Disney Wonder January 13 2017 - 7 night Bahamas from Galveston

Hello to everyone! :wave2: We just transferred an open OBB to this cruise a couple of days ago and thanks to BCWife76 for shooting me a message and reminding me to come and join in the fun! I'm Jenny and my DH is Scott. We live in Magnolia, TX which is only about 1 1/2 hours from Galveston and have enjoyed having DCL sailing from a port where we can just drive in the morning of the cruise. I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised that they are coming back again in the Fall of 2017. :goodvibes

We've got quite a lot of experience sailing out of Galveston and I'll be happy to try and help answer any questions that anyone has. There is also a pretty good thread that we had going back in 2012 when DCL first came to Galveston that has a lot of good information. I will try and dig and find it and post the link to it here within the next few days.

Welcome Jenny, glad to have you onboard! Your expertise will come in very handy for some of us - this is our first cruise out of Galveston and I'm finding it a bit overwhelming (transportation-wise). So far all we have booked is our pre cruise hotel (Harbor House) but haven't been able to book airfare yet as I'm still waiting for the prices to come down for either Vancouver or Seattle.

Here is the thread on "all things Galveston", it has quite a lot of good information. Unfortunately transportation to and from the airports is an issue that doesn't have too many solutions but there are some shuttles etc available. Galveston is a neat place to spend a pre-cruise night. We've stayed at several hotels down there, including Harbor House.

We had to reschedule our cruise. We now have a different departure date.

My wife, Sister in law and I are taking this cruise and are really excited as it will be our first DCL cruise. We are huge fans of the mouse and have been to WDW and Disneyland multiple times. We look forward to the Disney experience and seeing what DCL does differently than other lines. This will be our 9th cruise in total.

Look toward to meeting y'all on board and sharing in the planing excitement until then. 228 days!

We're from Oklahoma - my husband and I last went on a cruise 14 years ago for our honeymoon, but our kids (daughter will be 10 and son 13) have never been. This will be the first Disney cruise for all of us. We LOVE all things Disney, and have been to Disneyland and WDW several times, despite the 20+ hour drive each way. (We're looking forward to cutting that in half by going to Galveston.) We cannot wait to see all the new enhancements and refurbishments coming to the ship.

Hi everyone! :) My husband, son (10), daughter (3) and I have been on a few cruises out of Galveston but this will be our first Disney cruise and we are so excited!! We are also looking at participating in the fish extenders and would love more information about it. Sounds like a lot of fun!:fish:

I am wondering how to sign up to participate in Fish extenders. It may be too early. It's for the Disney Wonder May 2017. When did you first see the info for your cruise? Thanks.

Hi Vicki - this is for the January 13th sailing. If you find your cruise meet thread for your May sailing and post in there someone may have already have started a FE. Someone from each cruise has to volunteer to coordinate the FE before anyone can sign up for one.

Do we have a FE group started yet. Being that this is my first Disney cruise, I have no idea where to look. Thank you

We just booked and are so excited! This will be our 8th DC and sailing out close to home is a bit of relief. We will be driving down from Dallas with our 2 children. DS will be 13 and my DD will be 9 at time of cruising. Looking forward to meeting and possibly setting up the FE group for this cruise.

Anyone interested in an adult only FE?
We are already part of a family FE but thought that maybe a adult one would be fun!

Hi everyone! This is our first cruise with our 4 children: 2 ds 7 & 5 and 2 dd 4 & 1. We are thrilled about this cruise! We are from Palestine, TX roughly about 3 hours from Galveston. Look forward to meeting you all :)

Hello! This will also be our first Disney Cruise! So Excited!!!:yay: It will be my DH and our 3 DD ages 9, 7 and 4. We also have a DS (13mos)who will be sitting this cruise out. So glad to have found this forum! Anyone going to participate in the Fish Extender exchange?

Getting closer to the sail date and really starting to talk about it. We have not sailed out of Galveston before and are looking forward to it. We are making the drive from the Dallas area and trying to decide if we should try and just drive down that day to board the ship. Seems doable to us.

We booked another cruise on Carnival that is leaving this September out of Galvaston (could not beat the price) so by the time this cruise comes along we will have done at least one cruise from there. We were thinking of staying in Galvaston after the cruise based on when we'll be coming into port.

What I'm really looking forward to is seeing all the changes on the Wonder after dry dock. This will be our third time on the Wonder, the most we've sailed on any one ship, so it should be interesting to see how much is familiar vs. how much will seem completely different.

It looks like there was a recent price drop on several categories. May want to check and see if it's cheaper than when you originally booked.

We are under 100 days to go! Can't wait to see the Wonder after her dry dock and head to warm weather!

I'm Joni and this is our first Disney Cruise. We are getting so excited! I'm traveling with my husband, son, daughter, son-in-law, and five grandchildren, ages 12, 9, 5, 3, and 18 months. Just now learning about FE exchange and definitely interested. I'm trying hard not to feel overwhelmed. Any advice you seasoned Disney cruisers can give will be much appreciated!
