Disney wedding cake flavors - what are the best combos?

In about 4 weeks my fiance and I will be getting married at the Grand Floridian Wedding Pavilion (12 PM) with about 50 guests attending. Afterwards we will have the reception at the Whitehall room (1-5 PM). One selection we are having a little trouble deciding is the cake. We will likely go with the Golden Scrolls cake and have three tiers with three different cake and filling combinations. We both like Chocolate, but also like fruit flavors as well. Since we were not able to go to Disney before the wedding to taste the flavors in person, we are guessing off a piece of paper as to what tastes the best.

Can anyone provide recommendations as to what flavors they really liked and did not like? Choices for each layer?

Thanks!

We are doing the Mad Hatter Cake in lilac & celadon green. With the Mad Hatter you cannot use fresh fruit fillings. Last week My mom, sis & I did the cake testing. I went in wanting yellow cake with milk choc mousse I left with:

Top Layer: Marble Cake with Milk Choc Mousse
Middle Layer: Marble Cake with Rasberry Mousse (AWESOME!)
Bottom Layer: Yellow Cake with White Choc Mousse

I loved the tropical Mousse we tried it was a very light mango flavor, would have been great with a white or yellow cake but I didn't see it as a wedding cake flavor. I didn't like the Amaretto or Baileys. The cake was so moist & the mousses so airy & light. YUMMY!!!!

DD had 2 cakes, one at the cake cutting & another at the wedding dinner at Yachtsman. So she had 4 different flavors & fillings:chocolate cake w/peanut butter cup filling, almond cake w/chocolate mousse & fresh strawberries, white sponge cake w/bavarian cream(custard) filling & fresh strwberries & marble cake w/chocolate mousse filling. I liked the bavarian crean w/strawberries, but she didn't. It did make the cake a bit mushy. It reminded me of strawberry short cake that I like but she doesn't. By far the real hit was the chocolate cake w/peanut butter filling. Everyone is still talking about it. In fact, they are having an informal home reception in a couple of weeks with another wedding cake & they will be having choc w/peanut butter filling. I called her EM & she got the recipe for the filling.

Ours was a white cake with the white chocolate mouse with fresh raspberries. It was delicious!

Thanks for the responses so far - they are helpful. We discussed it more tonight and think we might go with this combo...

Bottom Layer - Marble with Dark Chocolate Mouse
Middle Layer - Yellow with Strawberry Mouse
Top Layer - Chocolate with White Chocolate Mouse

What do you think? We probably will not go with a fruit filling to avoid the "mushy"ness.

sounds yummy...

we had vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse and passionfruit mousse...

mmm...

we also had chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse, but the passionfruit...waaaaay better! (and I'm a chocoholic!)

The choc cake was VERY Rich & I am a huge choc fan. I found the marble to be the happy medium. SOUND YUMMY! I want cake now & a big glass of milk!

This thread is making me hungry! All of your cakes sound really good, it will probably take us a while to pick a combo of cake and filling but this thread is helping to narrow down the choices :thumbsup2

I cannot say enough about how wonderful the raspberry mousse was! We did marble cake with the raspberry mousse and it was absolutely delicious!

We just got back from our planning session. Our cake:

Top & Bottom: Almond and Amaretto
Middle: Marble and Raspberry

It was a hard decision, but fun to make none the less..

The red velvet was to die for!!! Had I had a wedding cake in disney I would have had the red velvet with either amaretto or raspberry or one of each on separate layers...it was SO good! And I am a picky chocolate person...

were having the coral & shells cake with
chocolate cake with the dark chocolate mousse & strawberries
white cake with the white chocolate mousse & strawberries
then marble cake with chocolate mousse on the top.
were also having tiramisu cups.

before our tasting we really wanted the red velvet but it was stale & dry, no flavor what so ever and we also wanted the peanut butter filling but my fi found it to be to jiffy peanut butter for his taste.

35 days to go! :bride:
