Disney Wonder January 13 2017 - 7 night Bahamas from Galveston

Welcome Jenn. This thread has been kind of quiet and bcwife hasn't posted in months, they could have cancelled or could just not have had the time to post. Just a heads up I wouldn't rely on them seeing your message here to get you on their FE, which it looks like was organized on another website and they can't share that info on these boards.

To be honest, this is our first DCL cruise, and while the FE sounds fun it also sounds like a lot of work, there is going to be so much going on I don't think you guys will have any less fun. You can always buy a few goodies yourself for the kids and place them into your FE yourself, just a thought.

46 days to go, look forward to seeing you onboard!
BCWIFE.. that's who I was looking for!!!
Hello All!!! First time Cruisers EVER here with 3 kids and my DH! I really want to join a "fish extender(?)" group???? I have heard about this and purchased one but that is where I stopped. How do we become part of this?? Help!! Also, we only booked one excursion early and were planning on doing more when on the ship. Is that OK???

Jennifer
Is there a FE group we can join?

1) Rent a golf cart
2)Get a really cheesey picture of me at the southern most point in the US
3) Eat as much seafood and key lime pie as I can
4) eat more key lime pie
5)Get back on board.[/QUOTE
So is there a FE group we can join on this sailing?

Anyone parking at the port? Or have done so in the past? Do you have to park & then take a shuttle?

We paid in adavance to park at the port of galvestons parking structure. Saved $5, paid $65 for the week.

I just asked this question on the board, so you may know the answer then:

We're booked for the 1/13 Wonder out of Galveston, and we're wondering where the cruise parking is located? I received an email from DCL that talks about parking:

https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/...s-parking/?CMP=EMC-DCLFY16Q1FY16DCLPAEMS0133G

This lists adjacent parking & to me that would mean similar to Port Canaveral where you can walk over. No where on this site though gives you a link or tell you how to prepay as it states there's a $5 discount to book early & that there's handicap accessible parking.

So I contacted my DU agent & provided the link to the webpage above, she replied that you can not prepay & we'd have to wait until we got there. I reminded her to look at the link I sent her & her reply was that I guess we can book early with this link provided:

http://www.portofgalveston.com/91/Cruise-Parking

Once I start reading the links it states we have to take a shuttle to the port? This to me is not adjacent parking & is really a stretch of the word adjacent if a shuttle has to be involved. I do get that every port is different & they all won't be like Port Canaveral, it's just all that I know.

So my question is since my DU agent didn't even know you could prebook parking, is the link she provided for the same parking garage that Disney talks about on their webpage? I know at Port Canaveral there are tons of other places to park that involve shuttles. I want to avoid shuttles as much as possible as my FIL will be in a wheelchair.

Thank you!

I think this will help:

http://www.portgalvestonparking.com/pdf/terminal-map.pdf

DCL parks in lot A. There doesn't appear to be any true adjacent parking and they do shuttle you. Our plan is drop all bags and group at the terminal and have our driver go and park and shuttle back to the terminal.

As the DCL link you shared states you can precook as we did. You have to print out the reservation and BRING THE PRINTOUT with you.

Hope that helps

ETA: I just checked and DCL goes out of terminal 2, we are the only ship sailing that day so Should be relatively easy.

I also looked at Google maps and it looks like an easy walk to Terminal 2, we got lucky being in the closer terminal.

Thank you! So we can drop my FIL off at the terminal in the wheelchair & then park?

Is this your 1st cruise out of Galveston ?

I just added a couple of notes to my prior post.

We have been out of Galveston once before, but it has bee a while and we took transfers directly from IAH to catch the cruise.

Thanks to another poster I found this link that shows unfortunately we are docking at the outer Mole, which is apparently on the naval base and apparently there will be a shuttle that takes passengers to Mallory Square. It looks like we will have one other ship with us, the brilliance of the seas (2500 pax).

Here is a map showing the port locations:

Is this not the normal port to dock? I'm confused now.

Hi everyone this is our first time on a Disney cruise and I just found this site. I was looking for information about the FE but it looks like from what I have read I am too late to join :( I will be traveling with my husband and two kids 1 daughter who is 5 and my son who is 10. I actually work in Galveston and would be happy to answer any questions anyone might have about Galveston.

We are driving down to the port the day of the cruise and we're trying to figure out the best place to grab a late breakfast or early lunch before boarding?

Thanks!

There are most of the chain restaurants on the island but if you want something that is not chain there is Sunflower Bakery and Mosquito Cafe both are close to the port. If you want something nicer than local cafes there is Rudy and Pacos one of my favorite restaurants. Hope this information was helpful.

This is great. Thanks for the suggestions!

Hello all. I am new to the board and so excited about the upcoming cruise. Bummed to see that no one has organized a FE group as of yet, but understand not wanting to take on the work or understanding how to get it started. Will be sailing with my mother who is turning 70 and two daughters (8 & 9 years old). Thanks for putting the group together. Hopeful if the FE group gets started someone will let me know...was just going on line to purchase trinkets and fun stuff to drop, but thought I better check first. Crazy that it is snowing here in Texas today and will be almost 70 degrees when we sail! Got to love Texas ;-)

Just curious if anyone is at the cruise terminal? With the delayed arrival was curious to see when is a good time to get there.

We're just parked on the beach in our truck. I think we're going to head over around 5. When are you going?
