Disney Weight Loss

You should try eating good foods like veggies and fruits. Also, try to find Gluten-free foods. There's tons of them out there. And they taste just like or even better the foods with Gluten. Also, try and drink plenty of water. It flushes out salt and other stuff.

On the whole "Bikini in FL in Dec" thing. I live in FL and during the winter the water in the gulf can go as low as 60 something degrees. Plus, the wind coming off the water can make the beach pretty chilly. Sometimes it's warm though. If you're going to WDW though, that's a whole different story. As Disney's pools are heated. Not trying to be a kill joy. Just telling it as I know it.

I dont know what you are thinking unless you just want to be bikini ready by december. But me being from florida and everything i have one thing to say so listen carefully: It may be warmer down here in the winter than in the north but it is still cold enought to keep people out of the water. You will not wear a bikini in december in FL unless you want to get pnemonia!

But if ur just trying to be ready by then i suggest lots of water and AT LEAST a 30 minute walk every other day

Im from NY and Id wear a bikini in Florida in December. To people from the north Florida in December is quite warm

I'm from NH and we always go swimming during our winter trip(s) to Disney. I've been swimming in both December and February. Both were fine. It was a little cool getting out of the water, but no worse than a semi-cool summer day up here. I wear shorts, a tee shirt, and sandals in Decemer at WDW and laugh at all the people bundled up in sweatshirts and jackets and hats. It amuses me to no end.

As for losing weight, eat healthy foods. Fruit, Veggies, and Meat (just not large amounts of it or fatty chunks of it). Cut out soda and pretty much anything where there's a high sugar content. Like everybody said, aim for 1500-1700 calories a day (more if you plan on being active because you will burn them off).

For exercise, try running/walking/biking two or three times a week, lower body once or twice a week, upper body once or twice a week, and core once or twice a week. That was the work out I started with before track season and it got me into good shape prior to what has proven to be a tough season.

I don't have my own workout plan currently because of my track team having a practice work out (right now we do anywhere from .5-2 miles a day, lower body [three sets of leg crank circuits: step-in lunges, squats, jump-in lunges, skaters lunges, jump squats] twice a week, upper body [two or three push up circuits: do 1 push up and wait fifteen seconds, do two push ups and wait fifteen seconds, do three push ups and wait fifteen seconds, etc until you get to ten then do it backwards] twice a week, regular core [45 seconds of planks on each side and front and back] each day, hard core once a week [two or three sets of crunch circuits: regular crunches twenty five times, side crunches {both sides} twenty five times, back crunches twenty five times, jack knives twenty five times, lemon squeezers twenty five times]). I always lose weight during track season.

When it comes to losing weight, there's no one (or perfect) way to do it.

I've heard that you can increase your metabolism by eating several light meals throughout the day verses three big ones.

I'd say that the best thing to do is eat healthier. My sis is a health nut, and she has these books Eat This, Not That. There are several versions - she has the one for restaurants, the grocery store, and kids. It gives you the number of calories in key menu items at restaurants (typically the three highest calorie items and three lowest calorie items).

Also - exercise. Try to do about 20 minutes of cardio a day. Remember to warm up, then warm down.

Good luck!

ive just started a boxin club but its none contact so its mainly just running and other exerses for 30 mins then punchin a bag for 30 so i do them exersises at home !!! and i told my mom to eat my chocolate easter egg cuz it keeps staring at me when i go in the cupbourd!!!

As long as you eat breakfast, i dont think it is unhealthy for you to skip lunch.... eat a granola bar or something... and then eat dinner...ive never dieted, but i excercise...on wii fit lol...it tells you if you are healthy weight, underweight, or overweight, and based on that, it lets you set a goal, i was underweightm and needed to gain, i think having a goal really really helps.
So just try to be smarter with your meals, and if your full dont eat any more! :)
(Also, if your going to be eating disney meals, i say forget about trying to loose weight, and just eat there, and loose weight when you get back! :)

Perfect topic for me.. I'm a health freak. I have an account on a bodybuilding website for the nutritional information.

First question for anyone going on a diet, what's your weight/height/physical activity? I need this so you can find your maintenance calories. Second, how much weight do you plan on losing over what period of time? This is needed to find out the calorie deficit you should be doing.

Then to address fad diets... Special K diet is alright, but only for someone who's already at good weight and is just trying to drop a few pounds. For a 15-17 year old girl who's at 160+ pounds, it's not a good idea. The bowl of cereal at breakfast and lunch would only equate to a maximum of 500 calories, even with a small snack. Then a normal dinner's around 500 more calories. 1000 calories could possibly send your body into starvation mode, which is not at all what you want.

Another fad diet is the low-carb, keto, or Atkins diet. Keto is for either gender, but it needs to be done if you weight lift on a consistent basis [3 times a week]. If not, then Atkins diet should be the choice. One mistake people make with Atkins is not getting high quality fats. When you go on a low-carb diet, you want to actually consume a good amount of fat. On low-carb diets, the more fat [within a certain range for your calories], the better. Your body goes it what's called ketosis [hint the name for the Keto diet]. It uses fat as it's fuel source and the byproduct of burning the fat is called ketones. They replace the glucose so your brain can still function properly. It's completely safe to be in keto. I just got done with the Anabolic Diet, which is a form of a low-carb diet. I was eating approximately 150 grams of fat a day [recommended daily value for me is less than 65g]. However, because I was in ketosis and burning that fat, I ended up dropping 1% body fat in three weeks. If you do go on a low-carb diet, you'll notice that you may have dropped up to 6-7 lbs. in the first week. Don't worry about it. The lack of carbs releases water from the body. So basically, you've lost almost all water weight.

But, the diet I recommend is the 40/40/20 diet.. 40% of your calories come from carbs, 40% from protein, and 20% from fat. It's going to sound complicated, but it's quite simple. There are nine calories in one gram of fat, and four in a gram of protein and a carb, each. So, if you're eating on a 2,000 calorie diet, then you take:

2000 x .2 = 400 So, you should eat 400 calories from fat each day. Since there's nine calories in one gram of fat, you divide by nine.
400/9 = approximately 44.5 grams of fat each day

Same goes for protein and carbs.

2000 x .4 = 800/4 = 200 grams of carbs and protein each day. But, you really only need 1xLBM [lean body mass] of protein per day. So someone like me who's 13% body fat and 155 pounds would take 155 x .13 = approximately 20. Subtract 20 from 155

155 - 20 = 135 which is my lean body mass. So, in reality, I should be only consuming 135 grams of protein. So, the calories you've now taken out is added to the carbs. So,

200 - 135 = 65 and add that to your carbs 65 + 200 = 265

So, someone who eats 2000 calories a day on this basic diet should eat 44.5 grams of fat, 135 grams of protein, and 265 grams of carbs each day. If you choose to go with this diet and can't figure out how to get all the numbers [commonly referred to as your "macros"], then just ask me to get them for you. You should also do the same for the Atkins diet, which is typically 65/30/5 [fat/protein/carbs].

That's the general rule most nutritionist, bodybuilders, ect. use. It's the most proven through studies to help keep your body at a healthy level. Anymore questions, just ask away, haha.

Everyone is different. I don't understand how everyone thinks eating 2 meals is so unhealthy(Its not like I'm saying to eat)

It's not unhealthy, but it's not recommended. Say you're eating 1500 calories a day in two meals. Well, that's 750 per meal. Since not all of that can be used at that moment, it has to be stored. Carbs are converted to glucose.. Fat is stored in it. So, you're storing fat for later use. And you cannot use up all those calories since some of it's still going to be stored. Say you were to split those 1500 calories into five meals. Well, that's only 300 calories. Say you were to run that day. Eat in the morning and by the time you hit lunch, almost all of those 300 calories by lunch are burned. Then you eat lunch. Then you decide you're going to run at 6 mph pace for 30 minutes [around three miles] say 4-5 hours later. Eating a meal before that run well insure that all those 300 calories are burned, including some that were previously stored, which is a minimal amount, from breakfast and lunch and then some more that were stored from other times. Well, then you're looking at burning approximately 400 calories. Then when you're done running, you eat another meal. Because your heart rate's up, more calories are being burned than usual. Thus, by the time dinner's ready, you're ready for more calories. Then those calories are burned over-night as you sleep and you're ready to eat again in the morning.

The main point is, by spreading out your meals you almost garuntee that only the minimal amount of calories are stored as fat for later use. And if you eat more calories at once, it can actually slow your metabolism down, which means you may not be burning all of those calories, which creates a negative affect.

However, there's arguements saying that all the information I gave is false. There's a diet called the Warrior diet where you eat very small, organic meals for breakfast and lunch [500 calories max for someone on a 2000 calorie diet], but then load up at dinner [1500 calories]. Thus, all the calories you took in at dinner and stored and used at a later time [the next day as you're body gets a max of 500 calories throughout that day].

However, the Warrior diet has very minimal research done on it, as a typical diet with four-five meals has been proven to be more efficient for burning fat. That's why almost every nutritionist recommends the smaller meals.

Its funny you think that. I first started my diet by eating 3 meals, however I gained 8lbs. I eat a nice breakfast(2eggs,toast,a cookie) and come dinner I eat cereal, fudge bar, and sometimes a little bit of meat. If I told everyone how much I weight before you would be shocked!!! I sleep much better at night and have much more energy all day!!! I don't think you need 3 meals a day, 2 is more appropriate. And if everyone thinks eating 3 meals helps lose weight they need to think again!!! Once a week(my family eats out) I get anything I want. Not everyone can eat 3 meals and loss weight(I'm one of them).

Uhh, you're getting like at most 35 grams of protein, without the meat. That means that the weight you've been losing has been a lot.. a lot of muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. Also, with such low carbs, a lot is water weight too. Honestly, that's a terrible idea for a diet. It's quite unhealthy actually. You're going to lose weight, but it's not healthy weight.

and i told my mom to eat my chocolate easter egg cuz it keeps staring at me when i go in the cupbourd!!!

Next time, EAT THE FREAKING EGG. People think that with a diet you have to follow it everyday for every day of the week. The truth is, that's bad for you... psychologically. I do what's called a "re-feed" every week or two. It's basically where I say F-U diet and eat what I want. Psychologically, it's been proven to work better to do so. You're less likely to "cheat" or go away from your diet plan during the regular week if you do a "cheat day" [when you eat whatever the hell you want]. In the long run, it's not going to have a major effect. I mean, as long as you don't go overboard. I usually only go over my maintenance calories, or calories needed to stay at a consistent weight, by like 300 calories. And it takes 3500 calories to make one pound. So, in ten weeks time, I'll only be like one pound heavier by doing a cheat day. Trust me, the psychological advantage far outweighs following your diet 24/7.

thnx i will eat the egg and ill tell my mom not 2!!! its just the exersize that im struggling with im eatin all the right food weetabix with yogurt ,tuna and sweetcoorn sanwich and a banana and then a chicken dinner most nights! then i just change bits on each day to suit my cravings. but the only exersize i realy do is walk 2 skuwl and that takes about 3/4 mins so not much then sometimes i take my dog for a walk but that is it i dont no what to do!?!?!? x x x x

I dont like how you stated that. Just because your 160+ pounds as a teen doesnt mean your overwight.

I weigh 165 lbs but my weight is considered healthy because I'm 5'10
