Can you really split park hopper passes between different people? I thought they were issued to a specific person by name and even had to do a fingerprint check or I'd check or something before you could go throughout the turnstiles at the park entrances. Splitting a pass would be cool!

I remember reading something about names on the passes on the DL board. I tried finding the thread, but was unsuccessful. Disers mentioned that when they got their tickets at the park, they printed their names on them. Maybe someone will find the thread or you might want to ask on the DL board.

RE: PARKHOPPER PASSES

Snoopygirl---2 adult passes BEFORE the cruise (10/8)

Just and FYI: I always get my passes thru ARES Travel and they are a couple of bucks cheaper. ie: 3day Adult PH comes to 69.67/day.

This is a great idea to help eachother out to save a few dollars!!!

We were just there in July and I bought my park hopper tickets thru ARES Travel and printed out my confirmation. When I checked in at the DisneyLand Hotel, I gave the confirmation print out to the CM and she took it and gave me 4 paper tickets that said....adult park hopper, child park hopper. There is no finger scanning or anything when you go thru the gates.

Hope that helps. :)

Yeah, DL tickets are totally different than WDW tickets. No names, fingerprint scanning or any of that stuff.

I found the thread about names on the tickets. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2729194

This was from May. I haven't bought regular tix in years as I have an AP, so I am not really sure what they are doing now. I just remembered the thread and wanted to pass the info on. Quite a few people mentioned having to write their names on their tickets. Although I have never seen a CM ask anyone for id or have guests write their names on their passes. The risk is probably very small for sharing tickets. They would have to have your name on the ticket and then ask for id. Just wanted to pass it on in case anyone did not know.

Sadly, we have had to cancel our cruise and will no longer be sailing with you. :( :( :( Not a happy day for us today, that is for sure.

I will be thinking about you guys as you sail off to the MR and make memories to last a lifetime!! Have a WONDERFUL cruise!!!

Carrie, we'll miss you guys! Sorry you had to cancel.

Regarding the PH passes, last time we were in DL was in March, so that was before this new ticket policy. We didn't have any names on our tickets and we did the eticket, so we printed out our tickets, scanned them at the gate, and they handed us the paper tickets. No signing or anything. But if it's changed since then, I'd feel really badly if we got the tickets, then the people going post-cruise couldn't use them. it's such a savings though.

We're doing a day before the cruise, and we'd be 2 adults and 2 kids.

I logged onto the Disney website today and we have been assigned a room number of 6110. :cool1:

We didn't get ours:confused3 I got excited after I saw your post and went and checked our res. Still says GTY. Anyone have an idea of when we will know our stateroom?

I was hoping we'd get ours too but no luck. I've been checking everyday. Maybe it will be soon.

My wife and I have cruised several other lines before, but this is our first DCLtrip. I wanted to give other first time DCL people a heads up on the "port check-in time" process that I learned about today. On other cruise lines, you simply check in when you arrive at the port. If you arrive early, you are on the ship early. If you arrive late, you get on the ship late. Disney does the process entirely different though. Today I went through the online check-in process that you can do from the Disney cruise page. Click on "planning center" on the right side of the page, and you will need to sign in with your reservation number and birthdate. Next, click on "My online check-in" on the left side of the page. The process goes through several different things including: passport numbers, spending accounts, flight numbers etc. As you complete one section, another section to the right becomes available. One of the final sections is "port arrival time". You actually have to select a 30 minute window in which you will arrive to check in at the ship. The only times that were still available were 2-2:30, 2:30-3 and 3-3:30. Well, this is an issue for us. Our flight arrives at 10:00 AM and we were planning on heading over to the ship right away. So I called up DCL and spoke to a manager. He said that they stagger times to try and keep things flowing smoothly. I asked if I could move into an earlier "closed time" and he said no. I asked what would happen if I arrived early and he said I would like wait on a bench for a lengthy period of time. I asked what would happen if I tipped a few people $20 at the pier to get on earlier, and he said I would like be unsuccessful and would waste my money. I then politely told the manager that this policy was poorly designed and basically stunk, and he thanked me for my feedback. So our family now has four hours to kill we had not planned on needing to kill. Sigh. Anyways, anybody that has not completed this process needs to try and do it quickly. You will land in the 2:00 check in time with me at the very earliest.

Perhaps everybody else already knew about this process and we simply overlooked it. Its certainly not the end of the world or anything, but it does change our first day quite a bit now. Anyways, I wanted to give any others that were unaware of it a heads up.

*****IMPORTANT UPDATE: I wrote all of this earlier today and have an update. My sister just did this whole online check-in process, and for her all of the early port check-in times were available (except for 11:00). I was very confused why these "closed times" were available for her and not for me, as we booked our trips on the exact same day back in April. The only difference in our schedules is that she is flying in the night before along with my parents. So I went back to my flight information and fibbed :rolleyes1 that I was now flying in the night before as well. It worked. All the times were now available to check in (except for 11:00 which appears to really be filled). So Disney now has the incorrect flight times for our family, but we will now not have to waste four hours in LAX with a 5 year old. :scared1: We are now scheduled for the 11:30-12:00 check in time. There is some risk that Disney will now not be tracking our real flights, but getting to check in earlier is worth the risk imo. So for those of your flying in the day of the cruise: You can either fib (doesn't that sound so much more polite than calling it a lie) and say you are arriving the day before and get on the ship early, or have Disney track your actual flights and get on the ship from 2:00-3:30. Hopefully this information will be helpful to somebody else. :thumbsup2*******

We did the online check-in as soon as possible...I think it's 75 days out?...to have the best port arrival times. All times were available then, but we are flying in the day before. Maybe only later times are made available to those arriving the day of the cruise in case of flight delays. I don't know if I'd recommend giving false information about flights. When we did the on-line check in they ask for flight #. On our 1st cruise, 15 yrs ago, our flight was delayed & the cruise line delayed leaving for us & several other people. We were led in some back way through the kitchen...I think...too long ago. We missed the safety drill & the ship left as soon as we got on. I know they didn't have to wait for us & I'm sure they don't always do it, but how would they know if you were on a flight that was delayed if they don't know what flight you're really on? I'm not sure about how all this works...this is only my 3rd cruise. Someone with more knowledge about this could probably give better advice. It just seems to me pretty risky to not give correct flight info...better advice would be check-in as soon as possible. I guess new cruisers may not have known it made any difference when they checked in... I wouldn't have if it weren't for reading about it on here. Hope everything works out for you.

DCL told me that they start assigning rooms a month and a half to about 3 weeks out from the sail date. They should be starting to assign rooms just about now...

GranJan, you got me thinking that maybe listing incorrect flight times could be riskier that I thought. So I went back to the online check in page and changed my flights back to 10-9. I then went to the final page "Signature Form" and clicked update. The final page still had my 11:30 time listed and it did not make me change it thankfully. So I guess it worked out perfectly in the end. I was able to "trick" the computer system into giving me a good check in time, and Disney will now be tracking our correct flights the day of the cruise. :cool1:

Although I think that Disney bases their check-in windows off of your flight times, I think that the flight information is for Customs. I don't know what they do with it, but I seem to remember in the past that they ask where/when you're coming from and where/when you're going to after you go through a checkpoint.

I could be waaaaay off, though. :)

I'm glad everything worked out for you. That's strange that it wouldn't give you that time to begin with. Like I said, I don't know how important it is for them to have your flight times, or if there would be any risk if they didn't have it. I was just thinking of the possibilities.

Hello Everyone!
