Disney Wilderness lodge

I was just wondering who has stayed there ? did you like it ? was it really worth the money ? It is just myself and my hubby going in June for his birthday again in 2006!! I can't wait. We are just comparing hotels right now

what about animal kingdom ? has anyone stayed at both ? which ones did you like better? does anyone have pictures of those rooms ?

You might get more responses on the resort board. That board is for the Disney resorts.

We stayed at WLV on our trip last August, and I can honestly say it was our favorite trip ever. It really has that "resort" feel. The pools were fun, the setting over the lake is gorgeous, everything is convenient on-site, boat ride to MK was easy, one night we watched the MK fireworks from the hot tub. Bike and boat rentals, watching the water parade, magic all the way around. I'd definitely do it again.

Try allearsnet for looking at room photos. And you might want to post your question on the DIS Resorts Board as well. You'll get lots of opinions and ideas there.

Diseny resorts are on WDW property and owned by Walt Disney World. Guests have access to certain privileges for staying there. there are some exceptions, such as the Swan and Dolphin, which are on WDW property but not owned by WDW. There is a specific board "the resorts board" for discussing any WDW resort, including WL.

This board is for discussing off-site accomodations.

By the way, we stayed at WL this year and did not like it at all -- too loud and crazy for us. But we are in a very small minority -- most love it.

I would have to say these are all the reasons this is the only resort we stay at!

I have stayed at both and liked the Wilderness Lodge the best. AKL is gorgeous and it is great to see all of the animals outside your balcony and I love their pool. WL is equally as gorgeous and also has a nice pool. I like WL better because it is a bigger resort with a lot more to offer. There are walking trails and bikes that you can rent and also carriage rides. Also, the AKL is somewhat far removed from everything and you have to take a bus to all Disney areas. WL has a nice boat ride to the CR where you can get on the monorail. It also has a nice boat ride to MK.

The other reason I like WL lodge better is that it is closer to MK and the TTA so it is easier to leave the parks and go back to the resort to relax in the afternoon before heading back to the parks later in the day.

We have stayed at both. I love the AKL, but WL is my favorite. There is more to do at the WL as mentioned, but it's the actual themeing that I love. I grew up with a cottage in the Adirondack mountains, and that's what the WL reminds me of. AKL has better fast food options, but I heard that the WL is rehabing theirs. AKL also has a better pool, but WL is on a lake. You'll love either one.

DW and I have stayed at both WL and AKL and we LOVE WL !!!!! The best thing with WL , is it is closer to Magic Kingdom and you have the bus or the boat. It also has that welcome home felling when you walk into the lobby!!!!!! We'll be staying there December '06
and that will be our fifth stay at WL! Go and have a fantastic time and hope your husband has a Magical birthday
We liked AKL, but it just seems so far away from all the action!!!!!!!!!

the lobby is amazing

the food is good there to and the boat to MK is great

this is kinda like how we are.. when we go back to the hotel, we want it to be quite and relaxing...

but this hotel sounds like our hotel to stay at!!!

Thanks everyone!!! Also we are not sure if we are going to go to mk... we didnt last time.. last time we went to sea world and universel this time around i know i want to do mgm but not sure on what else
