Disney Wonder 10/26/14 - Western Caribbean

I cant wait and any suggestions you can pass along to a newbie for the FE's that you can think of pls do so, I was telling the kids about it yesterday and they were laughing and telling me how cute I am for the excitement haha my mom is really excited to do it too. We havent been added to the FB page yet I just assume shes been busy this weekend cant wait to get to know everyone. Wondering if our cruise will be filled with lots of people who are new cruisers or just not a full cruise since we seem to not have many people for this cruise yet

I think the one who started the FB page and controls it is on another cruise this week. I'm sure she will update requests as soon as she is able.
My DIL Debie is starting to make the FE for our rooms and we are starting to gather supplies to put together are gifts. Last year we booked in September and went in February. With the holidays time flew by and we were doing everything so last minute. We are trying to be more organized this year - we will see how that works for us. Lol

Haha awesome if she is wishing I was Ive debated doing a quick 3 day bahama before oct just to go lol we live in so florida so for us the ports are close. My older daughter is graduating this year from HS and my stepdaughter is 16 in Aug so big year of celebrations so may not get to do a cruise before hand but im going to try haha ... My mom and I have been discussing the FE's and we plan to start early too so that we can be organized especially since its our first. How did you go about doing the FE's did all of you split up and do different cabins or did you go together? seems like it could take awhile to go to each room and drop off.

Hey guys! My name is Lydia, and my fiance Dave and I are getting married on this cruise!

We originally planned it as a very casual, private elopement with us and maybe two friends. However word got out, and we are up to 45 guests! You will definitely be seeing us around the ship.

Excited to be cruising with all of you :)

We did not split up. We only had to rooms last time and our FE closed early with 20 rooms - 60 people. So another group started. That group closed with 10 rooms and I believe 25 people. Another group started and that ran until a week before leaving. We signed up for the 1st two groups and on the 1st morning out took a tour of the ship dropping off our FE gifts at that time. It was fun and most of the kids came with us and helped. We will decide as time goes on when we want to cut off people to join the group. Lots of people sign up later.

That is so cool you're going to get married on the cruise and how fun to have so many joining you. Is this your first cruise?

Thanks Sue! And no, this will be my 14th cruise with Disney. Dave has never cruised though so I am very excited to share the experience with him.
I haven't been on a cruise since I was a teenager with my family though so I would love to get some advice on things to do as a couple [= I remember going as a kid and thinking it couldn't be nearly as fun for adults as it was for me in the Oceaneers Lab ;)

uggh... I am all about the fe right now!!! it is all i can do to not go crazy... As Sue said we kind of wound up rushing our fe stuff last cruise cause of the holidays and we didn't really know just what to expect.... once we recieved a few gifts I honestly thought our gifts sucked... so i posted on our old fb page and asked and the ones who still check it said that they all loved it. we each made homemade drawstring bags, my room i did snacks, (fruit snack, cheese snadwiches, slim jim, pack of gum, couple mints) sue's room the had an assortment of candy. we both kind of had the plan that the bags could be taken to the shows and movies so you didn't have to buy snacks. even after getting the responses that people loved them I am trying to make sure that i don't feel like i gave less of a gift as others again, if that makes any sense!! Anyways I have a few different items ordered already so i can get started and hopefully keep me occupied for a while...

:wave2: hello welcome!!!

Have to admit I am a bit jealous!!! How cool is that to have a disney wedding!!! my husband and I will be celebrating our 8th anniversary on this cruise.... We want to renew our vowa for our 10th anniversary, I have been thinking of doing it on a cruise .... maybe I will have to get some pointers on what all you have to do and who to contact!!

Regina, just wanted to let you know.... yes Tacey Atkinson is the admin for our fb group and i looked back at a previous post, she is on a 4 night on the magic right now.... and Crystal Steers said that she will organize a fe once she "gets back from this weeks cruise"
oh how jealous i am of them as well!! lol

there is a part of me that wonders if we shouldn't start a fe on the dis boards as well as the fb group. simply because there are going to be some that will be on fb that don't know about DISboards and vise versa. and then there are going to be those who can only keep up with one board.... so like for those who decide fb is easier to keep up with they can do the fe in that group and those who feel the DISboards are easier to keep up with could do the fe here..... and if some chose to they could participate in both! :p I would hate to hear of people being left out or not getting to do it cause they didn't know...... but i guess that is something that can be decided later..... who knows maybe in july (just threw a date out there) we could reconsider /re-evaluate and see what peoples think...

And now i think I am just starting to ramble because for some unknown reason I am not tired and I am still up at 1am. So I think I shall say goodnight to you all and hope that we see somemore new "faces" soon. :faint:

Again welcome to all the new people and can't wait to get to know you all better!

funny to quote myself, but I just posted on the fb group post about the fe, asking to make a google doc so we can post the link over here too then that way everyone can sign up on the same list and if it gets to big we can then split it up in to multiple groups..... solves my little problem..... now if i can just solve my problem with going to sleep!!!! anyone have a huge hammer i can borrow for a min!!???????

Hey! Looks like we will be sharing an anniversary! How cool! I would definitely recommend doing a vow renewal with Disney. Their package (in my opinion) gives the most bang for your buck, and of course everything Disney does is magical ;) I have a planning journal (link in my signature) if you want to check out all my crazy planning [= and feel free to hit me up with questions whenever you want! The whole experience has be awesome thus far.

As far as who to contact, I called the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings number which is (321) 939-4610. They only book weddings and renewals for cruises that have already been announced though. All you have to do is book your cruise and then book the renewal package, and put deposits down. Then they assign you to a Disney wedding coordinator and you get a planning guide which you fill out and return two months before the cruise. Easy as pie!

If you have any questions feel free to ask, as you can see I love to talk about it! Haha

Lydia, just read your planning journal. Your dress is gorgeous. I hope your wedding is in the atrium on port day. I'm not going on shore and may have to steal a peek. Watching a princess marrying her prince would make my day.
My hubby - who refuses to go on a cruise - and I will celebrate 40 years in May. It was the Vietnam era and though he was not in the war zone, we got married and spent the 1st two months apart before I could join him. Then the month before our 1st anniversary he was sent to a remote base for a year. Seemed like we had been married forever before we could actually set up a home together.

WOW, just reading your journal has really added to my wanting to renew our vows dcl style. not sure that will honestly be within our budget but i have about 2 years to decide that! we won't be quite sharing an aniversary. ours is Oct 14th but i figure its close enough most wouldn't even question it.

wow your dress is beautiful, i love the idea of your bridesmaids wearing coctail dresses;.... from a bridewsmaid, and fellow cruiser MUCH easier to pack!

I have to agree with my mother in law gamax7 that I hope to be able to steal a peek at some of your wedding that would be awesome!!

Aww thanks so much Miss Sue! And congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! 40 years is so inspiring for me [= You are absolutely welcome to peek on our wedding, and I will keep you guys posted as to when and where it will be. The cruise finalizes the details 45 days before, but I am hoping for atrium as well. Ideally I would prefer day at sea, but I wouldn't mind the port day as long as it is later in the day so we can still spend some time in beautiful Mexico [=

Thanks Debi! You all are more than welcome to peek at us, hopefully we are in the atrium so you can! We are also probably going to one of the lounges in the evening to toast and whatnot so I will let you guys know when details are finalized if you want to pop by [=

As far as I know the prices are the same for weddings and renewals. Our package is $3,000, which includes the space, cake, pianist, champagne, flowers, chairs, officiant, 10 guests (including bride and groom), dinner at Palo for 2 and a $100 stateroom credit. Photography is extra, but only by a few hundred. The whole thing is a little bit pricier for us though because we have to pay $20 per additional guest, and we are taking our own photographer and officiant. Still well under what a typical wedding costs (average wedding is 15-20k not including honeymoon) and we are doing everything for under 10k including honeymoon [=

I will go along with whatever you ladies think works best for our cruise, I wasnt sure if I wanted to do it at first my biggest concern was getting in one of those huge groups and trying to come up with affordable things and try to do good ones as well as find the time was a little offputting at first but finding the FB pages and such gave me the information to help ease my mind.

Thanks for all the insight too I like hearing about how your first FE was and what you did and got and I think everyone goes through the was mine good enough as I am already thinking that and I havent even decided on what to do yet hahahaaa

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Thank you so much! I would highly recommend going Disney for renewals...it is so magical!

I just read your journal and now I am even more excited for you than I was knowing you were a disney bride and makes me want to peek more than before with the others. I so hope they get married on the first night and keep you out of the Cadillac room lol.
