So I have spent LOTS of time making my own wedding website for guests to visit, and it is nearly complete. Then I just got my LOA agreement by email, and a website address for our wedding website through Disney. I don't know what I should do now. I spent a lot of time on the one I made, and I really like it, but gusts can book their rooms and tickets through the one provided by Disney. Should I give guests both websites? Can you edit the website Disney gives you yourself? Thanks for any info.

The disney website is very basic and you can't edit it. I just included a link on the website I did to it, rather than give it out separately. I included on the first page and on the accommodations / ticket pages. It seems to have worked out fine.

That's a really good idea. On the STD can I ask Disney to put my own wedding website address?

You're welcome. I'm not sure how much they let you customize the Save the dates but it couldn't hurt to ask.

I can tell you from experience, they won't let you customize the STD. I asked the same thing. :confused3

Boo! :headache: I don't know how I can let me guests know about my website then. If they won't let me put my own website on the STD's, I don't want the one they designed. I want my guests to go on the one I spent countless hours putting together, not the one Disney made in 5 minutes.

Any suggestions on how I can get the word out about my website? I really don't want to mail something else so maybe just word of mouth?

Maybe you could send a text message, facebook, or an email to let people know? :goodvibes

I posted mine on facebook and sent out a message to my friends and family. Almost my entire family is on there so it worked out well enough.

I asked my wedding planner about this very same thing. She said that they could only but the Disney website on the STD. What they could do is put the link to the website you made on the Disney website they have made for you, I think she said it would be under the Registry tab. So as your guests are going through the tabs on your Disney wedding website, they would come across the one you made.

Hi - Did you try asking to add some text and a link to your website on the main page of your Disney-provided site?

You are allowed to submit text for a section called "Our Story" which is right on the main page. I would expect you could put a link to your site right there.

let us know how you make out!

Sorry to pirate: but I was wondering if you get your Disney site when you sign your LOA? I have been debating on creating my own site or waiting for the Disney one. We are getting married on 8.8.11

Thanks for any help!

When I was sent the draft LOA and draft STD I was given the link to the website that was already set up by Disney. If I would have know they did this, I might not have made my own, however, the website they make for you is very basic and you can't change anything on it without going through them, so you might want to make your own anyway.

Thanks! However I might leave this one to the pros and allow Disney to make it for me...this way I will have more time for other wedding related activities :rotfl: Thanks again and sorry for pirate: your thread!

We are waiting for our website and LOA to be released next week. It is our understanding that in order for our guests to received discounted room rates and tickets they must make reservations using the Disney produced website.

Just wanted to update everyone, they are letting me put my own website on the STD! I just got off the phone with DFTW and they changed the STD to my website! I don't know if they changed the rules about this recently since I know a few people said they asked and were told no. I am a little anxious to see them and make sure they everything is as I asked, they should be here in the next 2 weeks, so I will come back and update when they arrive.

So glad to hear that - I also got the Disney site and was shocked that you cannot edit anything on your own. I skipped the site I was offered via TheKnot.com but am thinking I might want to go back and get that one going...

I looked at doing the website on the knot as well, but you couldn't do as much as I wanted to change it. I ended up paying for a website from weebly.com. It wasn't that much and I really love it because you can do anything you want!
