Disney vs Universal resorts

Thank you so much for all of the good advice. I am going to book Royal Pacific.

Good choice. We've only done Universal once and stayed at the Hard Rock. We were very pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed staying there. As others have mentioned, the Express Pass is awesome and being able to just walk to the parks was priceless. Enjoy your trip!

I have stayed at Cabana Bay for two weeks - visiting both Disney World and Universal. I thought the Loews resorts were well worth the price and would definitely book again. Even the "value" Cabana Bay was more along the lines of a moderate resort at WDW. The beds were super comfortable - fairly large sized room and bathroom. I loved the convenient transportation to Universal and driving to Disney was pretty quick all things considered. Next trip I want to book the Portofino Bay club level - think it is well worth the price. In general I think you get more for your money at Universal regarding hotels.

We are staying at Cabana Bay for 3 nights before heading to Beach Club. We have to drive back and forth a couple of times, due to not wanting to miss the Christmas stuff at Universal.

I'm glad to hear the "commute" isn't too terrible. How long would you say it took?

Our last trip to central Florida was to Universal only. We bought one AP and received a 30% discount on the booking at Royal Pacific in addition to food and merchandise discounts. The unlimited resort express pass is a huge value.

I've grown to enjoy the Universal vacation more than WDW because I don't have to stress with planning. We just ride the rides with very little waiting. And Royal Pacific is lush and relaxing.

Hmmm - I'm thinking 30 minutes - avoid high traffic times if possible would be my thought too.
