Disney Wonder - Galveston to San Jaun - January 20, 2017

I think we'd be interested in the FE and mixology group. Traveling with DS 17, DD 16, DS 14 and DS 13...so would be just one for the mixology :)
I will add your name to both lists, and when you reach 10 posts, I will send you a PM with all of the information I will need for the FE spreadsheet!

By the way, we will be traveling with our 16.5 year old son.

Yay, more teenagers! I was a little worried mine would be the only teens on board. I can't wait and reading all the posts and ideas on here are getting me more excited!

I don't think we have ever been on a Disney cruise where there is a lack of teens. And they seem to Love the Vibe (teen only area ) . We have set a rule that they have to have breakfast and dinner with us daily for some family time. If we didn't I would worry we may only see them at bedtime.
Funny thing, our last cruise was our first that our oldest was an adult, and in his own cabin. He stuck to the breakfast and dinner rule, and then sought us out every day for lunch.

Oh, did you need more help changing your picture?

Just FYI for those that are interested and looking for some place to stay in San Juan...
I did a search yesterday for vacation rentals in Old San Juan and came up with several affordable apartments to rent. I am sure there are others available in other areas also. There were several options ranging from 1 bedroom up to 8 bedrooms. I searched 'vacation rentals in Old San Juan' on google. The Home Away site (I think that is what it was called - also shows up as VBRO) was not very helpful. They did not have locations for the rentals, and you had to message the owner to get a quote. The Flipkey site was helpful, but did not allow me to narrow down to a neighborhood. I found the Vacation Rentals site to be very helpful (they do say they are a part of home away, but they have a much better site). You can narrow your search to a neighborhood, and the list indicates the exact location, how many rooms, how many it will sleep, and usually the cost (some I had to click through to see the description to view the price). You can even search by map.

Ha, that's great....we've already established the breakfast and dinner rule as well. Kind of apprehensive about trying to keep up with four kids running in different directions but I know they're going to love the idea that they're in charge of their own day.

No help needed for the profile pic...just need some time to find one :) Thanks!

I do have a question for anyone with information....I've read on a few DCL blogs something about a character tea, does anyone know about this and if it's offered on our ship?

The last time we were on the Wonder (this past November), they did not have a tea, but they did have a character breakfast, and a Princess Meet and Greet. Both required tickets (just to hold your place, there is no additional cost). And before you ask how you get the tickets, read on....
Tickets are available either at the Guest services desk or another designated area (they will direct you to the right place if you ask) when you board. So, if these are things that you are interested in, hold off on grabbing a bite to eat a little bit when you board, and go straight to guest service to grab your tickets before they are all gone. Side note, my hubby and I did the character breakfast in Nov.(the boys did not want to get up after staying up for the Pirate party), and we had a great time, and got wonderful pictures.
I will check on old Navigators for similar itineraries to see if they have different offerings.

If you want the kiddos to get to know one another before we sail, we can get them connected. :chat:

Happy Monday! Only 44 more Mondays to go!!

Here is the latest in the installments of 'What NOT to do on your Excursion'.

5. Be clueless about the port
Do your research before you go. Especially if you book an independent excursion, you should have a good grasp on your whereabouts and feel comfortable getting around on your own in each port. Familiarize yourself with the country's culture, be aware of any dress codes, and find out what language the locals speak. If it's not your native tongue, go the extra mile and learn a few common words or phrases, such as "Hello," "Thank you" and "One round of shots, please!"

Introducing the teens beforehand would be great! Mine are a bit shy...but only at first.
I can either give you his email, or if y'all are going to be in Galveston the day before, we will be getting in around noon.
Also, if you are in Texas, we could probably have them get together this summer.

We are in Kansas...we will be coming in the day before but time is TBD as we'll be flying.
I don't know of any plans to be in Texas this summer but you never know!
If you want to share his email, I will pass it to my teens (this may take some prompting to get them to make the first move...because, teens). I'm getting close to my tenth post and you can pm it to me then. Thanks for thinking of linking them up!

Sure, once you hit 10, I will send you the information for the FE, and include his email.
Just curious, are you close to the Schlitterbahn in Kansas ?

We are a stone throw away from Schlitterbahn!!! :)
LOL :D
We live in its birth place! Our youngest will be starting his second year as a life guard at Schlitterbahn #1 here very shortly.

By the way, congratulations on reaching 10. I am out of the house for the evening. I will get the PM 's off to you as soon as I can.

Totally forgot to post that we have officially joined this sailing!! We are booked at the harbor house in Galveston the night before. I understand there is no need for transportation since so close to the terminal? We won't have a clue on arrival time in Texas, will be flying from Minnesota & SW won't have their January flights available til prob late summer :/ Teenager here also! Our last cruise he sat on the pool deck eating ice cream cones all day...hoping he makes some friends this time!

Welcome aboard MNnice!
:welcome::welcome::welcome:
I will add you to the roll call. Be sure to check out the group activities on the first page of this thread, and let me know if you are interested in any of them.
One of my best friends from 2 sailings back is from Minnesota.
Good choice on the Harbor House. So far there are 3 of us staying there. We should all do dinner or something.
So, how old is your teen? He would have loved the meet and mingle we had on our Nov. sailing. We did an ice cream social. But to be perfectly honest, even though my boys love the teen areas, the reason they continue to choose cruising over the parks is for the food (mainly ice cream, pizza and fries).

It is a small world after all! :) Mine have not committed yet to lifeguarding for Schlitterbahn but might next year...for this year they are lifeguarding at our local pool.
