Disney VS Carnival

You know sometimes the truth hurts and you have to face reality. DCL's less than 2% of the cruise business does not strike me as being a huge hit with cruisers. When you say the Disney food exceeds the RCI are you talking about Palo's or Remy's, because the dining room park food is not close.

I would not call the aquaduck a water slide. It is a water ride. On slides you don't sit in something to ride it.

No Edd I was referring to the regular dining room and lunch buffet food being far better than RCCL's.

And you are right the Aqua Duck is a ride and no one has anything close to it :thumbsup2

Edd they only have 2% of the market because they only have 3 ships come on even you can understand this:confused3:confused3

Your numbers mean nothing. DCL had 2 ships. Now 3. They pretty much sail full. If that means that 2% of all cruisers are on DCL, they can't very well make it more than that unless they put people in the life boats. And so what? How many repeaters are on EVERY DCL cruise? Yes, people repeat on other lines, but if DCL was so awful, as you would love to have people believe, the repeat numbers would be lower. So your number is irrelevant. As to food, I have to say that some food on RCCL is good, some food on Disney is good. Some people You are RCCLs biggest cheerleader here, yet you continue to put DCL down. Rather than do that, why not just point out what you feel are the better points to the other line.

I have had 3 dinners at Palo, on the Magic, I found the food to be so so, the service was OK, but I was in general, not too impressed. However, on the Wonder, the food was as good as the 4 Stars that I have eaten in and the service was 5 star. I also ate in the Italian specialty restaurant on RCCL, the food was very good, the service was very good, but KIDS were allowed and to be, that was a deal breaker.

And you are right the Aqua Duck is a ride and no one has anything close to it.

I see everyone has their own thoughts on who's is better. When dining on Carnival and ordering surf & turf they come and drop my dish and say "Enjoy". When sailing on RCCL and ordering the same dish the waiter places it in front of you and asks if you mind if he takes the lobster out of the shell. For me the fine dining and extra's is what I enjoy. Other's may not, but when on a true vacation I love the pampering and extra's you get on Disney, RCCL & Celebrity. Carnival is still trying to get the party image away from its name.....Yes more families are going on them, but at $199pp for 7 days on an inside room it attracts different types of people......

I do. Carnival and RCI have built approximately 20 ships in the same time Disney has built 3 ships. That doesn't indicate much of a market demand for the DCL to me.

No, most don't have anything close to the aquaduck. They have water adventures better than it.

We will never agree on the food because I think CCL has the best food with RCI a close second. DCL and NCL may be third. I don't rate the pay restaurants as I don't usually frequent them.

Some how I do not think so...could you please provide some proof on this statement

Wow, well, for us, just having been on a Carnival cruise, I believe DCL has the best food, especially in the main dining rooms. And the best dining room experience. The rotational dining, to me, beats a bunch of waiters twirling towels any day!

No, I won't do the work for you. Just hit the internet and find out how many ships belong to Carnival and RCI have been built since 1999 when the Wonder was christened. The DCL has built 2 ships since the Wonder. Just RCI has that beat with three ships in the past 2 years. NCl has also built quite a few since 1999, probably more than Disney. So I would still say the DCL is not a big hit as some would hope. Four ships in 11 years when they have the money to build more. Their product doesn't seem to be as popular as others.

LTD just dropped in maybe he can find out for you.

No you are the one who stated the numbers so YOU back them up. Or did you once again start pulling numbers out of the air again.

Edd, would you say that Celebrity or Seaborn are not popular as they have very few ships and are not in the build new ships all the time mode? Get off the idea that DCL is not popular. Rather, they are conservative. They have a niche market that they serve and they serve it well. The Dream is proving to be as popular with DCL customers, both new and experienced as the Magic and the Wonder. Keep in mind that DCL is part of the Walt Disney Company and the focus is THeme Parks first and foremost. Where DCL comes in, in the total picture I don't know, I will have to read the annual report.

Please, don't come to a DCL focused message board and tell people that DCL is not as popular as RCCL or NCL or anyone else. With out numers to back up that statement, it is just your low opinion. If you want to continue to put DCL down, perhaps there are other boards out there that would serve your purposes.

Well, there a big hit to me! DCL that is. Otherwise, the numbers are meaningless.

I am still going to win the argument because the ships built numbers are going to be 3 or 4 times, maybe more, than DCL. I actually looked it up over a year ago you noticed I wrote approximately not exactly. Remember DCL may fill up two ships at 2800, but RCI has two ships they fill every week that makes up for maybe four DCL ships. Carnival has built 14 ships since 1999 and working on a 16th one. Do you think RCI has built 6 ships since 1999? Maybe you can find out.

RCI and Carnival do not engage in the business of theme parks, so why would they want to build theme parks. Disney is the theme park builder, no questions about it. Just like RCI and Carnival are the cruisers, no doubt about it.

How is anything as popular with 2% of the market compared to about 90% some other 2 share, get real. Disney theme parks have about 60% of the market and they are tops. I also like six-flags, but percentages show they aren't better than Disney. Cruising is a little different story.

So, are you saying you had a bad cruise on DCL?

I thought they had theme parks on their private islands? Small they are, but they are theme parks!
