Disney wanting to sell it instead

I know about when there is a resale through another place other than Disney, Disney has the right to take on the sale. Say someone is selling their contract on the Time Share Store, can Disney take that whole sale and sell it them self. Or is it only, they step in, when they think a certain contract is selling too cheap? Make sense?
For instance say you tell Disney you want "so and so" resort resell. But at this present time Disney doesn't have any to sell. But on the Time Share there are some from that resort. can/will Disney take on that contract and sell it to me?
thanks!

When Disney buys back through ROFR they are actually buying the contract and selling to you. The big difference from your scenario is that Disney will not step in to buy a contract unless you already have a contract to sell it to someone else and then they use ROFR. But for the most part that is where they get their points from to sell as addons at sold out resorts. Another difference is that Disney can split up the contract into smaller pieces, you or I can't. It's either the whole thing or nothing.

Hope this helps.

It's my understanding that that is possible. However, DVC is likely to break the contract up and sell it as add-ons. From what I've read lately, they only exercise their ROFR if the price is very low. From what has been said about teh waitlist for points at certain resorts, they do not buy something re-sale ot sell bacjk to you.

For the most part, consensus seems to be that they only exercise ROFR to keep the value of DVC up.

Did that answer your question?

It would not be a direct pass-through with Disney grabbing the points you've contracted and then forcing you to buy from them instead.

What happens is that if DVC thinks the price you've negotiated is too low, they step in to buy it themselves at that price. At that point you can either counterbid or walk away from the deal. If you don't counterbid and DVC buys the points, they drop them into their own pool of points and then carve them up for whoever's on their waiting list for that resort. (They don't turn around and offer the exact same contract back to you at a higher price.)

Okay thanks guys, that did answer my question. I have been waiting for BC or BW through Disney to come through, and there isn't anything for us yet. But when I saw it through the Time Share, it seems frustrating to me, because it's right there. But I really prefer to buy through Disney rather then another broker.

Hi, are you saying that you see a resale that is exactly what you want but you don't want to buy resale? We went resale because Disney didn't have our use year for either VB or VWL last March and there was something in resale at VB that fit the bill. 3 months later Disney did have VWL points for us, but we had to pass, circumstances changed, just a bit, we're finished adding on for now.

So, even though it took longer, Disney eventually had the points for us. I hope your guide calls you up soon and tells you they have the points.
