Can anyone give me am honest opinion of the Disney Visa card? Is it worth it to open one? We're not going until Nov so I thought maybe we could rack up some points between now & then. Are the perks really worth it though?

Thanks in advance

We are going in November and I got the Visa just for the visit.
Were getting married so our money is pretty tied up so having the visa with no interest for 6 months on vacation purchases is pretty awesome. We signed up and go the $100 gift card which we applied to our trip and I plan on paying off the rest of our trip (except $25) which I will pay on the last date using my rewards.

You really won't rack up a ton of points but if you are flying it is nice because you can use the points to pay for your flights. Also, the discount on merchandise is nice and you can get food discounts at certain places on property. There is also a special meet and greet in Epcot for cardholders.

So, don't get it thinking you will accumulate a ton of points, get it for all the others perks!

I love my Disney Visa! It's paid for my family of 4's flights to WDW for the past two summers!

Aw, that's good to hear. This is our 1st trip but of course we would like to go back..so maybe we'll be able to if we can get discounts. Thanks for the info!!

We use ours all the time. We have gotten our flights free the last 3 years. The point accumulation is OK. I get the benefit of putting a lot of business expenses on it to help get the point balance up. The no fee card gives you 6 month free financing, discounts on purchases over $50 at most Disney stores and at the parks and shops and you get the exclusive photo M&G with free photo. I would say it is worth it to have. The Premium (what we have) card it really depends on your spending. You get an extra 1% accrued on groceries, gas and Disney purchases. If you spend enough that the points you plan to get are more than the fee , then yes. If not, then no.

We use our DV for EVERYTHING we possibly can (and pay it off in full every month, of course, or it's not worth it). We put any bill we can, plus use it primarily for everything we buy.

Basically, you get 1% per purchase (2% on some things), so if your grand total on the CC for the month is $2k, you'll get $20 in Disney Rewards Dollars. We average between $20-$40 a month in DRDs (:scared: when you think of how much we spend a month!!) One year when we went through fertility treatments, it almost paid for an entire stay at PopCentury! We've been saving for a while, and have about $1500 on it.

I usually use most of it to pay towards the trip around the 45 day mark, then whatever else accumulates between then and the trip I use for souvenirs.

Basically, for us it makes sense, because it's almost a forced saving towards Disney (vs. a rewards card with cash back), but once our kids get older, it' won't be worth it.

We use it for 10% discount at stores in WDW & Disney Store & disneystore.com for purchase over $50.

We use it for early booking of WDW discounts.

We use it for 0% financing for 6 months on Disney vacations (we usually pay it off every month...but if they let us keep our $$ for 6 months...we usually let them).

We use it some for the Disney Reward $$...but not a lot as other cards give us better % back.

I only put a $200 deposit on our trip so far so I figured I'll put that on there + our airfare & pay them right off. That will be about $5,000 in the 1st 1-2 months so that will help squire points. Plus we can use it for food shopping & gas each month leading up to our trip. That way hopefully by the time we go in Nov we'll have some points + the discounts. Yay! I'm excited! Hopefully I'll be approved. Sent away the application today
