Disney Wonder crossing the Panama Canal, Aug 26, 2016

That sounds pretty annoying. Not knowing when school starts is no fun.
I find it a bit funny that school starts a few day before a holiday. Wouldn't it make more sense to start right after the holiday? Well, what do I know :rotfl2: our holidays are very predictable here.

The problem is that we are in the Northeast, and snow days are a huge issue. This year we started after Labor Day, and ended up with 6 snow days. Our last day of school is now 6/26.... So they try to avoid that by starting a little earlier. Next year we're starting the Monday before Labor Day, but I don't know about 2016 yet.

Just thought I'd say hi to fellow cruisers :) I've been sick fora few days in Lhasa (Tibet) so I've been catching up on DIS reading :wave2:

Okay, I understand. We do get quite a lot of snow here, but we don't have snow days here in Austria. We have a fixed school holiday schedule, so this was a bit a confusing in the beginning, but now I get it. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you for the schedule to work out. :goodvibes

Hope you feel better now! And :woohoo: for being caught up on the DIS! :wave2:

My Mom (78), Sister (58) and myself (54) will be on this cruise. This will be my sister's first cruise. My younger brother, with whom I was very close, passed away unexpectedly in 2012. My sister and I have never been particularly close, but with my Mom getting older, I decided to invite my sister on this cruise as well so that (hopefully) she and I can do a little "bonding" and grow closer together. :flower3: DH isn't particularly happy that I'm leaving him home, but I told him that this is going to be a "girl's only" trip and someone needed to stay home and get DD moved back into her college dorm room again next fall. :goodvibes I do feel a little guilty taking a full 2 weeks' vacation without DH, but I'll get over it. :rotfl:

I posted this on the main forum as well.....We'll be on the 2016 EB Panama Canal cruise August 26 - Sept 9, 2016 on the Wonder. I remember seeing somewhere on the DIS that someone had created this really clever image for their 2014 PC Cruise t-shirts, but now I can't find it or whom despite searching through the DISigns threads. If possible, I'd like to see if some creative person could create a similar jpeg file for me (without Goofy) That says "Cruisin' thru the Panama Canal" "Eastbound August 26, 2016" Many thanks

We are THRILLED to be booked on this cruise! We did a 7 night Mexican Riveria with Disney a few years back and it was magical. We will be: Myself - April (Mom), DH - Greg (Dad), Grammy, DD - LES(11), and DD - LJS (9).
We surprised the girls when we went on the last cruise, but it think this one is too long to get away with that, so we will come up with a scavanger hunt next summer and have them figure out the clues. I am dying to tell them! We will be doing Mexico on NCL this October and the girls keep talking about how much better Disney is than NCL.
I thought I was a member of this board last time we cruised, but it's making me sign up again, so I'm off to try to figure that out.

I think we will be up for a FE also.
See you soon!!!!!!!!!

Glad to have you aboard!! They updated this board and afterwards I too had to sign up again. I was MrsMork, now MrsMork1. We have a large group sailing with us - 10 so far and maybe a couple more will join us. Fun, fun, fun!!

Welcome to the group!
I am sure you are going to have a great cruise, despite your DH "having to stay" home. ;)
We are so excited for this cruise and to see the group growing.

Welcome to our cruise thread!
I admire you to even attempt to keep this cruise a secret from your girls! When we had decided on it I was telling more or less everyone about it. :rotfl2:
I hope you let us know about your NCL cruise.

Please let me know when you decide if you want to join the FE. I would love to put you on the list. :goodvibes

So excited for this! This will be my husband's third Disney cruise (he went as a child) and my second cruise!!! And we've convinced my parents to come along on their first cruise! Counting down the days already.

I am very happy to see our cruise group grow.
What a great cruise for your parents to go on for their first cruise. I am pretty sure they will be hooked.

Great to know that you loved your west bound Panama Canal Cruise so much you are now doing the east bound - AND bringing the whole family!
I could not agree with you more on two weeks on board. We did a back to back on the Fantasy in 2013 and it was awesome and we spending 12 nights in the Med was not bad either.

Hey guys! I'm not signing up for the FE just yet cause people vacationing are a bit up in the air.
My husband and I are separated now so not sure what will come of next year. I do have a few friends that are HUGE into Disney and would love to try a disney cruise, so fingers crossed that I can still go! :D

P.S. No worries either, seriously, I'm rather happy now :)

No problem, we still have over 400 days to go until our cruise and there is plenty of time should you decide to sign up for the FE.
I hope everything will work out in your favour and your friends decide to join you on the cruise.

Nevertheless, sending a big hug to you anyway - one can never have enough of those. ;)

Does anyone know if we will need to get any special vaccinations since we will be in Columbia? And how do I update my signature and photo on this board?? I can't figure it out!

No idea about the vaccinations, but to update signature and avatar is easy. Go to the top of the page, there on the right hand side you will find your user name. Put your mouse over it and a drop down menu will appear. You can then go to Avatar for a photo and Signature to update that - pretty easy from there on. Hope that helps.

We are just the two of us for this cruise (Rog & Pam) meeting up with friends we met on a previous cruise. It'll be our 6th cruise (all DCL) but the longest so far. We no longer have school issues (sorry to those of you who have those tough decisions) but being self employed has its own unique scheduling challenges. Sooooo, we decided to simply make a statement about being away and do it. So happy and excited to have committed to the journey. Look forward to meeting more of you here and aboard.

My husband (DCHill613) and I will be on this cruise! It will be his 5th and my 6th disney cruise. By then, we will also have been on a Royal Caribbean cruise, so it will be our 6th and 7th cruise, respectively. We are very excited about this cruise and are also interested in the FE when it gets going!
