You should be able to use the debit card for any "credit" card needs except a rental car! Good financial planning![]()
We actually used our debit card for our car rental on our last trip. All the rental company asked for ahead of time was for us to show them our return flight airline info. When we got there, they didn't even bother asking to see it. I thought it would be difficult to rent a car just using a debit card, but it was simple - no problems. Just check with the rental company first so you know what their policy is regarding debit cards.
. We actually use CC and pay off every month. We keep track of our spending the same way we would if we were drawing out of our checking account directly that way the money is set aside when the payment comes due. When we travel we use the CC that gives us the most advantages ie some CC's give you rental car insurance just for using that card to pay for the rental. Yes we have regular car insurance but it's always nice to know we have the extra coverage. When we use our CC to pay for something if someone gets the number, they're not going to clean out our checking account, which would be far worse than a fraudulent charge on a credit account.
- Just some food for thought.
