Key West excursion - glass bottom boat. Nice ride out, air conditioned boat and clean. Good narrator. It was HOT HOT HOT in Key West and I hear some of the inland excursions were sweltering. Glad I was on the boat with the breeze blowing that day. When we got back it was too hot to wander the streets so we went back to the boat.
Nassau excursion was the Dolphin Encounter. We LOVED interacting with the dolphins but the company experienced technical difficulties with the camera and we only got ONE picture of the four of us. I can't begin to describe how disappointed I still am. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us and I don't have the pictures of us hugging the dolphin
Castaway Cay was awesome. Best day of the cruise. My husband did the fishing excursion. He's a fisherman so he knew how to fish out there. He caught a lot and was VERY happy. We just enjoyed the water all day and loved the lunch that was provided.
MAJOR disappointment of the cruise were the pools on the boat. My kids are 10 and 14 and the pools were crowded and small. I'd go so far as to say the one pool was just plain lame. They were looking forward to swimming on deck and we were really shocked at the size of the pools. They were too small. There is really no swimming pool on this ship that is adequate for teenagers. You can get in this pool and go up and down but you sure don't go across it. I hope they build them much bigger on the Dream.
Another MAJOR disappointment was the ALOFT for the teens. My 14 year old son saw all of the computers in the younger kids room and he couldn't believe it. He wanted to hang in the younger kids room! He didn't hang out in the ALOFT at all. He did play basketball and use the arcade room.
Pirate Night with the fireworks is a great night. Loved the evening dining experience. Loved playing shuffleboard on deck 4. We enjoyed the shows and watching movies on the ship.
Exciting/Scary moment on the cruise - 11:45pm on the last night they make a blanket announcement in EVERY STATEROOM "Brightstar Brightstar Brightstar Stateroom NNNN".
I'm tellin' ya, I woke up with my heart pounding. All I could think was that it must be a pretty big emergency to broadcast to every room and at that hour. I laid there awake for another hour waiting for another announcement but fortunately it never came. We heard the next morning that it was a medical emergency. Must have been pretty serious.
The cruise was very relaxing and the water was very smooth. The cruise was fun, but unfortunately it wasn't the grand-slam vacation we were hoping it would be.
