Disney Wishing at DLP: Day One January 2012

Pre- trip report
Day 0​

Monday 9th January

Up early, quick showers and make ourselves look pretty before checking out. Made our way to Macdonalds which opened at 5am and was just outside Kingscross, they however didn't have seating or the breakfast menu until 6am. We couldn't handle the all nighters eating their cheese burgers at this time, so we grabbed some drinks and found our way to St.Pancras.

We found the ticket machines easily (just opposite check in) got them printed off and were able to check in straight away

We went to the 'Undercroftbar' for breakfast, two sausage/egg/tomato baps and an orange juice- £11.70. They were good

We got some sandwiches, drinks, haribo and crisps- £13 from WHSmith for on the train. We found a few seats and just lounged out a before before our platform was called- it all seemed fairly quick and didn't seem like me were waiting around for ages.

We found our seats easy enough, and the journey was fine. We had a little snooze, listened to some music & played a few games on the ipad. We stopped at Lille for about an hour, so loo break and sandwiches were needed. It is cold in Lille station just FYI!!!

Soon enough our platform was called and we made our way to the platform to be met by our double decker train- 'MAZING!

We got into Disney at around midday, we both felt really tired, but knowing they we had just arrived at Disneyland really made us get on with the day. We made our way through the village to Santa Fe, just following the signs & we got there fine- it says it takes 15mins, and I'd say that was pretty spot it. It's a nice walk too, and is pretty straight and easy. Finding the hotel was fine, finding the reception- not so easy! What a pain in the bottom!!! We literally went around the whole hotel, silly people. FINALLY found it and had a little queue for check in. The CM behind the desk was lush, she was so lovely! I forgot her name, but she was just fab. We were happy to find out our room was ready Building 28, room 021. Literally a quick drop off, change of shoes for us both and away we went- Disneyland Babyyyy.

We didn't rush the walk there, all the whole day really, just took it at a nice pace and was just lovely. The parks were pretty quiet, so there was no need to run around everywhere. I stopped to take photos every 5 seconds, through the village and into the park. Hello Mrs. Snap Happy

Some of the Christmas decs were still up, so it was actually really nice to still see these, although a bit weird as Christmas seems forever ago

I got a little emosh seeing the castle, oh how gorgeous it is!

We made our way up main street and then through the castle, literally just taking everything in. Aw yes, we were home, I love how amazing it makes you feel. Such a warm feeling in side
We then decided to do some rides, BTM was a 20min but probably went a little faster. We then headed of to Phantom Manor, it's not as good as I remember- although I do love a ghost house. Headed over to Space Mountain- 5mins, thank you very much & then onto Buzz. Sam just beats me all the time, so awful at it, I don't even get how I'm so bad!

We headed out of the park, of course taking photos on the way and just enjoyed being there

On the way out I popped into City Hall to get a Birthday badge- it is my Birthday trip after all. The lovely people behind the desk asked if it was my Birthday & gave me a pen to fill out my name on the badge. As I was doing it, they were talking in french to each other- all I recognised was numbers (I now know this was Mickeys #) As I finished, the guy told me to come into the room next door as someone had heard it was my Birthday. At this point I knew what was happening and actually felt like a 10year child, it was amazing. Mickey was on the phone, wishing my a happy Birthday! I literally smiled through out the whole thing, and at one point I thought I was going to cry- jeez, sort yourself out! It was truly special though and made my day
This is Disney!!

We then headed out the park and popped to Earl of Sandwich, we shared a Hawaiian, which is amazing- nom nom! and got a coffee and hot chocolate.

We walked back to Santa Fe and had a quick wash and change around for our 6pm res at Cafe Mickeys. We got changed and cracked open our mini drinks before making our way to the Village

Off to Cafe Mickeys we trotted with photos of the way (please expect nothing less)

Now I have mixed feelings about Cafe Mickeys- when we got there the 'host' guy wasn't very Disney cheery, and it all seemed a bit stressed in there. We were shown to our seats, and our waitress was then a doll, she was lovely! We ordered a starter to share- the garlic pizza, it was good but a little dry. During this some of characters started coming out. They made there way through the tables to see everyone, at our table a lot of them were quick to have a photo and leave though- which was a shame (because we were two adults?) Mickey, Pluto, Goofy and Smee were the first ones out. The first Mickey was not hanging around, I think he had a bad day!

Our mains came out and they were truly amazing, the food was immense! I loved it! I had 'Auras Choice' (breaded turkey/cheese sauce/pasta) and Sam had 'Pluto's Steak' We also got a wine and a beer for our drinks.

Tigger and Eeyore then arrive, however Tigger missed our table and the one next to us which was actually really disappointing

A few more character came out during our meal, the interaction was good, but just brief- but I understand they have a lot of people/tables to visit

We went for desserts, as I was hoping Donald would come out- so wanted to hang around a bit longer. He didn't, which was a little disappointing just because he is my fav- but I knew he may not
Desserts were yummy again- so good! I also ordered another wine

During this time Mickey #2 came out and he was a lot happier, and interaction was a lot better

The bill came to 84Euros (faints a little) But we did eat a lot, but this was to make the most of it, and to see all the characters. It did get a lot busier the second part of the meal, so I'm glad we booked- which was really easy to do! The food was GOOD! The mains were fab. I generally wouldn't have gone there if the characters weren't there though, and I think you pay for that in the meal prices. I was slightly disappointed with the characters, but at the same time I'm glad we did give it ago.

We then headed over to HNY to have a drink in the bar, we had thought about going over to Newport Bay, but in the end we couldn't be bothered to walk all the way over there
HNY was nice, but from when we first saw the two (from the outside) we preferred NPB

And guess what I got.........EEEEE

Hello Glow-tini, and how are you today!
We paid 18Euros for that and a beer. The bar was lovely, full of adults drinking posh drinks, loved the atmosphere in here.
We decided to go for another drink, but at Santa Fe (hello cheaper drinks prices) a beer and a wine later and scrapping our wallets, we made our way back to our room ready for our first full day in the parks
