?!? Alas, part of the reason I'm POOH sized. Too much fluff and not enough activity. Things were different in the days BEFORE the internet. Then they HAD TO GO AND BUILD THAT McDONALD'S ON OUR CORNER. That was the end for me!

No, sorry, no map here. We've got the sword, the telescope (we have an extra, too), the chest, and the book thingie with the compass on it. Oh, and a cannibal doll. I want the Jack doll, LOL!

Here is a picture of the stitch head hat...I'm still nervous about posting pictures of my kids, so I reserved the right to come back and remove my picture!

Yup--weird hat.

Dawn, is your DD 7? Mine is 6 (going on 16). I think she's going to get a real kick out of meeting everyone's kids!

Anyhow, they're wonderful. My whole dog gallery is right here - it's 2 pages total. I'll see if I can find a recent pic of DH and I too!

Oh my gosh, your dog gallery is great! I laughed out loud reading your narration! :rotfl: They are beautiful dogs, and they look like they've been together since birth. They're awesome! Looks like you have a lot of fun with them!

That's right, you made those costumes. You're amazing!!! :thumbsup2

Those costumes are so good. Great pics of every one's family. My husband will probably kill me if he sees that I posted pics of the kids.

Now to vent,

As you guys know my husband is a cast member. We booked a land/sea package that he is able to receive. We did get a discount but nothing to write home to mom about. We were not able to purchase the free dining which I was fine with. Now I here we can't get CM discounts on our food because they black out discounts during free dining. I have some things to say about that but I won't. Any suggestions? We will be at WDW for 5 days and have to pay full price on all food. :furious:

LMAO I'm so sorry I gave you that impression! No, I bought the dress my daughter is in--the day the picture was taken, as a matter of fact. My son is in an old shirt and pants my husband bought ages ago, and a vest I bought at Goodwill, and my belt from Wal-Mart. My husband is in a very expensive doublet bought at the Festival 13 years ago, and his friend is in a doublet we actually own that we paid a seamstress to make for us. I did, however, make all of the cloaks that my family is wearing. My children have never "allowed" me to make their costumes, and my husband doesn't wear the doublet that I made for him anymore--maybe because he feels odd wearing it when I'm not wearing my matching dress, or maybe because I follow him around bugging him to be careful with it because I won't repair it. :lmao: I don't know that my quality is quite up to the level of the one he's wearing now LOL.

I have no suggestions on what you can do to change the status of the dining situation. It doesn't surprise me though.

We do a lot of quick weekends at WDW and we try our best to keep cost down. Where are you staying again? If your hotel doesn't have a fridge in the room, either request one or bring a cooler that you can keep full of ice. We usually bring drinks, sandwich meats and bread/rolls and make sandwiches to bring into the park. (SHHHH, on the other threads I'd be in DIS Hell for admitting this :scared: :duck: ). If you have an in room fridge, it will be easier as you can use refreezable ice packs and carry them with you. We also pack a loaf of bread and peanut butter & jelly. If you bring Pop Tarts, even cereal & milk and stuff like that for your room, and then make lunches, your biggest expense will be dinner. That's better than three meals a day. The food courts at the hotels are usually pretty reasonable and we have always liked the food. There are places in the parks where you can get quick meals that aren't too costly.

By the way, you don't actually have to break any rules by bringing food to the parks, you can always run back to your hotel to eat and then head back.

It's not a perfect situation, but it will certainly help to keep cost down. We have taken many trips where we've scrimped so that we could have an extra weekend at WDW. Hope that helps.

Thanks Lisa,

I guess I should not be surprised either. I will bring a cooler for the ship anyways. We won't have a car but I guess I can order from the grocery stores. Maybe it is just disappointment more than anything.

It may actually be worth it for you to rent a car for a day or two and venture out to get some stuff.

My SIL is also a CM and I am amazed at what she doesn't get from the company, especially in relation to the low pay she gets. It's a wonder anyone can afford to work there.

I hope it works out for you. Nothing like wasting a ton of money BEFORE you even leave the port.

What hotel are you staying in? My husband and I are brainstorming ideas for you.

Have you seen a sleep specialist for this? :confused3
Jan :earsgirl:

Not exactly.
I've seen "specialists" for the past three years. I've been on every kind of sleep medication there is.. even the ones that aren't to be taken more than a week, I've had a constant prescription to. They don't work. They've tried therapy.. thinking I just had 'issues'.. not sure how I had 'issues' that have persisted for ten years, but oh well .. i did what the doctors told me.. I've taken anti-depressants, anti-anxiety pills.. and the only 'sleep clinics' around here (within a 3 hour drive) don't support my type of problem, much less the severity of it. They're for people with sleep apnea, snoring issues.. etc.
I'd have to go to Cincinnati and at this point I can't afford it.. my surgeon is through St. Josephs Hospital in Lexington, KY and I can barely afford the time off work and gas to get there at this point.
I'm also fed up with fighting with my insurance company.. er, well.. my dads. Between work and school (I've got 18 credit hours this fall.. joy!) sometimes the insomnia is a blessing in disguise.. but other times it kills me (like now) and causes major physical harm...
guess I just need to pick the lesser of two evils..

We are staying at POR from August 29 until cruise. I have not even told my DH that I found this out today and we just got our electric bill for $800.00. Good old Southern California Edison. Any suggestions are welcomed thanks. :listen:

WOW. That is some bill. I freaked out at our $200 this month, guess I have nothing to complain about!

(well, except for the slab leak that developed over the weekend, but I'm still in denial about that one)

DH suggests taking the bus to Downtown Disney......not exactly easy or cheap, but they DO have a McDonalds (I know, I know....) and a few other little snacky-type places. :guilty:

Is it possible to mail some breakfast and lunch staples? I know people mail things to DCL all the time, I just have no idea how it works. Maybe someone else has a better suggestion than me.....could always do Epcot for meals, you can share a veggie lo-mein in "China" for $5 and it will feed two! :confused3

Not much help, sorry.....

mom_of_2_princesses said:
No thats good. I just have never been there so any suggestions are good. :thumbsup2

Epcot is fabulous for cheap lunches.....also bring a water bottle and refill at the fountains :) short tram ride from WDW!
