disney visa

hhmm, is that still a disney visa? my son (who works for chase) didn't tell me about that.

I think that onemight be a little dangerous for me... if I start getting into the habit of payng for groceries or gas on a credit card...

I know you just need to be disciplined.. but there is a difference n the bills yo sit down and pay by check, and just running into the grocery store or the gas station....

Yes, it is still Disney Visa. I pay it off every month. We will put down $1200 for our upcoming trip in September just with reward dollars. There are better cards out there as far as rewards go, but we like the Disney aspect of it. Anything I can put on the card, I do.

We have earned thousands of dollars with the Disney Visa credit card. We charge everything we can on it and pay it off every month. We never pay interest so the rate does not matter.

We have one - I charge absolutely everything to it. (I don't even have an atm or debit card, lol!) But we don't spend more than we can afford, and it is set to auto-pay the full balance every month so we don't pay any interest.

The reward dollars cover almost all of our food at WDW, which is great, but I'll admit, I mostly just like seeing Tinkerbell come out of my wallet several times a day :goodvibes It's been a good conversation starter several times, like a secret code for identifying other Disney-fanatics.

As far as the discounts, it does give you a head-start when they are released, but I don't think it ends up making a big difference. The photo-op in Epcot is cool though. We didn't get a chance to do it last time, but we had one of our best character interactions ever there in 2010.

ETA - I have to say, Chase is by far the best bank I've ever worked with. I have several accounts with them, including the Disney Visa, and have never had anything but great experiences. On the phone, in person, or online, they have always been awesome.

I had cancelled my Disney Visa as I have other cards that pay better rewards, but recently had my DH open one when we got the $200 GC offer in the mail. That is the best reason to get a DV, in my opinion.

I get 3% cash back on gas and 2% on travel and dining with my Costco AmEx, and 3% on groceries with my Amex Blue cash. My SW Visa (also Chase) gives me better than 1% return in SW reward miles points.

I always pay my CC off every month, and have not had any problems with Chase customer service lately, I did several years ago.

The annual fee is for the premium card--you get 2% back on groceries, gas, and restaurants. For us, it is well worth the $49 per year.

Inherently I am so opposed to paying annual fees, I generally shred any offer that comes with one. We had the basic Disney Visa and when we got the offer to upgrade to the premium, it didn't take too many attempts to crunch the numbers to realize that the 3% I get (primarily) on gas/groceries is more than enough to offset the $49 annual fee.

What is nice and what you have to be careful for, is how the merchant is coded within visa. When we go to Target, I'm pretty certain that the merchant code that is assigned to Target places it in the grocery category and thus gives us 3% on anything we charge at Target.

I'm sure there are better reward cards out there, but I get so many comments when I pull out the Mickey Sorcerer Disney Visa, it would be hard to give up. And with nearly $1,100 built up and hopefully a trip in the not to distant future, doesn't make sense to stop using it at this point.

I use mine for everything that I would only get 1% back on and pay it off every month in full. I put last years trip on it and got 1% for that ($3000) and when I bought my car 2 years ago I put $2000 of the downpayment on it. Right there was $50 in free money that was used towards tips for our trip.

We just bought a new truck. I was going to have the payments deducted from our checking acct. Do you think Wells Fargo would let me make the payments with my Disney card and would the a Disney a Card consider that a cash advance and charge a fee or just a regular purchase?

I think it would depend on how the charge appeared on your statement. If Wells Fargo ran it through like a regular vendor payment, it wouldn't be deemed a cash advance, so there shouldn't be any add'l fees charged by Chase.

That said, I'd be very surprised if Wells Fargo allowed you to make payments via a credit card. If they did, I would pretty much assume that they would charge you a service fee (%) of each transaction to do it. Wells gets dinged twice, once when they ring up the charge and again when its deposited to their account, so I don't think they'd freely take on fees without recovering them somehow.

I think we had toyed with trying to make our mortgage payments with a credit card. Either we weren't allowed to do it, or the add'l was prohibitive enough to not warrant doing it.

This may be a stupid question but if I charge something, like my monthly bills and then pay it off same day would I still accumulate the points or does the balance need to be there for a while?

Your reward points are accumulated once per month based on what you've charged within that given billing cycle. When, how often you pay it off and how much you pay off should not be relevant, only what you've charged.
