Disney Wonder in Alaska Video

Thanks so much for sharing this! We had been debating whether or not to invest in a GoPro for our upcoming Norway/Iceland cruise. This sealed the deal! (you should ask them for commission :flower:)

That was really neat. We were on that cruise with you (port side 6138). This will help me explain just how bad of weather we had when I'm talking to my friends. Thanks so much for taking the time to put it together and sharing.

Hehe

I used a Hero 4 for that video. I originally bought a Hero 3 and was pretty disappointed with the time-lapse feature. The newer Hero 4 has a 'video' time-lapse mode that is much better.

Great job! a couple questions...... 1) what is the battery life in the time lapse mode? Did you have to re-charge or plug in? 2) does the Go Pro suction cup come with the safety cord? 3) are there a variety of time lapse settings on the GP4? which did you use for your video? 4) how about playback and uploading to youtube? any conversions or save settings? 5) silver or black?

Thanks

1. It'll run about 2.5 hours on one battery. For Tracy Arm, I had it on for about 6 hours. I bought a 15 Foot USB cable and a housing with holes in it for the cord. The cord was long enough to go from the desk outlet to the camera on the veranda.

2. No, the tether is not included - I bought this one.

3. Yes, there are multiple ways to do timelapse with the GoPro4. I used 'Video Timelapse' in video mode, 1 second interval, 4K resolution. For the first part of the video, I used 'Night Lapse', which is under multi-shot photo mode. It gets quite confusing, I know. Be aware that you have to update the firmware to get the 'Video Timelapse' mode. I spent a couple of hours bashing my head against the desk trying to figure out why I couldn't make that work.

4. I used Sony Vegas Movie Studio 13 to edit the clips into one movie and add the music. I actually sped the video up in the movie even more to get it to match the length of the song, so you aren't really seeing the 1-second interval. It's more like a 4-second interval. I would still shoot at 1-second interval. The camera comes with GoPro Studio, which will do the same thing I did with Sony Movie Studio. I actually messed this video up and didn't remove the 'fish eye', which you can easily do in GoPro Studio.

5. Mine is Silver.

Also, it will take up to 64gb memory cards. I took 2 of them, and filled up one, and half of the other.

Thanks for the great info. If you don't mind, a couple more questions.

1. Did the Silver come with holes in the housing or did you purchase another housing? You ran the cord out the slider and the slider wasn't closed all the way?
2. I looked on the GoPro website and didn't see the suction cup arm in your picture. A different vendor?
3. What's the difference between Night Lapse and Video Timelapse

Thanks so much

1. No - there's a link in my first reply - it's hard to see - housing with holes in it for the cord
2. I got it at Amazon too - GoPro Suction Cup Mount
3. Night lapse takes a longer exposure for each frame. For use in low light.
