I'm trying to decide on the best time to go, DS's have watched the WDW planning DVd and are desperate to try the Water Parks, but are they open in February and more to the point will it be warm enough to use them in Feb. :confused3

I am not 100% sure but I think at least one of them will be open, warm enough? Maybe not, when we were at Discovery Cove last March it was quite chilly and the water was freezing.
You cannot guarantee nice weather in february, I would suggest you just play by ear and see what the temperatures are at the time.

We've been twice in February and it has definately been hot enough both times to visit the water parks. The water a bit on the cold side for me but the kids loved it! I just lay in the sun with a good book and relaxed.

Last year Typhoon Lagoon was closed for refurb and in 2003 Blizzard Beach was closed. Think they usually close one or the other this time each year.

:sunny:

This coming winter Blizzard Beach is closed late Oct ot late Dec then Typhoon Lagoon is closed from late Dec to possibly mid March. We are going over New Year and aim to go once if the weather is good :)

Claire ;)

We have been to blizzard beach and wet n wild in February and found the water to be ok. The kids love it, but i could do with it a bit warmer.

Kids do seem to be oblivious to the cold when they get anywhere near water don't they.
Realistically for us it's either got to be February half term and miss a week's school or Easter, but I've been told it gets very very busy then and I don't do crowds, love themeparks - hate queues, I decided on our last DLRP trip to never ever visit there during the weekend again, as much as I love everything Disney, life is just too short to spend an hour queuing for a ride in a flying elephant. :sad2:

So a February trip it is then :woohoo:

Jill, choose your February dates carefully - some parts are busy due to American holidays :)

Oh boy - this is complicated isn't it, nobody's mentioned February holidays to me before. :listen:
I was told to avoid March because of the student's Spring Break and April because it's just too busy, I'm far too much of a wuss to go during hurricane season, DH can't have hols between October and Christmas, so by a process of elimination :teacher: we might just be resigned to a long weekend in January :rotfl: or I could just dump the family and go by myself. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the advice Miffy, we'd be looking to tie it in with our schools' half terms, do you know is there a specific time for the American holidays ?

I'm not sure Jill - someone will know! I don't think it's for many days in Feb that the crowds go up, but thought I'd mention it so you would be aware. Is it President's Day??? Third Monday in February springs to mind. Might just mean you choose to tag your week out of school onto the end of one term rather than the beginning of the next (or vice versa).

We did Wet and Wild about 4/5 years ago in Feb and it was warm enough for all of us. Throughout the whole holiday we wore shorts and t-shirts in the day and it was defineitely warm enough to swim.

We did Wet 'n' Wild and Blizzard Beach in Feb '03 and on both days it was hot, hot, HOT!

Whilst as AndRu says the weather is probably on average very nice in February you cannot guarantee it.

Our Discovery Cove day last March was ruined by the weather, having waited for a 2 hour morning thunderstorm the water was freezing as the average temp through the whole week was about 60 degrees most mornings.

I think you just need to see what it's like when you are there.
