Thinking about applying for a Disney Visa.... Do you find out if you have been approved right away or is there a waiting period. We want to book another cruise while onboard in September and would like to be able to put the deposit on the Disney Visa. Thanks!

We applied online this weekend for the same reason - cruising 9/12 on Wonder. You do not find out online if you are approved. A standard message pops up that says you will hear back within 30 days. Hoping to have the card in 10 though, as that is industry standard.

Happy cruising!

I will be on pins and needles waiting to find out. We are also cruising 9/12. This will be our second cruise. DH is hoping to book a seven day for 06'.

Not a problem... last year we booked our DCL cruise with another credit card, as the Disney Visa hadn't come thru yet. As soon as we received it, I went back to the TA, who called DCL. DCL cancelled the deposit on the original card and placed it on the disney visa card, and we received the onboard credit.

I needed mine right away, as I wanted to take advantage of the $50 ship credit. They said I'd receive it in 10 days, and wouldn't give the # over the phone. I called a few days later, explained why I wanted it more quickly, and they overnighted a card to me, no charge.

(never did get the credit though; they considered having a group rate as a promotion, so wouldn't "combine" promotions...oh well... )

Does anyone know how many points you need for say a WDW vacation? I looked on the web site but it doesn't give any examples of how many points = what merchandise.

You get dream dollars (points) for charging things to your card,--they are just the same as disney dollars, i.e. you can use them for almost all food, your room, to pay for tickets, etc. However, you have to request a rewards card, then transfer your points to your rewards card. AND these cards expire, so be wary of transferring points too close to the expiration date!

I also applied for a card two weeks ago, and there was a number listed that you could call to see if you were approved or not. Look at the website, and perhaps it was there  I found out a couple of days after I applied that I was approved. I got my card today, and had applied a week ago Saturday.

Hope this helps!

:wave2:

TJHutch - I just applied for one about 3 weeks ago online and got it yesterday in the mail.

Thanks guys. Well I applied noticed they are offering double disney dream dollars for new cardholders.

You basically get 1 point for every 100 dollars spent. And 1 point will generally equal 1 dollar. So for a WDW vacation you're talking about spending BIG bucks on the visa - and I wouldn't want that bill!!
