We have always gone to Disney as a couple but now we have a baby. How will this trip be different for us? Any suggestions on making the trip go smoothly?

We have been 5 times with our wonderful daughter. She just turned 17 months. The 1st time was kind of weird. We knew how to "do" WDW and we new how to "do" Kaleigh, but putting the 2 together was a new experience.

We like to follow her lead. Some days, she wants to ride on the rides, but has no patience to wait in any kind of a line. We choose the shortest lines we can find and ride those. We don't baby swap. We will wait until we can all ride together or have someone to watch Kaleigh, like this past December.

Kaleigh loves to walk!!! We spend a lot of time just letting her walk where she wants. One time she walked me right onto the Imagination ride in Epcot. She loves Figment!!!!!!

Kaleigh also likes to try new foods. We use the World Showcase as a way to expose her to different foods. This past trip she ate cous cous and lentil salad in Morocco.

Make sure you take advantage of the baby centers in each of the parks. They are much nicer than the bathrooms for changing you little one. You can even take a break and watch some TV or play with some toys. They also have highchairs and just about everything you could possbily need for a baby for sale.

Kaleigh loves the characters, so they are important for us to find, especially Pooh.

We try to keep to a somewhat regular schedule for her. Bedtime is about an hour later than at home. Naps are in the stroller unless she is really tired, then we go back to the room.

We try to keep everything low key. We don't try to visit all the parks or do everything in the parks.

My son will be 17 months next week when we go. We are staying on property and he usually goes to bed before 8pm. I am curious if any of you go out after your kids go to bed?? Meaning one night I would go out alone and then the next my husband. This way we can do things we would not be able to do with my boy. We are not looking forward to not being able to ride alot of our favorites together... Rockin Rollercoster and such... We usually go with friends or family, but this is our "first family" trip. I know we will have a blast, but just curious if anyone else did or had this idea...

Thanks!!

We used kidsniteout.com after reading many great reviews from this site. She was a great "older" woman who sat down with us and asked us all the questions she needed to know, she brought a bag of age appropriate toys and our son (17mo) warmed up to her after about 5-10 minutes. We left and waited outside the door to listen. We just heard them playing and he seemd fine. I would use them again. They go through Disney training unlike some other child care services. They have criminal background check s and are fingerprinted. DH and I went out for a night for dinner and Cirque. Came home around 11:00 and he was asleep on his pallet on the floor. They give you a report at the end and tell you want they did and how they acted. She was very nice and i had seen her name mentioned on this site..I cannot remeber her name right now..last name Velasquez (Sylvia maybe).
