Warning: :offtopic: :offtopic: :offtopic: This is very off topic!

I am really struggling here so I need some pixie dust.

My former Director and I had a lunch meeting today. My old boss (the Assistant Director) got a promotion to another area leaving an opening. My Director wants me to come back and is offering a healthy raise and lots of learning/development/advancement potential. She is retiring in 5 years and being the Asst will give me a really good shot at her job if the climate is right. When I worked for her previously it was good in terms of gaining knowledge and she was good at increasing my salary HOWEVER she has these emotional outbursts when she is stressed. Essentially she lacks a filter for her frustration. Now I NEVER experienced this personally. Others did and I heard two incidents in the 18 months I worked for her.

Sorry this is too long. I guess I'm nervous to go back but at the same time it is such a great opportunity. I love my current boss but essentially I have no where to advance to at my current job. I can love my co-workers and environment but it doesn't pay the bills or get me on a 7 day cruise either.

I guess I just need Pixie Dust to help me figure out what to do. I have to give her a decision tomorrow morning.

Thanks in advance :thanks: :disrocks:

P.S. She scored points by saying I could start after my cruise ;) :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

I almost had an accident a few days after we bought our new(est) car...I was driving down a major street and saw movement out of the corner of my eye...a truck had rolled out of the parking lot to my right! It was on the side of a huge hill, so it just hopped right over the curb and kept on going! All I could think was, "It's the first time I get to drive this car and now I'm going to wreck it!" I hit the brakes, but of course anti-lock brakes don't let you slow down very quickly. I swear that the truck missed me by inches. It rolled past in front of me and into someone in the left turn lane. I had to pull over, I was shaking so hard. The kids couldn't figure out why I was freaked out...they thought it was funny.

I'm so glad you're okay Dawn, and didnt get squished :grouphug:

Okay, I guess it's my day to tell stories, and you all are my captive audience...run away now if you don't want to hear it! :rotfl:

Saturday night, my family was camping on site at the Renaissance Festival. After dark, we all went into the wide open area by the front gate, and someone handed out light sabers. There were easily 20 to 30 light sabers. All of the kids and adults were swinging the light sabers around, fighting with each other, and it's in the middle of nowhere so there were no lights other than the light sabers. It was beautiful! I snapped a bunch of pictures which look like blurry lights on a dark background  and I thought, I hope this is one of those moments that my kids take into adulthood, that they remember for the rest of their lives.

Gosh, this is probably a thread killer...but don't tell me if it is, I don't want to know.

Dawn

Ooooh that sounds really pretty (and fun!). Not a thread killer at all. I'm glad you told us about it.

I bet your kids will remember it for a long time. In fact I can picture it now.... it's a few years later, they're hanging out by the Goofy Pool with kids of their own, they'll be sipping Konk Koolers and annoying the little ones with tales of.... "hey do you remember that one time at the festival, it was all dark and we had those sabers....." man those were the days. And grandma dawn will just sit there and smile....

haha, I just made you a grandma! hmmm that didn't come out right AT ALL

suzanne,

I have a feeling we may end up in some other DISer's trip report (one that didn't particpate in the thread)

I constantly see DISer's turning their noses up at "those parents who party" in their reports.

hahahahahaha that always kills me. Like "hi, I'm am better than you because I don't drink and aren't you just awful" :drinking1

***internet side note: this does not mean that "my ladies" on the thread who don't drink are like this. just the snoots that post about it in their trip reports.*****

This is our Jack Sparrow, last year with my daughter. I got pictures this year, but the camera took a little trip and I don't have it available for download right now.

CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTEEEEEEE!

(oh yeah and your daughter is pretty nice too :rotfl: )

I'm trying to order the wristbands and the site doesn't want my $$$. go figure. I'll have to call tomorrow and then try reordering again. Their site is giving me an attitude!

I have to go make dinner. We are having salmon, sweet potatoes and asparagus.

Then I have to contemplate. I'll share my decision tomorrow.....

Please do not create 10 pages. I am too busy at work (since I was out yesterday) to play ctach up and I am doing happy hour tomorrow night with the girls!

Kerry,
I was trying to post to you before you left but I had to switch computers.
Do what your heart is telling you. If you can handle this lady and think it it the best thing for your family then GO FOR IT. Good Luck! pixiedust:

Good luck, Kerry! Whatever you decide is fine with me! :thumbsup2 It sounds like you already know what you'd like to do, but the emotional outbursts are making you hesitate.

I have seen that. I thought what do these people care what other people do with their vacation. I wish I could drink but I take a medication that does not allow me to. Otherwise I would be right there with you. Those type of people are miserable and just have to find a fault in everyone around them. Too bad they won't be having fun with us.

Well, you already know about the postion already right? Maybe? What about hours? would they change? would you still have the same amt of time w/ Jared and Kevin as you do now. Yes, she was very generous to offer the position after you returned. Is this a job you would like to venture? Do you want to be in these shoes? Do you kow the people who'd be under you? Hitting the ceiling of where you are at now....hmmm. Think about any sacrafices you'd have to make for this new job. I'm sure you will make the right decision. I'm sorry you weren't given longer time to think about it. You know we'll all support you either way. :grouphug:

Emotional outburst...could you handle it? I guess if you could stay away from it it would be to your advantage. Tough having a boss than can blow up at you. :furious: Wow, hmmm. Would you be able to sotmp out the embers before your boss became the blazing fire ...catch my analogy?
