I've been lurking here for a long time. We have four cabins on deck 7.
My husband and I are bringing two of our grandchildren from Minnesota - Granddaughter - will be 16 in December and Grandson - 14.
We are flying in on Thursday to have Thanksgiving at our daughter's house. She will be joining us on the cruise with her husband and 2 year old daughter.
His sister and mother, another friend and her mom will be with us also.
This is our 11th Disney cruise - just went on the DVC in August by ourselves. We learned that it's more fun with kids and lots of friends!
We were hoping to escape the winter but it's been very mild here. 50's and 60's in November in Minnesota!! Unheard of - last year at this time we had 16 inches of snow!
Hope to meet some new people and make more friends!

Well, we would love to have you join us at the ice cream social and /or the Meet and Mingle.

~Tink ~

The ice cream social is first. It is on our 1st sea day.
The Meet and Mingle is on our last sea day

I am so ready to cruise (but not near ready "ready" - ugh!) I'm at the point where I don't know how I will get everything done with the time I have left! We are planning on a Moody Gardens Thanksgiving this year just so we don't have to worry about cooking, cleaning and LEFTOVERS. I have all the special bits and pieces ordered and on their way (matching ties for DH/DS, pirate garb to replace outgrown pieces, etc). Now I need to decide what ears to bring and where the heck I'm going to put all this stuff!

Moody Gardens is a great idea for a no mess, no left over plan. We are doing a very small Thanksgiving with my mom on the Sunday before we leave, and then probably doing Cracker Barrel mid day on Thanksgiving (after we check in to the hotel).
If space is a problem w/ packing, about 2 years back, I started separating everyone's outfits out in to individual stacks, and then putting each outfit in it's own ziplock baggie. If you seal the top almost all of the way, and then roll the bag from the bottom, zipping the rest when you reach the top. Voila, you have a cheap version of storage bags. When we pack this way, we are able to get 2 adults, and 1 teens clothes in to 1 suitcase, plus 1 hanging bag for dress clothes, and 1 bag for shoes etc. Bonus when you unpack into the drawers, you just arrange the bags by days, and you are all set.
As for the ears, you wear them of course!!!

Yes, this! I do daily outfits for the kiddo (at least for day clothes) - sooo much easier where he can just grab a bag and get ready. I roll the rest of ours - it stays relatively wrinkle-free and you can pack so much more that way! And thank you for the hanging bag reminder - I have to track that down very soon! I still can't fathom folks that cruise with just an itty-bitty carry-on style bag. Good for them, but not me! My biggest problem is where to put all the FE goodies and decorations. I have a small (Mickey!) suitcase that I am hoping to fit everything in.

Suits and formals go to the dry cleaners tonight......then straight into the hanging bag when I pick them up!

We are putting our FE's in our carry on's (mostly). My carry on is attached to my wheel chair, so it does not take up much room. Then my hubby will be using something that looks like a storage cube, but it is hard sided, with wheels and an extendable handle. Best part is that it is completely collapsible. If we find that we need to carry more on, we can put one of our bags that we use to put under the seat when flying, on the top of the rolling cube. My only concern as far as space goes is the 2 bottles of wine. We are putting them in my cowboy boots, and then putting those in the rolling cube. I just hope we aren't underestimating how much room they are going to need.
I have to split the pirate FE's up though. I will carry on 1 portion of them to keep that portion safe. Then I luckily had room in the shoe bag for the rest.

Ohhhh that is a great idea! I have a storage cube on wheels thing like you speak of - I LOVE that idea! Thank you! :love2: I also have a little bag on wheels that has a seat that folds down - perfect for little boys that don't like to stand in line during embarkation - I can use that, too! And...I need to pick up my couple bottles of wine also. We just realized a week or so ago that our 17th wedding anniversary is the last night of the cruise - what awesome (accidental) planning!! :cloud9:

Also, I've seen other threads (and maybe here) whether or not you label all of your FEs that you give out - I label some, but some are just mystery little goodies that appear. I've even been known to make extra magnets and stick them on surrounding cabins just for fun and a tiny extra bit of magic. I'm glad we have small groups - the last Disney cruise I was one there were 2 FE groups. Our group of 5 (the latecomers) and EVERYONE else. They had a HUGE group, too. I much prefer the little groups.

Are there any of you that might have a DS or DD close in age (6-10ish) that might want to meet up with my DS that might be interested in going to the kids' club together? The kid makes friends everywhere he goes, but he's worried he might not find someone to hang out with some of the time!

Wow! That is awesome accidental planning! Happy early anniversary (in case I forget to tell you on board).
I make tags for some of the gifts that give hints as to who they are from, but I like the rest to be secret surprises. Like you, I sprinkle pixie dust all around, making special magic moments. I have selected several specialized gifts for people who I have gotten to know, that will show up at some point in the cruise, and I like to give extra little treats too!

Question, when you go to the parks, do like to do RAM's (Random Acts of Magic)?

Thank you!! :)

Totally do RAM's! One of our favorites (and we will also do during pirate night on the ship!) is pass out glow sticks (bracelets and/or necklaces). We usually go during slow times so not a lot of wait time, but we try to do something fun or nice for other folks when we can!

On one of our trips to the parks was over my birthday, so my hubby and the boys got me a birthday Princess hat (it was one of those tall pointed cone types with flowing ribbons, and was plush like a stuffed toy). I spent a good part of the morning making my way around the park collecting all of the characters signatures and birthday wishes (I got really lucky at one signing spot, several characters happen to be back stage at the time, and they took us back to fill up the hat with hard to get signatures ). When the hat was full, I set out to find another birthday Princess. When I found just the right Princess who looked like she needed a little magic (as did her mom), I told her that the hat was a very special birthday hat, and that Mickey and the Gang wanted me to find a special little Princess that would do a good job of looking after it. Her eyes lit up, and a smile came across her mom's face.
That is what sharing the magic is all about to me and my family. Finding a way to make other's Disney experience as memorable as possible.

That is a wonderful RAM!! :lovestruc
