Disney Wonder Mexico Oct 9 2011

Yes, we should get an FE list started. If no one else wants to, I'll do it I guess. Start posting info in this thread or PM me.

:cool1: The Miller family from Kansas has booked and paid for our 10-9 cruise on the Wonder. My wife and I have cruised several times before on other lines, but this will be our first DCL trip, and also our first with our two daughters ages 5 (Paige) and 9 (Adrian). My two girls are very excited about the trip and talk about it all the time. We will also be traveling with my sister, her daughter (Brianna age 5) my mom and my step-father who will all be in a different room. They have been assigned a room on deck 4.

I have been taking the advice of others on these boards and have already made reservations to Palos for a dinner and a brunch. It sounds incredible, and I cant wait for these meals.

We are booked on deck 5C currently, but they have not assigned a room to us yet. Not sure why we are still unassigned. Hmm.

Any fisherman out there? My step-father and I are very interested in deep sea fishing in Cabo and are trying to decide if we should do the Disney excursion trip or just book a reservation ourselves with one of the many companies in Cabo offering trips. If there are any other fisherman out there that might want to join the two of us, please let me know. October in Cabo is the peak Marlin time of the year I have read. Many Marlin tournaments take place around the same time frame of our cruise. The fishing will hopefully be very good.

Looking forward to the cruise and hopefully meeting some of you. Only 73 days away! :dance3:

PS I dont really understand what this "FE" thing is, but I have heard from a friend of mine that works at Disney that it is fun. If it gets organized (and our family actually gets assigned a room number), then we are in.

The FE is a gift exchange, in simple terms. The actual term "Fish Extender" is used to describe a little bag of sorts that people make that hangs from the fish outside of the stateroom doors. It's a lot of fun to come back to your room and see what people have left for you!

Hello, My name is Brandy and I'm from Los Angeles. My family and I will be on this cruise as well. :cool1:

This is our third Disney Cruise and second Mexican Riviera Cruise with DCL.
We had a great time on our last MR cruise. I'm not that disappointed about not stopping in Mazatlan but we really do not get to spend a whole lot of time in Cabo. It's not really two full days. I really enjoy being in Cabo.

I will be traveling with my Husband and three daughters ages 15 months (Twins) and 19 yrs. We're celebrating our Wedding Anniversary and my Birthday.

Brandy:goodvibes

:banana::yay:We just booked!!!:yay::banana:

We are very, very excited to be going on our very first cruise ever!! It is me, DH, and DDs 11 and 7. We love Disney and have been blessed to visit DL and DW several times, our most recent trip to DW this past June.

My 11yo DD really wants to meet other girls her age via email before the cruise, but so far I don't think I've seen any posted here. If you have a young tween girl in your party, please let me know!!!

Finally, we desperately want to participate in the FE exchange. We booked GTY and was told we may not have an assignment until we reach the port which bums me out completely because then I don't know how we could possible participate in the exchange since no one will know where to find us!! Do you think we'll receive an assignment prior to the cruise?????

Sooooo, sooooo excited!!! I hope many others will join our group here. :)

I have a 7yo daughter, but no 11yos.

I do think you'll get a room assignment before the cruise, but if not, I've done FEs before where people didn't know their room or upgraded or whatever. They just handed out their gifts with their name and stateroom number on them so that the rest of us could find them. So you can always do that if you want.

And I lost the post, but to the person in 8510, hi back! I do love that part of the ship. We initially had 8530 booked, but my husband decided to cheap out and switch (much to my dismay), but it's fine cause I prefer the forward on deck 8 to the midship area anyway!

As far as the official list, I guess so far that's me! ;)

So here goes:

Hello again, everyone. I'm not sure why I didn't get email notifications that there were updates on this thread, but it appears that I've missed a bit. ;)

Anyway, we would love to join in on the FE list, if it's still available. We haven't been given our room number yet (we're in Cat6 - GTY, for now), but there will be four of us - me (Ryan), my wife Stephanie, and our kids Teddy (will turn seven on the trip) and Ellie (four).

We'll be driving out from Arizona the Wednesday before to spend a few days at Disneyland, so if anyone is doing the same, we'd love to meet up ahead of time! :)

Also, I'm curious as to if anyone is doing any non-Disney excursions. Although this will be our fourth DCL trip, this is our first off of the west coast, so it's unfamiliar territory....

Can't wait to meet everyone!

Ryan

Hi Carrie,

I saw your reply on the other thread, but I thought this might be a better space for my reply to that reply.... ;)

Although flying Southwest on the morning of should be a safe bet -- they have a lot of flights, and they start early -- I would recommend flying in Saturday night and getting a cheap room somewhere close to the boat. I'm thinking that 1) you'll be able to guarantee that you get there without an issue, and 2) if you were to leave Sunday morning, you'll have to leave pretty early in order to make sure you get on the boat, which will make for a long, long day. Granted you'll have seven days on the ship, but there's no sense having the kids sleep through the first afternoon of your cruise once you get on board. :)

I hope all is well with you and yours!

Ryan

Ryan, we're driving out from AZ probably Friday after school, staying overnight in DL, then heading to the boat Sunday. And I'll edit my post to include in the FE list. So now there are 2 of us!

That would be us in 8510!!! We did a port upgrade to that stateroom last October and loved it! What a great spot! No excuse not to go to the gym in the morning. :rotfl2:

We are in for the FE! We loved it last time. Our cabin is

Me -41
Paulie - 46

We are celebrating our 9th anniversary on the PV day!

For our pre-cruise plans we are flying into LAX on Friday night and staying at the Marriott till Sunday. After the cruise we are headed to DL and staying at the GCH for 2 nights before heading back to the LAX Marriott for 3 nights.

I know that this thread is just now getting hopping, but when do we want to cutoff the list for the FE? We need to allow time to make/buy whatever we are bringing.

Woohoo!!! Can't wait till October!

I know that this thread is just now getting hopping, but when do we want to cutoff the list for the FE? We need to allow time to make/buy whatever we are bringing.

The master of the FE list on our last cruise cut it off at the 60-day mark (which is in nine days, if I'm counting correctly), but we had close to 60 people. Since it appears that this list will be quite a bit shorter, maybe we could take it down to 45 days? 30 days?

Thoughts, everyone?

Ryan

I am hoping for a late FE cutoff since we are GTY!!!:lmao: Seriously, I will go along with what everyone else agrees on. I just hope we recruit lots of others -- I am TOTALLY into this FE exchange, and my 11yo is beyond excited about this. She LOVES this type of thing, and I have a feeling it may be one of her favorite parts of the cruise.

Anyway, here is my official info:

Me: Carrie - 47
DH: David - 51
DD: Alexandra - 11
DD: Chloe - 7

GTY - no assigned cabin at this time

We're GTY, as well, but I wouldn't worry about it. We had several GTY groups on our last cruise who didn't find out until a they actually checked in at the dock, so how we did it was everyone met up on the boat on Sunday (around 3:30), which allowed everyone to say hi to each other, but it also allowed those with a GTY status to update everyone on their room numbers. This works well, too, if someone were to upgrade at the dock.

Ryan

My thoughts would be to cut off the list around 30 days. I *think* that gives everyone enough time to get their stuff together since it doesn't seem anyone is leaving way early for the cruise and I don't think we will have too many participants just based on the number of people on this thread. Does that seem okay? I've had cutoffs further out before, but, like for our Alaska cruise, some people left way early to spend like a week in Vancouver or whatever before the cruise, so there needed to be a decent amount of time to prepare.

Bethie, since you mentioned the GCH, you made me realize I need to book a room for the 2 nights pre-cruise! I hadn't even thought of that! My gosh, sometimes I wonder where my head is. We have about an 8 hour drive, we'll be leaving at 3:30pm when my kids are out of school, then hitting Phoenix at rush hour. Sweet! I expect to arrive around midnight factoring in a dinner stop and traffic. The kids have to miss 3 days of school for the cruise (2 days they're off for conferences, which I am obviously missing), so I don't want to pull them out early Friday. We'll do Saturday at DL and then Sunday probably get up, have a character breakfast, then head to the ship!

On the way home my plan is to meet up with a friend of ours from Washington, DC (we lived there for 8 years, moved to AZ last July). They are moving to Pasadena next month so we're thinking we can see them for a late breakfast/early lunch, then drive back home.

Ooh, thanks for the reminder. I need to check into that, too (we'll be at the Grand California, as well).

As for the cut-off date, we're good with whatever. :)

Hi Everyone
I'm Jan & we'll be on the cruise too. It will be just me & my husband, David. We're from Oklahoma. Our kids are grown but we'd like to take them & our grandkids on a Disney cruise when the grandkids are a little older. This is our 3rd cruise but 1st DC. We figured we had to check it out before we bring the rest of the family. I keep my 1 & 3 yr old grandsons 4 days a week so I'm kind of looking forward to a little break from them. I love them & really enjoy them, but they do wear me out. We booked the cruise a year ago & it seemed it would never get here, but now it feels so close I'm getting excited. We've got a GTY stateroom too so we don't have a room# yet.

Yeah!!! We just booked today! So excited! We would love to be added to the FE list, but like PP we've got a GTY stateroom. This will be my DDs first cruise and they would love to be a part of it! I saw FE exchange boards and some of the loot on a previous cruise, but I'm not really clear on the specifics of how it works. I guess my biggest question is does everyone on the list get gifts for everyone else on the list?
Also, I was wondering if anyone knows which night is the formal night? And is there a Pirate night or another special night like that? Thanks for the info. Can't wait for our cruise!

For the FE list:

Me-Candace (33)
DH-Jordan (32)
DD-Chloe (8)
DD-Payton (5)

Hi Candace,

Welcome to the party! Don't worry about the GTY status with the FE list - there's a lot of us in limbo, it seems, so we'll get it worked out. As to your questions:

- Usually every stateroom gives to every other stateroom's guests, once. So, for example, if there are five other staterooms in the FE exchange, for a total of 19 people (not including your party), your stateroom needs to prepare to hand out 19 FE gifts, not 19 times the amount of people in your stateroom, and everyone in your stateroom would receive five gifts each (one each from the other staterooms). Does that make sense? Then, at some point (once the list is frozen), we'll divide up the days to where the gifts are evenly dispersed.

- As of the last round of MR trips (last fall), Pirate Night was on night four (Wednesday), Formal Night was on night two (Monday), and Semi-formal Night was on night six (Friday).

Hope that helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to throw them out! :)

Ryan

Hello everyone!

I posted a week or so ago, but see it is getting more active now & thought I would post again. :thumbsup2 We are on this cruise as well & we totally want to be on the FE list! Here is our official info:

Me: Nicole
DH: Ty
DS: Jayden (a few weeks shy of turning 11 at cruising)
DS: Ronan (will be 7 by then)

We will be in staterooms 2584 & 2585

We will be traveling with my mom as well. She may want to participate as well, but I will check in with her before I add her to the "official list".:)

Carrie in AZ - I am SOOOO excited you decided to book!! Yay!! :yay: You mentioned that you sent me a private message, but for some reason I have none in my folder. I am new to all of this, so I suppose it could be user error. :cutie: I have gone through all of my user settings & think I have it all set up right. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Ryan (IknowDoYou?) - thanks for the message on the other board! I am REALLY REALLY hoping to get to DL before the cruise. We would not be able to drive to CA until Thurs. night or very early Fri. morning if we can. I will keep you posted, it would be so much fun to meet up with fellow cruisers beforehand! I am sitting in my VERY hot house right now....our AC decided to stop working tonight:headache:, so I am worried all of my DL money will be spent on fixing our AC tomorrow. :scared1:

I am so happy to be cruising with you all!

Nicole

Confirmed this with DCL and my TA checked as well. Formal Night will be night 2 (at sea), Pirate Night is night 5 (1st day in Cabo), and Semi Formal Night is night 6 (2nd day in Cabo)
