Disney vloggers on Lighthouse Point

Chapek isn’t the fall for everything Disneys short comings are we not tired of that excuse now?
I’m actually defending him. I’m anti Iger return since he killed Galactic Starcruiser, which my family loved and could /should have been worked to make more affordable instead of crazy closure and tax write downs. It’s canary in coal mine for me from the high end.

No you can definitely meet characters! Check the app for times and locations

My buddy said you weren’t able to meet them all like how you can on castaway.

Last question I never really ask but where is shutters taking photos of people here if you know? Just at that Mickey Junkanoo structure and the character photos??

I have been scheduled on meet and greets so I’m not sure what your friend means.

Yes and there is apparently going to be other photo op places added in the future

Back to the topic of the vloggers:
When you bring something new to the market, especially if it is a product that differs from the rest of your work, you have to make sure your product is ready to be reviewed.

Press is not invited before opening night for a play or show for a reason. The show has to be ready, including the actors/crew be comfortable and confident in what they do.

Inviting vloggers to a product that is not ready and has issues is a marketing fail and a stupid business decision. Yeah, you can tell them it is not ready yet, but then you have to hope that they will be lenient and add a disclaimer to everything.

More and more people use YouTube, Insta and Tiktok to watch videos to get a feeling of what a place is like and if its for them. A picture is worth a thousand words, but a video is worth a thousand pictures. These first videos are now immortalized on the internet and will come up in search results.

I understand a cruise is different from a show, but it would have been wise to do a test cruise with a full ship, evaluate and have some time to make small improvements before they officially open.

Trust me, even the crew 100% agree

I get that Disney tried to create an environment as natural as possible. Still I think they should add some things like a mini golf course and maybe a small water park with some slides. Doesn’t have to be as spectacular and colorful as thrill island at CoCo cay, but if the slides have a neutral color like crusher gusher at Typhoon Lagoon I think it can fit in. Gives families something more to do.

From an environmental pov, they won't even place beach chairs on the beach, so they surely will not dig for the drainage, electricity and plumbing needed for a water coaster.

Yeah, there definitely won't be a water park or water coaster. Something like Pelican Plunge would provide another much needed activity option to the island, though.

This really hits the nail on the head. They do cast member/AP/DVC previews of new attractions at the theme parks all the time, so I don't know how it didn't occur to them to do something similar for Lighthouse point. In fact, in watching the Making of the Wish documentary, I remember at one point they talked about how the transatlantic sailing consisted of "friends and family" of disney employees who had worked on the wish, so they could get some feedback of the cruise ship before everything was ready for paying guests. That's good but probably a little too narrow to get a fair opinion--they probably should have included cast members more broadly and not just those who worked on the wish. The could offer a steeply discounted rate to be a guinea pig and provide feedback, pursuant to an NDA. Heck, if they want to extend the offer to folks like me who are loyal disney customers (DVC, currently Gold and soon-to-be-Platinum DCL) I think that would be a fabulous idea since I'd jump at the opportunity and I know and love the Disney product so could pretty easily spot what works and what doesn't, but I get how they might not want to do it because I'm the sort of person who also is willing to pay full price so they don't need to discount it for me to go. But regardless, they need a better system for previews! Vloggers are the worst possible choice for a test audience.

This kinda’ reminds me of the opening day of Disneyland, although on a smaller scale (with the exception of the scale of that darn pier 😉).
Seems like they coulda’ waited ‘til Oct. or Nov. or even early Dec., and had the place more finished and all decked out for the Holidays.
And yea, one of Disney’s specialties used to be “The reveal”. That pier is a reveal alright, with the main reaction bein’ “WTH…?!?!?!” 🤣

Excuse my very rudimentary iPhone markup, but Disney could have made that pier at least a few feet wider with similar (sturdy) covers and put benches along the railing at either end of the covers in the shade, and it would have been so much more appealing.
These are the kinds of details Disney set the bar on and prided themselves on in days gone by.

Maybe they couldn't though. If a storm goes through (and it eventually will), all shade material will end up in that ocean.

I don't follow vloggers (I really don't find them helpful) and the people whose opinions I did want (Scott from DCL Blog and Erin Foster over at TP) didn't get theirs out until way after the fly debacle.

Scott from DCL Blog did describe the fly issue occurring during his visit in his blog post.
