I recently booked our first Disney cruise...

I have never cruised before so i have no idea what i just got myself into...

any tips or tricks would be great...

and can someone explain this fish thingy??

welcome to the group! You are just going to love DCL
we will be on this cruise too and this will be our 3rd. We've never sailed out of Miami though, so this will be new to us too in a way.
The "fish thing" is an organized gift exchange with other members. If you do a search on here you will find tons of information on it. You don't need to participate but it's so much fun! You give gifts and you receive them too It could be anything from candies to homemade trinkets. I'll see if I can find the link for you to better explain it

Nope we are definitely cruising out of Miami. Honest we are and we would rather cruise out of Port Canaveral but ours isn't leaving there. I just found out why this is happening. Our cruise threads got mixed. If you go to the meets and clic on the January 9 2015 Wonder cruise it takes you to this thread.

I sent a PM to the Irish Cowboy to see how the threads mysteriously merged and if we can be split back up

I'm new to this forum. We are sailing on the Jan 9th out of Miami. The family can't wait. I've been digging up tons of information from the various forums.

This will be my 3rd sailing with Disney, but the rest of the family, DH, DD and DS have not sailed at all.

I am traveling with my sisters, and one of them has never cruised before. I am so excited for her!!! My other sister has been on one Disney cruise before...she went to Alaska with us on the Wonder. She is thrilled to get back on that ship again! Let's hope the weather is good.

The thread was causing more confusion with the Dream 3 day cruise than us but I reported it to the admins who answered back to clic on the inappropriate button
and give the reason that the 2 threads were mixed. It was fixed the next day but not without repercussions. My wife was sent a warning for mentioning another site...

Hello everyone!!

I am taking this cruise, Disney Wonder January 9th-14th 2015.
This will be our 2nd cruise, our being on the Disney dream. However we went all out and decorated our door. We saw a ton of people with Fish Extenders and want to be apart of it this year!

I am not 100% on how it works other than a group of people sign up, etc, leave gifts while on the cruise. Anyways if anyone wants to explain this more to me. Please do! I will also be looking more on the forum here too to learn!
Long story short, I would love to participate!

We are also looking for a hotel. We want transfers from the airport and to the port. We would also like to be in the beach. We are having trouble finding a beach hotel with transfers though.

Hello! My family is so crazy excited. My mother and husband, Matt and daughter Eden with my sister Patricia and her husband Yutien will be leaving from Miami January 9. We will try to be ready to sail, bring goodies for the FE. I have no idea where to sign up for it tho. Please help! I've never sailed with Disney. Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine still managing meet and FE discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM. If no one comes forward to organize a FE for this cruise, perhaps someone can start that right in this thread.
