Disney While Pregnant Tips!

On KS they warn against riding if pregnant but my wife did it because all the reviews said it isn't that bumpy - and it isn't.

Dinosaur is a bit bumpy and would definitely advise against.

Can't help on the other two...

It's sudden stops that are the problem with rides, and the risk they pose of abruption. Chances are you'll be fine, but I personally would never take the chance. (I know someone who abrupted, but luckily she was over 30 weeks; DH has seen many, many cases in otherwise "healthy" pregnancies.)

Disney does not really have any major thrill rides. A placental abruption can happen anytime, anywhere.

I would definitely still go!! I found out I was pregnant 4 weeks before our last trip, and I was 9/10 weeks along when we went. My nausea was horrendous, and we had to cancel some great FP+ last minute, but we still had a fantastic time! I didn't ride anything that had a pregnancy warning. For rides I was unsure about, I asked CMs. I think the only "big" ride I wound up going on was Soarin'. I know a lot of women go on some of the other rides anyway...but I personally didn't feel comfortable with it. Even as a big fan of the rides, I didn't feel like our trip lacked anything or that I "missed out" at all. It wound up being a much more relaxing, laid back trip, and I enjoyed Disney in a totally new way for me.

I have to admit, I did feel a little sad inside walking passed 7DMT after waiting seemingly forever for it to open, and then having a FP+ and having to cancel it. There was a split moment where I contemplated going on it anyway, but I just reminded myself I would be back and that I would ride it the next time. :)

Congrats!! I went about 27 weeks pregnant with my first and I'm going again 24 weeks pregnant with my 2nd. We want to get one more visit in with our 2 1/2 year old while he is still free and before his bro/sis comes along. Disney is really a great place to go while pregnant since there are so many opportunities to sit and eat/drink.

At 27 weeks I did the safaris (no bumpier than roads at home), Soarin, and Maelstrom. The drops aren't really the issue i don't think - i did a tame log flume at a local amusement park while pregnant- the problem with splash mountain is the lap bar, so that's a no go as well. Other boat rides/log flumes don't have those, so you're fine to ride Frozen and Pirates. I skipped the roller coasters, test track, and dinosaur.

It's kind of fun to find other things to do while your party is riding other things - I did some extra character greetings that I never would have done, and a lot of extra sitting and drinking water/soaking up the atmosphere. If it hadn't been such an enjoyable experience during my first pregnancy I wouldn't be going back for more!

Also, to cut down on walking, for the first time ever, I booked a preferred room at Pop. It was really nice to be that close to the room once we got home. This time we're doing old key west in the hospitality house area for the same reason. We also took a couple cabs home from resorts to avoid the bus rush at park closing. Now I would über, but that wasn't as popular in 2014 :-)

Have a great time!!

Before I tell my little story, I say you should go. It sounds like Disney is such an important place for you and your husband, and of course everyone is different when they're pregnant. :)

I went at 12 weeks when pregnant with my third child, and I have to preface this by saying I was always extremely prone to morning sickness-hyperemesis gravidarum with all three- but my third was especially bad.(they say its worse with boys, and I believe it!) But I had felt okay the weeks before, and I thought I had a handle on my nausea. I got down there(it was in mid May) and I got hot, did too much and got so sick by the third day I was so ill I had to go to bed. Long story short, I was dehydrated, couldn't keep anything down and I had to ride back home(8 hours!!) like that. It was pretty icky. I ended up on a drip and bedrest when I got home.

So, my advice would be to make sure you stay hydrated and cool. Since it's October, it should be great weather. Take it easy, and take those mid day rests if need be. Unless you have a ton of nausea, I'd say Soarin ought to be okay. Except for thrill rides, maybe tea cups, and TSM would be things I'd think twice about riding.

I hope you have a wonderful time!!

I thought it was going to be difficult waiting for my family to ride all my favorite rides (plus things like 7DMT I'd never gotten to go on before), but I ended up having a great time. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Like you said, the rides will be there next time.

Went at 15 weeks in December. My DH had a health scare 2 weeks before we went so neither of us could ride coasters, which was fine for our DS who was 4. I agree with advice to stay cool, take breaks and keep hydrated - when we last went in October the parks were still really hot in the 11am-3pm range. A good time to take a nap or get in some refreshing pool time. Rode Soarin' several times and the Safari once, no problem. Skipped Dinosaur. We did more spontaneous character meets then we would have had I not been pregnant which DS really loved, especially Chip n Dale. We were on the Free DP so lots of stops to use Snack Credits too!
