Part I - July 18th

Me, DH and DS (5 years old)

Left the Pop Century Hotel (was only there for a quick 2 days) about 10:15 a.m. via Happy Limo Service. Thought I would be happier with Happy Limo but I found their cars to be alittle runned down and our driver was not that friendly or talkative. In addition we were suppose to have a child's car seat for my DS but they bought an infant seat instead because all the child seats were being used. My son did not fit in the seat of course so I had no other choice but to put him in a seat belt. I wasn't too happy about that since I paid for the car seat and I would have felt much safer with him being in a car seat but as soon as I saw the Disney Wonder I forgot all about the car seat incident.

We arrived at the terminal about 11: 15 a.m., check in was so quick and easy, I couldn't belive it. We received our KTWC and immediately looked to see what Dinner Rotation we were assigned. We were assigned TAPT - Second Seating. After check-in we waited in line to board the Wonder. While waiting to board, I looked over the Welcome Aboard Navigator that they give you at check in and Minnie Mouse was there to take pictures, my son was so very excited. About 12:00 p.m. they began to board, by 12:15 p.m. we were taking our embarkation photo. I love the way they announce your name when your entering the atrium. The atrium was so breathtaking that even my husband stopped just to take it all in. NOTE: FROM THE TIME WE STEPPED ON BOARD THE STAFF WAS SO POLITE AND HELPFUL, THEY MAKE EVERYONE FEEL VERY SPECIAL.

We had lunch at Parrot Cay. The buffet was nice. I like the way they had a separate buffet for the children. My son loved the children's buffet.

After lunch, we went to register my son for the Oceaneers Club. Registration took about a half an hour, as it was crowed. Everyone had the same idea at that time, I guess. My son and husband were very occupied while I was registering just looking around the Oceaneers' Club. NOTE: THROUGH THE WHOLE TRIP MY SON WOULD NOT GO TO THE CLUB ALONE UNLESS EITHER MYSELF OR MY HUSBAND STAYED WITH HIM. THE ONLY TIME HE STAYED ALONE WAS DURING THE REHERSAL FOR THE "DISCOVER THE MAGIC SHOW". MY HUSBAND AND I DIDN'T MINE THOUGH, IF HE WANTED TO PARTICIPATE IN A PROGRAM WE JUST WENT WITH HIM AS VISITORS AND PROBABLY HAD AS MUCH FUN AS HE DID. AFTER ALL IT WAS A FAMILY TRIP.

Went to our room about 1:45 p.m., couldn't get in the rooms until I believe 1:30 p.m. anyway. Had a Category 11 Room. It was alittle smaller than we expected but it was very nice and just fine for my family of 3. I have to say the over the door shoe hanger did come in handy. Freshened up alittle and then put our bathing suits on, had them packed in our day bag.

Went to Deck 9 so that my son could play in the Mickey Pool and so that me and my husband could grab a drink or two. My son had to go down that Mickey Slide at least 10 times on our first day. It was so relaxing and wonderful sitting on Deck 9 drinking a Bahama Mama and people watching. Everyone was already having a good time, you could tell by the expression on their faces. Went back to the room about 3:30 p.m., grabbed our life jackets and off to the life boat drill. Life boat drill was very quick, it started around 4:00 p.m. and we were finished by 4:15 p.m. Looked around the boat alittle more, loved everything.

Went to the Hercules show at 6:30 p.m. We all loved the show, it was so funny. It was my son's favorite show. After the show, went to Mickey Mania at Studio Sea, it was so much fun, my son kept hollering out all the answers. He was so happy to be there. Had dinner at Triton's, very classy. We met our tablemates, they were from California (Gordon, Dawn and their 2 year old daughter, Hope). They were so nice. Our servers, Dario and Zolton were the best. Made us feel so welcomed. Food was good. My husband actually ordered to entrees. After dinner we were all tired as it was about 10:00 p.m. and we had a great but long day. Went back to the room and called it a night. NOTE: I WAS NERVOUS ABOUT BEING SEASICK. TOOK 1 BONINE BEFORE WE SAILED AND I WAS FINE. FELT THE BOAT MOVING ALITTLE IN TRITON'S THE FIRST NIGHT BUT I DID FINE.

It was a great first day. Stay tune, Day 2 to follow.........

Keep posting!

Thanks for the report...looking forward to the next installment.

BTW---my Robert will be 6 when we cruise in December.

Great Report ! I love to read reports with children, to get an idea of how my children will love, love, love the cruise. Mine will both be 5 1/2 when we go in May. What was your sons all time favorite thing about the cruise? So, he did enjoy the kids club and their activities ? (as long as you were there, of course) I know mine would be fine if we left them, because they have each other, Thank goodness !! Keep up the Great Reports. What did your son think of the POP Century, we're thinking of staying at the French Quarter, but not quite sure yet.

Luvindis Cruiser.......... My son's absolute favorite thing on the cruise was the Mickey Slide and the Mickey Pool. Your children are going to love the cruise and the clubs. There are so many activities planned in the clubs. As far as the Pop Century, we loved the hotel. Very cute for kids. Great store. If you have any other questions, I would be more than happy to answer......... Jeneen

Thanks for the info. , great to know !! How did he do at dinner each night? Would he get restless during dinner? We have an early seating, because I don't think my children would of lasted through dinner at 8:30. And, is it OK for children to wear shorts in the dining rooms? I just found out that there is no formal night, so I don't have to worry about that. Is there a semi-formal night, and if so, what night would it be on? Thanks for your help.......

He fell asleep 2 nights during dinner. He was so tired from all the activities. Shorts are fine for children in the dining room. My son wore shorts 2 nights. All the restaurants are casual but Triton's, I would say that Triton's is semi-formal. For the adults though they request that you wear no shorts or jeans at dinner for all the restaurants.

I enjoyed the report. Looking forward to reading the rest.

I have to agree with you on Happy Limo. I was not impressed with my ride from MCO, but the ride back was fine. We will try another company next time anyway.

I'm glad to hear your little guy liked the shows.

RobertsMommy--we were on the Wonder with you! (With about 70 of our friends in tow). We also had Dario and Zoltan and thought they were AWESOME! So much better than the servers two years ago--we were on the early seating, though, so we missed you! How about that almost second trip to Castaway Cay????? Great trip report, btw--I'm too much in denial to be back to write one! LOL!! :earsgirl:
