Disney Wonder - October 14, 2012 - Hawaii

I'd realy like some input about dinning times. This is our fourth DC. We have no children. We've always had second seating for dinner. This cruise we have first seating. Part of me thinks that it will give us more time in the evening to do things. But part of me pictures a noisier slightly rushed environment. Can any one tell me if we should ask for a change?

I much prefer second dining myself. I have never liked to rush back from ports and I dont want to feel like I need to rush to get a good seat for the show in the WDT at night too.

This is our second cruise, but we had second dining time both. We're not used to eat that early and we had no rush before dinner. And after dinner we had enough time to go to the bar etc.
But if you want to get switch from early to second. I know there is someone who want to switch from second to early. Perhaps you can take each others place. It's Rebecca 27690, perhaps you can contact her?

Hello again. I was just wondering if anyone from this cruise would like to do a pin trade from our April cruise. I have a whole set to trade. So please let me know. Thanks.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
I bought a set of the April pins on e-bay right as soon as I saw them. I was hoping it would be the same set for the Oct cruise so I wouldn't have to bother getting them. I spent hours and hours waiting in line for the pins from the reloc cruise in Jan, 2011. Meet some great people waiting in those lines but have no desire to waste the time in lines again.Have 4 complete sets. If the pins are different on the Oct Hawaiian cruise, I'll trade with you.

There's pro's and cons for what dinner seating you have. First seating you are a little more rushed to get back to the ship from shore excursions. It probably is a little noiser, younger kids at that seating. However, on second seating, on pirates night, you're just finishing up dinner and they have this whole spread of food. Too full to participate. They also use to have a huge dessert night, again too full after second dining. But as far as I can tell that was one of the cuts the cruiseline did.

I like 2nd dining! And my personal opinoin is that the spread of food for pirate night on deck looks much better than it tastes.so I prefer to miss it.

This will be our 10th cruise with Disney & I can't wait! We were on The Wonder to Alaska in July 2011 and were pleased with the addition of the upstairs observation deck portion in the adults only Quiet Cove Cafe! This will be a wonderful way to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and looking forward to lots of good times with lots of good people! Aloha!

I've only done one Disney cruise. I had early dining and it felt rushed. I have late dining this time.

We usually have the 8:15pm seating when traveling out of the East, but when we go out of CA or Seattle we find it 's an easier adjustment to the time change if we eat earlier. We have no children with us (not until they're older anyway - niece's & nephews), but we find both seatings seem to have about the same amount of "Littles" & the noise level is always loud - anytime, soooo...

We've always done early dining, that's just the way we're wired, except for our our Med cruise in 2010. Many of the port days (and there were a lot) we had long 8-9 hour tours, and we would be arriving back at the ship too late for early dining. So we opted for late. We won't be doing that again, unless we have to.

While the atmosphere was a bit more relaxed, we just can't eat that much and go directly to bed (and we are early to bed types), so it was rough on our tummies.

OH, and BTW, we got our cruise documents today, Yay:banana:

here is payment Info for the Lanyards.:beach:
Please paypal me kevin3841@sbcglobal.net as a gift (So they don't take money out of my end since I'm not making any money on this :) The cost is $2.25 per lanyard. Please include your name and cabin # in the notes section. Thank you!!

Only 1 month for me..then Carsland, Ghiradelli and the Wonder..YEAH:dance3:

Is anyone renting a car in Maui? If so, who are you renting from?

Enterprise has a great cruise port location, but it closes at 6pm and doesn't allow after-hours drop-offs. (We're at Maui until 9:30.)

Enterprise also has an airport location, but there's no shuttle and they don't do "pick up at the cruise port, drop off at the airport".

We're also renting on Kauai (but not Hawaii or Oahu). Does anyone offer multi-island deals?

Are you a Part of the Fish Extender Exchange? If so here is the final list.

Fish Extender list info: This is a list of those that wish to participate in putting gifts (purchased or homemade items) in other's "extenders" (anything hanging off the "fish" outside the stateroom door that is generally used to receive mail/etc. to your room) and receive same from others. If you have any questions about this- please feel free to email me and I will gladly explain in more detail.

FE Exchange

There was a question posted on the Disboards recently by someone asking about the origin of the FE exchange-

Did they have any idea that it would become a tradition?

One person can have huge impact.

THANX!

Debbie (EpcotKilterFan on the DIS)
Yes I am the instigator of the Fish Extender I had NO idea that it would get this big. I still laugh when I see LONG threads about fish extenders and their gifts.

The intent is to share with other DISr's. Put a gift in and if you get a gift in return that is a bonus! I always have fun passing out the FE gifts on the cruise.
My favorite quote from a guest in the hallway was.... "those things hanging on the doors must mean that there are children in the room"

I am glad the tradition continues and can't believe I innocently started a phenomenon 4 years ago on the FIRST time through the Panama Canal

The FE is not intended to be a gift exchange, that’s what Secret Mickeys are for. If the thought of giving gifts to 100 cabins is overwhelming then don’t, just give what you want to whom you want. It’s giving not receiving....that’s what Pixie Dust is all about.

So there you have it!

Now on to the Fish Extender List

I will also list it as a DOC on the FACEBOOK GROUP.

Scrapbook Exchange

For each participant on the list, you give a scrapbook item, themed for this cruise of course, to embellish a scrapbook page-not an entire page. This is an exchange of embellishments only, there is no workshop or class.

Below is a list of people who want to participate in the Scrap Book Exchange.

I will also list it as a DOC on the FACEBOOK GROUP.

Postcard Swap

You give a postcard from your hometown/state/country to each person/cabin on the list. They in turn will leave one for you. It is always nice, if you wish, to enclose a short message on the back of the postcard. You can pop this into the FE if the recipient has one, or place it directly into the fish or slip it under the door if there is no FE. At the end of the cruise, you will have a nice collection of pictures/cards from around the world from your new DIS friends!

Below is a list of people who want to participate in the Postcard Swap.

7990409647_f23e029f68_z.jpg

Candy Swap

For each person on the list, you leave a small (think snack or Halloween sized) treat. This could be your favorite chocolate bar, something unique to your area, or a wrapped candy or two. They, in turn, will do the same. It is important to note how many participants are in each cabin, they may be four people in a cabin but may only one is participating, or maybe all. We don’t want to cause a war because four grownups are trying to share one mini chocolate bar! LOL

Below is a list of people who want to participate in the Candy Swap.
