Thanks Tink!
We were thinking of joining the FE group (it looks like so much fun), but were worried it might be a bit overwhelming for our first cruise. So many things to plan!

I completely understand. That is exactly why we kept our groups small (only 10 cabins per group ). If you decide to jump in and share in the fun, just let me know. I can get you assigned to a group. If you get a chance, read back through the rest of this thread. I have made several posts to help new Disney cruisers prepare for the cruise.

I have been making my way through the rest of the thread and WOW! Thanks for the heads up about parking. I went ahead and reserved a place at the port and got an early online discount. One less thing to worry about now. Now we just have to begin packing (and figuring out a way to hide it).

Well, I am happy that 3/4s of our family is packed (well everything except socks, under wear and such ). The other 1/4 is not in our cabin, and is insisting that he's got it. So, our cabin is packed, and our young adult, first time in his own cabin is, well.....um....he has almost everything he needs. Now for it to find its way to a suitcase :scared::sad2::worship:
Our problem is hiding the suitcases from the cat. As soon as he spots those and clothes start getting put in, he knows that we are going some place that is to far away to feed him for the night (or for the rest of his existence is probably more how he sees it ). When he makes that connection he is on a mission to get himself in trouble. By this I mean doing things like taking on a pit bull or a copper head. Granted, he is a serval (which is close in size to a baby tiger or a small bobcat :simba:, but he is not quite as big as he thinks he is :chewy:. He keeps raising the bar, and making more difficult to leave him w/out a pet sitter. Our last cruise was the pit bull fight. The dog got hold of the skin under his tail, and skinned him down to, and a little past his male parts. This definitely earned him the cone of shame. Hopefully getting the bags out this early will give us the chance to heal what ever he comes home with before Thanksgiving.
Oh, and I am glad you found something helpful in the thread!

Can anyone give me an idea on how much sunscreen we should bring? And should we get water shoes?

Can anyone give me an idea on how much sunscreen we should bring? And should we get water shoes?
Well, that really depends on how much time y'all will be spending in the sun! :beach:
Our family of 4 buys a new 8 oz. Bottle of sunscreen for the cruise, and that has always proven to be sufficient. Keeping in mind that I have skin cancer so along with staying pretty much covered up, I also slather on sunscreen from head to toe each day.
I think a good gage for your family would be to think about how much you would usually use on a typical 1 week vacation to Disney World. That would be enough for the cruise as well.
Now as for water shoes, that is a personal preference. When on board I prefer to wear flip flops when I am heading to the pool or hot tub. Which is doable for you and your husband, but flip flops are a little harder to keep on 2 year olds. You may want to find slip on sandals for the boys if you want them to be shoeless in the water. When we go ashore at castaway cay, or on a beach / water excursion, we wear our water shoes. Growing up on the Texas rivers, river shoes were always a part of my shoe allotment for the year (even before actual river shoes were sold, we used light weight tennis shoes ). There is no quicker way to bring the water fun to an end than to get something in your foot.
A few years back, we did the sting ray excursion at castaway, and I left my shoes at the check in booth where I picked up my fins and life vest. I was not even thinking about something possibly being in the sand between the sting ray pavilion and the check in. That was my mistake. After our swim with the rays, I slipped off my fins, and started to walk back to check everything in. Along the way, I stepped on something in the sand. We assume it was a bee, based on how I reacted. I used my epi pen, and when back on board I took some benadryl. I tend to forget that Disney magic can't keep nature from being nature. So, my lesson was 'Shoes on'. They don't have to be water shoes, but when you are around water, it just makes things easier.
If you are going to be buying water shoes, I would do it asap. We have found the further we get away from summer season, the harder they are to find (even when living on the river ).

Ok. Thanks. We have rash guards for the boys to swim in so that may help keep the sunscreen amount. My husband and I already have water shoes but we will need to get some for the boys. He wants to wait because they are growing so fast he doesn't want them to be too small before we leave. If I can find some I may buy up a size just in case.

That is a good idea. Don't forget to pack the plastic bag for shoes that may still be wet when packing.

Beachie_keen, you have been added into group 2. As soon as I get a reply back with all of your info, I will get it put into the spread sheet. When you are ready to get started on your FE's, and you want the list (spreadsheet), just let me know.

Okkie Dokkie folks, I spoke with the Disney events coordinator assigned to our group yesterday. She told me that we can schedule a room (with the Wonders cast approval) for any day and time we select. The room reservation is free of charge. However, because of the increasing number of reservation requests across the fleet, they have created a 'menu' for selecting add ons (they previously did offer the choice of making special requests, but they are no longer able to meet all of the special requests that were being made). Also, if we would like to add any of these 'menu' items to our meet and greet, there is a charge. I will attach the pictures below so that you may see all of the options. I have circle the options that I thought were closest to an ice cream social in red. I also circled the mixology in red for those that were interested in that. We do not have to add any of these options if we do not want to. In my opinion, it is the people that make the meet and mingle, not the environment. And as far as drinks go, we can bring any drink we have picked up prior to the meet and great with us, the same goes for food items.
Please take a look, and give me some feed back on your thoughts.

Hello! The Moore Family would like to join the Roll Call. Question - does this cruise date have a Facebook page? If so, may we join? Thanks!!

Welcome aboard Moore Family! We need to talk, that is my mom's maiden name! I wonder if we may be related????
:welcome::welcome::welcome:

I think there is a FB page, but we are not linked with them. Sorry I can not be of any help there.

On the previous page there is a list of group activities, plus we have an FE sign up. If you are interested in any of these, just let me know, and we will get you set up.
And if you have any questions, feel free to post, and I will do my best to help. If I don't know the answer, I will gladly partake in one of my favorite pass times (doing Disney research :D). Also, if you have time, there is a great deal of information in the previous posts / pages, so take some time to catch up.

Have a great weekend,

I have a suggestion for the Cabin Crawl. What if we made it a family fun activity. Instead of the possibility of including Poker, what if we did something more like Trashetball (kind of like basketball, but with a trash can). We can try to accrue points at each cabin and the highest score wins. That way we get to see all the different cabins and have a little fun (along with avoiding boredom for some...such as those with short attention spans {won't mention any names Emperor Tim} and children).

Trooper, that sounds like fun. If you can put a 'game plan' together for that activity, we will see what everyone else thinks.

Hope everyone is having a fun and safe Labor Day.
Here is this weeks Forget Me Not's.....

This week is a tip I wish I would have gotten before my first cruise.
Don't forget to pack an extra swim suit.
Because of cruise line regulation and Maritime Law, we are not aloud to put our swim suits out on our veranda to dry. Plus, the cramped, air conditioned bathroom is not conducive to swim suit speed dry. That means that after enjoying the pool or the hot tub on day one, you will most likely still have a wet swim suit on day 2. And it is bad enough making the journey from the pool deck to your room in a wet swim suit because of the air conditioned corridors and elevators you have to use to get there. I am typically as frozen as a Mickey bar by the time I get back to my room. However, come the next morning, when you want to put your swim suit back on to head up to the pool deck again (after a hearty breakfast of course....remember "Wait 1 hour before entering the water" :P), you find that instead of drying your swim suit, the air conditioner has chilled it to an uncomfortable, almost frost bitten temperature. So, unless you have remembered to bring an extra swim suit, you have to put on this frozen suit :cold:, and endure its chill, and the chill of the corridors back up to the pool deck ( where the 76 degree water will feel warm :sunny:).
