You would think with all the imgination, magic, and technology that Disney has, they would have a half-way decent web site with efficient online resort, ticket, AND PS (and waiting list) registration system.

Sometimes I wonder if they run Disney' web site off some Commodore 64 with casette tape drive sitting behind a refreshment stand in the Magic Kingdom, and tended to by 100 monkeys on manual typewriters.

I am only laughing because I HAD a Commodore 64 with a tape drive... Now I know where it went!

It'd be great if there were a waiting list, but that's not going to happen. It wouldn't be feasable in a live booking situation. Both on line and on the telephone use the same data bases.

::yes:: Isn't it just an awful site? And it's soooo slooowww!!

I popped on there tonight just to get info on specific hotels since we had to book in a hurry and got so frustrated with how slow and multimedia filled it was that I jumped onto Deb's site (all ears) and got what I needed =) Very frustrating, indeed!

Yep, pretty pathetic that a company like Disney can't hire a decent web developer and get some decent servers.
And yes, I had a C64 with tape drive. I was so excited when I finally saved enough money, after mowing lawns all summer, to buy a floppy drive. Being able to load a game in 3 minutes was pure heaven compared to the 15 minutes it took with the tape drive. :)

:rotfl2: You're telling me! :badpc:

SEriously though, I would settle for just being able to check my stuff online, especially PS. Their website can never access my information even! :crazy2:

Actually, waiting list and live booking can exist hand in hand. At a previous employment my team developed something like that for a call center setting, where registrations were coming in via mail, fax, email, web, and phone. Just like all the agents are fighting with each other for a few spots in the databse, these other communication sources are doing the same.

Once a spot is freed, wait list is accessed. If the wait list is empty for that event and time/date, then it is opened up for availability.

I am just surprised at Disney IT infrastructure. Maybe that's why they need Pixar for those magical computer pixie dust :)

We always say it is run by a hampster on a wheel. Then when the site is down we always say GEE.....the hampster must be tired and isn't running today. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
