Disney Wonder - Alaska - August 10, 2015

Hello -

My name is Michelle and we are planning on being on the Aug 10, 2015 sailing.

It will be myself and husband Vince. This will be our second cruise - both DCL. And my Mom Paige and stepdad Doc. This will be their third cruise - one RCL, one DCL. And Vince's Mom Belva and sister Brenda. This will be their first cruise.

Mom has always wanted to go to Alaska and Vince & I love watching the Alaska shows and gave serious thought to moving there when he got his graduate degree. We did our first cruise with Mom & Doc in Oct 2013 on the Dream (4day). Of course, we loved it. So decided our next cruise will be to Alaska and Vince's family had decided to join us.

We have a great Dreams Unlimited travel agent and when we reserved a navigator's verandah, she managed to snag us one of the secret verandah rooms. Mom has a regular verandah next door and B&B have an inside across the hall.

Anyway. Later. Though it is still so far away we are really excited and looking forward to our next Disney Cruise.

Welcome to the group! I also have one of the secret verandah rooms. :-) We are coming in a group of 3 as well. My oldest daughter will be coming with her family and family friends! :-) Can't wait to meet everyone!

Hi! We want to do the Alaska cruise next summer but can't decide between early summer and late summer...:confused3 If you had the same dilemma, how did you decide? For now, we are leaning toward this cruise but haven't booked it yet.:cool1:

I asked here on Disboards in a new thread and in the end I looked forward to it being just a little warmer and I read where a few people didn't get to do as much or get as close to as much because of the ice in early summer.

I'm also a teacher and thought I'd like the summer to prepare FE gifts, gather materials we need/want to take, etc.

Good luck on making your decision.

One thing that I heard about August as opposed to end of May and June is that the bug life is at their lowest point. Meaning that the mosquito population is at their lowest point. There won't be as many out as earlier in the summer.

So we have put down our deposit and super excited for this cruise. A few months ago we booked it, then backed out for another Caribbean cruise, but I just couldn't resist Alaska! From what I have been told, there isn't a FE set up yet. I would like to go ahead and get the ball moving on that. I set the facebook group up, but I don't think we can post the links here. And if no one is spearheading the FE, I can do that too. If you search for "Disney Wonder 08/10/15 - 08/17/15" you will find it. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. It's myself - Rhiannon, my husband - Matt, and our son - Tyler (9). Super excited :-)

Hello everyone! My family is very excited for this cruise. This will be our 4th Disney cruise as we have done the Bahamian, Eastern and Western Caribbean as well. I booked this cruise along with six other families the 1st day bookings were available. We then "rebooked" this cruise when we sailed at Easter to score a price reduction and onboard credit! We are all coming in from Western and Central NY area. For some of the families that I booked, this will be their first time sailing with Disney. They are all excited. Spreading the word about FE's!

Welcome. I love how many people are taking this cruise in groups! It will be here before we know it!

I've added both of you to the 3rd post that lists everyone. I'm trying to use the first few posts to provide helpful information for everyone traveling so if you find anything, please share and I'll add it to those first posts.

I'm a teacher as well Mike and would love to do a week prior to the cruise. I was telling my daughter yesterday that I would love to road trip it from Texas and take a week or 2 to get there and find places to visit along the way. It probably won't ever happen, but I think it would be a fun experience.

K, that's more than a coincidence! MY name is also Kimberly and spelled the "right" way like yours is. I also have a 15 year old daughter AND I have been teaching for 18 years. Obviously we both also love Disney. If you say your favourite color is yellow and favourite animal is elephants, I'm gonna freak out! :P

Wow! That's some crazy coincidences....We totally have to meet up on the cruise. My daughter won't be 15 until next year (for the cruise), and I've been teaching 14 years.

What do you teach?

My favorite color is purple and I don't know if I have a favorite animal..

We just got back from the 9 night Greek Isles cruise on the Magic. What a cruise!!! While on-board we booked this Alaska one and we are already counting down the days. Everyone I talked to about Alaska got this warm and star crossed look in their eyes. I am thinking we are in for a fabulous trip :)
This will be our 3 DCL cruise.

Welcome to the group. I've never been on the Fantasy. That's still on my bucket list. :-)

Hi all,
My name is Jennifer. I am also a teacher. We live in Southern California about 15 minutes from Disneyland and we are DL annual passholders. We just got off the Fantasy last week where we were in the Western Caribbean. We booked this cruise while on board. Yay, $200 on board credit!! This will be our 3rd cruise on Disney. We also did the Mexican Riviera in 2008 on the Magic.
My DH and I cruised Alaska in 2004 on Princess and loved it. We will be traveling with our DD who will be 9 on the cruise and my father. My father cruised Alaska in 99 with my mother and has wanted to go back. She has since passed away, so this trip will be bittersweet for my father. This is his first Disney cruise. I will be celebrating my birthday on the first day of the cruise and my completion of my Masters degree. We will probably spend a few days before the cruise in Vancouver and Victoria.
We participated in the FE on our Fantasy cruise and had so much fun exchanging gifts and meeting everyone. We would like to be added to the FE list.

We are going. We are myself, DH, DS, DD, DMom, DD BFF.

This is our 6th Disney Cruise. We did Alaska in 2011. We have also done 1 Carnival, 1 Royal Caribbean, and are doing MSC cruise in November. That will bring our overall total to 9.

We want to participate in the FE exchange.

Awesome!!!

Hi! My name is Laurie and my family and I will be on this cruise! Just put in our deposit on Monday. My husband, Kerry, myself, and our boys (12) and (9) will be flying to Seattle then renting a car to drive to Vancouver a couple of days ahead of the cruise.

This is our first cruise and our first Disney Cruise (obviously) so I'm looking to read up on all kinds of tips and what to plan. I'm a big time planner when we go to WDW and I know my husband is hoping I don't plan us to death for this vacation. :rotfl:

What's FE? Door decorations?? What's the photo pricing for? Is there a Photo Pass style program?

So much to learn!

Hello,

My name is Julie and we just booked this cruise while on the Magic in Sept out of San Juan visiting the southern caribbean islands.....what a fantastic cruise that was!

This will be our 6th Disney Cruise and we have been on all three other ships so I am excited to see the Wonder!

We are making it a family adventure. My in-laws always wanted to go to Alaska and then my FIL got diagnosed with an brain tumor and died 4 months later at the age of 68. That was over a year ago so my my MIL really wants to visit Alaska for him.

My parents are also joining the adventure and this will be there very first cruise ever!

And then of course, my gang - DH Joe, DD Jordan (20), DD Jamie (14) and DS Josh (12).

Can't wait to chat and figure out all the planning :cheer2:

(I also requested to join the FB group)

Welcome to the group!

We finished our last Disney trip before this cruise this month so now I'm ready to head into August planning mode. WOOHOO!

FE = Fish Extender; It's a gift giving group that exchanges a gift while on the cruise. We love it.

Photos are expensive but worth it (IMO). But much more expensive than Disney World Photopass.

Our party has changed a little. My brother and sister-in-law are also joining us and my dad is bringing a lady friend with him. Our group now totals 7. We are going all out on a big family vacation. Only my DH, DD , and I will be participating in the FE. Can you please update that list? Thanks!
