Disney Wonder Jan 23, 2011

Steve are you doing the whale watching in Cabo? I'm going on the same trip:cool1:, Dave's going fishing and then we are going to the bars.
Whooo hooo. My kind of lady. Lol
Two separate ideas. I wanted to know if anyone knew about the submarines ( Thank You Kris). I also wanted to see if we wanted to get a whole group together to descend on Cabo Wabo. :scared1: For us it will depend upon IF we do the submarine or not, as they are booked up for their morning tours. I am torn as I really wanted to tour in the AM and do Cabo Wabo before we go back to the ship. :confused3

Check out Randi's website but I know she has had kids 1/2 that age on rides before. I would send her an e-mail and see if she still has room to add on to our group. Just tell her you are with the group from the Disney Cruise.
Later & back to FE's!:wizard:
Sue

I would love to meet at Cabo Wabo but not sure what will happen that day. I guess it depends on the time. We are just going to walk around that day. Thanks for the info. On Randi's I will check it out. Oh and I got all the FE finished...yeah. Sorry to some of you adults I didn't have much. I mostly bought kid stuff :-)

In the last week or so I've had several requests for cabins to be added to the FE list. Last week I added bklawyer and 2 additional cabins because at that point several of the people who said they were making/buying extras for late comers had enough left for 2 or 3 more cabins - and those 3 cabins last week fulfilled that. Ryan and I are also to the point where we have purchased for and made our FE gifts and do not have enough for any additional cabins. We had said that the cut-off date for joining the FE was in October unless there were enough people making extras that late comer cabins could be added. At this point I do not believe that there are enough (if any) extras to add additional cabins.

With that said, I will add charlenek421 and dmbkmb (any anyone else who asks) to the list - however - I ask that there is understanding that you may not receive anything as we are now 18 days before a lot of us leave for the cruise(s) and our FE gifts are complete. My recommendation would be to include each other to make sure you are all covered. In fact - I recommend that the 3 cabins from last week plus these 2 new cabins all join together to make at least a group of 5 who can buy from each other - and maybe work from the bottom up the list so that other late comers previously added can also make sure that - as with you - they are also included.

I hope this makes sense and is not coming off the wrong way. We are SO HAPPY to have you all on the cruise and joining the board! :woohoo: Again, I hope you understand that this is a tough situation as we want to include everyone, but this close to the sailing most of us are already done with our shopping - and given the number of late comers - most of us have already depleted our supply of "extras."

Jessica. You should probably not read this post.

I still like the idea of tying Jessica up with the bands and dragging her into Toy Story. :cool1::rotfl2:

We are going to have to tie her up to get her there. Maybe we could just record it and play it over and over and over and over to torment her. At dinner, on the shore excursions, at the parties, call the cabin and play the music.

thanks so much for the last minute add! i am sorry i didnt realize the list got going so early! this is our first disney cruise and have just found out about this and it sounds like lots of fun!

so anyone want to me on a last minute list with me? maybe we can be sure to have some items for each other and the others on the big list since they have been so kind to include us!

and what kind of gifts have you guys been making? i better get busy this week on making something cute and creative! thanks so much!

:cool1: Victory! :cool1:

It only took 8 months, but I finally found our 2008 Passporter with the Mexican Rivera cruises in it. Now I just need to read through it to find all of the great information that I have convinced myself is in there.

We saw Tron last weekend. If you haven't seen it yet, and you aren't a big Tron fan, you might as well wait and watch it on the cruise. IT was good, but definitely not great. Just like the original tron it could have been great if they spent a little more time on the story and a little less time on the special effects. We also saw Tangled last week which was really good. We saw it in 2D, but hopefully they will still have it on the cruise in 3D.

You are very welcome! Like I said, we are so happy to have you joining us, and I feel bad that I can't guarantee that a certain number of cabins will be able to buy for you. Hopefully some people will skip around on the list instead of just starting from the top down - this way it all evens out a bit. We might just do that!

I also saw in an earlier post (I don't recall if it was you or not), but I saw a question about how the FE works - what you buy, how much, etc. There is no official rule, simply do what you can an want to so long as you give gifts and don't just receive them. Some people are giving gifts every couple of days, some people give a gift just once - some people leave stuff for individual people and others leave something for the cabin as a whole. Truly, it depends on what you want to do and what you can manage to do. As far as examples of what people give, lol, I don't know that you'll get anyone on here willing to tell you what they're doing because a lot of us like the "surprise" aspect of it. There are many photo boards on DISboards that have pictures of past people's gifts. Does anyone have a link to that to share here? I think it was posted a long time ago - but with nearly 90 pages in our thread that might be difficult to find.

welcome aboard!

:rotfl2: Ok, ok . . . I will not go. :rotfl2: Might I remind Ryan though - since I will have a LOT of homework to do, the Toy Story musical would give me an hour to work on some homework without worrying about entertaining my very needy husband. :lmao:

Jessica, you are awesome!!!!! So is there a final list on here that I can find? I've got to get BUSY this week! I have a few ideas so I probably need to know how big my list actually is so I can see what to choose! My son is just 3 and loves to give gifts so he is extra excited to give presents on "the Mickey boat" getting close to cruise time, can't wait!

I saw the post about the hotels on priceline, Thanks for posting! I completely forgot to look there. Not a fan of the unsure hotel but in this case, not being our actual destination i thought I'd try it! I did the 3 1/2 or better star rating in San Pedro, be sure to check distance. I did the lowest like within 0 or 5 miles of San Pedro. We ended up with a room at the Hilton Doubletree. Looks pretty good so I'd say it's a deal! It's listed online for $119 so a pretty good savings. I know nothing is going to compare to the oceanview from our balcony on the wonder but this will have to do for a night!

Group Trip to Cabo Wabo!!! I am so there. I get to embarrass my family in a whole different country. Hey Jessica, my DW, also a Jessica, says I'm needy too. She's doing the rolling her eyes thing right now. I wonder if that's good or bad?

I got the latest Passporter's guide and it's really informative. I also got the DCL Hidden Mickey book for my boy (I'm lyin', it's for me!). Amazon delivered these next day and they were really inexpensive.

I love the DCL facts. I can eat 5000 pounds of beef no sweat. They'd better order extra. Like Homer Simpson said when the waitress asked if he wanted one steak or two? He said "can I have both?"

Last I heard, Tangled was being shown onboard in 3D, and since there haven't been any new releases, it should still be there. I also heard Toy Story 3 in 3D was still playing in the theater.

I read that they filmed the movie in 58 or 59 days, and then spent nearly a year on the special effects. I wonder if the story was impacted by such a rushed shotting schedule or if it was just a mediocre story to begin with? I'm waiting to see it onboard, but I'm sure I'll be happy with it.

Any previous cruisers up for answering a few of my many questions? Anything you tell me would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Biggest concern, childcare areas. My son has severe food allergies. Has anyone here had experience? They have said how careful they are and being Disney I believe that. I'd like to know if they ban certain items from child areas or have kids snack separately? Where do they keep his epi-pen? I know how they handle it will be covered with us on board but I'd like to have a better idea!

Weather, how chilly does it get at night and in the mornings being out in the ocean? Need more than a sweatshirt?

How much time do little ones actually spend in the oceaneer club each day? I know all kids are different but wondering how people utilize this wonderful place!

How many suitcases do people end up bringing? I read these HUGE lists of necessities but then I read pack light, kinda confusing!

What are the best on board activities? Are there things available that aren't online?

How dressed up typically do kids get on formal nights?

How do we find/sign up for shuttle service from the ship to the airport after the cruise? We have our transportation set up for our arrival but not our return.

Can we ship items to our room ahead of time? Read that someplace, seemed like a cool idea.

How many beverages do you guys carry on? Don't want to buy too much and be asked to give up my drinks!

Plenty for now! Thank you to anyone that takes the time to respond. 3 weeks from now we will be cruising away! Getting so excited and just looking for any information you all have, thanks!

Love the profile picture. My home office is subtle decorated in Star Trek, although I don't dare do it at work :)

I personally wouldn't get too excited about the beef. I didn't find it to be all that great. Good, but not great. However, I loved the island spiced rib eye that they served in Parrot Cay, so if you see it on the menu there, it's definitely worth a try. I've seen others on the main board rave about the fillet in Palo as well, but it was just okay to me. My wife truly enjoyed the fish dishes, so I might be opting for a bit more fish this trip.

The Passporter book is excellent; you should find just about everything you need in there. Of course, the embarkation information doesn't apply as they don't cover the Port of Los Angeles. And while I've read that the port has spent $2 million sprucing up the facilities, it is a shared facility, so the Disney touches will probably be a bit limited compared to Port Canaveral where they have their own dedicated building. However, I did read that they installed a new audio/video system, so I have to think they have plans to keep everyone entertained while waiting to board.

Can you give us the name of your son? I would like to make one more gift for him before I put everything away.

Weather, how chilly does it get at night and in the mornings being out in the ocean? Need more than a sweatshirt?I would bring jacket....it has been like 55 this week

How much time do little ones actually spend in the oceaneer club each day? I know all kids are different but wondering how people utilize this wonderful place!as much time as you want and depending on age of child. Flounders charges 6/hr; the 3 and up (if potty trained) can be there from like 8ish to 1a.m ish......they will take them to meals, even. Altho it was horrific on the last cruise, Celebrity, to see a little boy pretty much living in the kids' club as his very young mother partied...she didn't even come to the talent show

How many suitcases do people end up bringing? I read these HUGE lists of necessities but then I read pack light, kinda confusing!no limit. They send you two tags but you can check more...question of storage (suitcases will fit under the beds by the way)

What are the best on board activities? Are there things available that aren't online?every day there is something going on...trivia contests, lectures, card games, etc....and then the paid stuff, like the freespin cycling)

How dressed up typically do kids get on formal nights?as little or as much as you want them to....I am planning on family pics and buying the CD so my group is dressing up

How do we find/sign up for shuttle service from the ship to the airport after the cruise? We have our transportation set up for our arrival but not our return.on ship I think...haven't seen anything jump out at me. If no, there will be shuttles at port.

Can we ship items to our room ahead of time? Read that someplace, seemed like a cool idea.yeah, look in the FAQ section at top of Disney Cruise forum. It is record album sized box tho....12 x 12 x 12....

How many beverages do you guys carry on? Don't want to buy too much and be asked to give up my drinks!anything that can be carried on by you and hauled around for 2-3 hours until your room is ready

Plenty for now! Thank you to anyone that takes the time to respond. 3 weeks from now we will be cruising away! Getting so excited and just looking for any information you all have, thanks!

The FE link is on the first page of this thread. Jessica was awesome to set it up.

I am in for that....

by the way, promised to mention that eco cat in cabo has room on the whale watching trip.....boat can carry 150 folks....little ones can go. I think we are doing that in Cabo.

I agree with you on this, I'm going to add Dumkmb and charlenek421 to my list, but I'm stopping there.

Has any one heard from cdnsluvdisney yet, should we take them off our list? :confused3

hi, just tried to message you about the fish extender list and it wont allow me to because i just joined this forum :( we are in room 5626 with 2 adults and 1 child. this is the cutest idea! and we are thrilled about our very first disney cruise!

Could you please give us your names? I like to have peoples names on my
FE gift tags. If you do not want to give out your names on the public form I do understand. Thanks and Welcome to our fun little group.

Yep, that's the one. It should be a lot of fun. It will be nice going with someone we know!

YEA :cool1: I'm happy I will not be alone on this trip, Dave wants to go to the Giggling Marlin Bar & Grille after our trips, but I might try and change his mind and go to Cabo Wabo with everyone else instead.
