Disney Wonder March 20th 2011 sailing

basically, it's like a secret Santa. You sign up and provide your interests, licks, dislikes. Then you are assigned a SM - our SM exchange is between $25-$30 for about 4-5 gifts..now this is on the PC cruise so maybe about $15? And about 3 gifts? The final gift is given when you have the reveal where your SM gets to meet you. You leave the other gifts at thier stateroom usually asking the stateroom attendant to put it in the cabin.

oooh that sounds like fun :). I'd be interested in doing this if anyone else is :thumbsup2.

I was going to sign up for the FE, but I doubt I'll have time to make anything for a large amount of people (I lack time and creativity ).

However, buying stuff for one or two people is right up my alley.

Have you seen the website www.airfarewatchdog - prices change all the time but right now from Portland they're showing...Long Beach for $158 RT, Orlando for $238 RT, Fort Lauderdale for $218, and loads of other cities with decent airfares.

But most of those fares require mid-week flying. If you want to fly in or out on any day other than Tues or Wed, the fare jumps up about $100. :headache:

Yep, airfare is crazy high right now from Oregon!! We may be driving . Which wouldn't be bad for the down trip but I have to work the next day after the cruise so we would have to pull a straight thru drive home.

We're going to have to do the same thing if we can't find something decent. I check every single day for Southwest to release their flights for our time frame. It's getting irritating!

I'm all for driving, but I think the kids will drive my husband insane.

I love FE but I admit..I purchase..I am not creative enough to make things...

Yes, I check them and Kayak almost daily and nothing under $350 right now. Well, Delta had a $280 BUT it's Delta so you go to Salt Lake City first and I am not interested in a 1 & 1/2 hour flight taking 6 hours, lol.

I'll keep watching Jet Blue and hope that they drop their fares. Southwest should open up March booking on October 5 so I am remaining hopeful cuz I just LOVE the 2 free checked bags!!!

If you end up driving maybe you can just stop in Salem and pick us up :lmao:! Oh wait, I would likely drive your husband insane!!

Hello! I orignially signed up to participate in the FE, but I'm going to need to withdraw my group. I didn't save the PM, so sorry for not doing this directly with the person in charge. We're still going on the cruise, but we'll be traveling around before hand doing some college tours and we really need to pack as light as possible. I hope that doesn't mess up the numbers. I look forward to meeting up with all of you, but really can't see myself dragging a bunch of goodies all over with us.

I'm sure we all understand, but if you want to still do it I believe you can ship your stuff to the ship before hand.

Good luck with the college touring!

HAs anyone started looking at the excursions that are being offered? I have a DD 8 and a DD2 at the time we sail. I was thinking of one beach/pool day, one family type excursion, and maybe one active one for me and DH, but DD2 would have to be in Flounders for a while then. In Mazatlan, was looking at the family ranch party(?) - where they have the pinata party for the kids, and a beach break in Cabo, the shorter one, with the shopping option, and maybe the zip lines in Puerta Vallerta. Any thoughts?

Alright, I found the perfect Secret Mickey gift so I am officially going to run this exchange if anyone is interested.

Here's the rules:
3 gifts (including the final gift) through the cruise left in the stateroom via the stateroom attendant
Final gift is given at the reveal where All SMs will meet. (will be scheduled for the final day of the cruise)
Cost: $15-20

If you are interested in the Secret Mickey exchange, PM me your name, stateroom, likes, dislikes, interests and any other info your SM might find helpful. If we don't have enough people, then we won't do it. So I'm thinking we need more than 5 to do it.

I'm interested, so I'll send you a PM in a minute. I don't have my stateroom # yet since I'm in a gty. Hope I get it before we actually cruise :guilty:.

I'll also have a 2 year old on this trip. In PV we will probably do the Dreams resort day pass. But my older DD wants to go zip lining, but I don't know if the flounder hours will work out (I still haven't looked at the excursion times).

In Cabo, we're going to either do the land/sea sight seeing excursion, because I want to see Los Archos. Or we might do the semi-submarine, because my 2 year old loves fish and it also goes by Los Archos.

Not sure about Mazatlan yet?? I was thinking Stone Island.

So the bottom line is, I've been thinking about excursions, but haven't made definite plans yet .

We'll definitely do Stone Island again:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It was our favorite excursion on our Princess cruise 3 years ago. We still talk about it! We'll do it on our own so we can leave whenever we are ready to go. Ahhhh....Victor's for shrimp.... Pacificos while laying in a hammock... awesome! Can't wait! We might let the kids rent quads. Another family on our cruise there had a great time renting those on the beach. Our kids have their own quads at grandma's, but I know they'll love riding on the beach! I might even look into Randi's Happy Horses for me and DD. The menfolk have zero interest in horseback riding.

I think in PV we'll do one of the beach break/hotel beach type excursions, and a snorkeling one in Cabo.

We booked Randi's Happy Horses last year and really enjoyed our day. She is a fascinating woman and her staff is super great.

I looked into Randi's because my older DD wants to ride horses along the beach, however with the little one, I'm not sure how this will work??

I hear a lot of good things about her though.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am so in NEED of a vacation .

I was able to switch to a stateroom that sleeps 4 so my DS15 might be going too. I had to downgrade to a Cat. 10, but at least I have the option of bringing him (even though DD14 wants him to stay home ). Also, since I downgraded I'm saving a little money.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

MamaKate, I'm with you, I REALLY am looking forward to this vacation.

I think I'm going to book the Randi's Horses for my hubby and grandson. I have arthritis to bad to be doing any riding. I'll just have to FORCE myself to say on the ship and relax, maybe a spa treatment that day.

You have a nice weekend too.

FYI: Southwest Airlines opened up reservations thru April.

And I almost died from shock and laughter at the prices!!! Roundtrip from Portland, Oregon into the LA area is $1,240.00 for 3 people :scared1: !!! That's almost as much as the cruise! Looks like we may be driving :sad2:.

Oh my gosh!!! That's really spendy. I have enough miles for 1 ticket, but don't want to pay $800 for two more. I need to see if Jet Blue has their prices up for that time.
