If I buy my park passes with the Disney Visa does it give me 6 months to pay them off interest free, like it does for the room?

You don't get the 6 months deferred payments with a room only reservation. You only get it with a package reservation which means booking the tickets with the room. You get the defferment on the whole package.

Sorry to hijack, but another Visa question. Do you get ther rewards ( advance notice of promotions) only with the premier Visa card with the annual fee or also with the rewards card with no annual fee?

Thx

Both Visa rewards cards give you access to promotions. Note however that sometimes notifications of these take time to come. You will find out here when new offers come out.

Regarding the Premier card, to me it's worth it. I more than made the cost of the fee in additional reward points, specially since Disney vacations as well as other certain categories, give you 2% back instead of 1%. (In my area, Walmart and Target purchases earn 2% as they are considered groceries)

Currently there is (hope it not was) a promotion for a $200 Disney gift card if you apply for the DVR Premier. Not sure if an upgrade from the regular one to the premier would give you the GC.

When a DVR offer comes up, you have to pay the deposit with your DVR card (1 night for room only offers, or $200 for packages). The balance however does not have to be paid with the DVR card.

To answer OPs question, only packages (combined room & ticket and/or dining - those that require a $200 deposit and are due 45 days prior to arrival) qualify for the 6 months no interest. The deposit and any partial payments of $100 will qualify for the 6 months no interest, from the day the payment is made.

Room only reservations, ticket only purchases, or anything paid at the resort does not qualify.

Payments towards a cruise (of $100 or more) also qualify. Any charges incurred on the cruise itself do not qualify.

Hope this helps.

You get the exact same promotions and notifications with both.

You get the advance notice and rewards with both credit cards. You also get advance notice and booking with the Disney Visa debit card through Chase, you just don't get the rewards.

I appreciate everyone's replies. The problem is I already booked and put down a $200.00 deposit with another credit card. Would I have to cancel that reservation and rebook with the disney visa if new promotions come out? Also, i booked through a disney unlimited TA. I'm guessing she would need to do the cancelling and rebooking. Is this correct? I wanted to open a disney visa to pay off the rest of the trip and get rewards.

Thx

The travel agent would need to cancel and rebook (if you still wanted to use them).

If you are applying a DV promotion you would just need to put down a new $200 deposit (so you'd have a total of $400) when applying it. No need to cancel and rebook unless you want to! If you wanted to pay it off now and a DV offer came out later, since you'd put the bulk of the trip on your DV they won't make you overpay it for $200. You've already made a payment higher than that with it so you'd be fine :thumbsup2

I have a question. We made our deposit way back in Feb (before we had the Disney Visa) and plan to make the final payment--for the 6 months no interest--on the Disney card. I was told by Chase that we'd still get the promotion for it. Do you think I got the correct info?

You'll still qualify for 6 months no interest if it is a package and you're doing more than $100.

Thanks! And I just got off the phone with them (while you posted) and was told the same thing again. As long as my TA booked through Disney, we get the 0% APR for 6 months.

So if I book a RO through Disney it should be 2% back? That's what was unclear in the fine print since it said "at" Disney locations... Didn't know if that meant onsite only or if an online/phone ressie would count. I guess the charge would still show up as Disney on the statement, so that makes since!

Just got an e-mail back from my TA. aaarcher86, you are correct. She said that I can still keep the deposit with my other credit card and just make a $200.00 payment with the Disney Visa and that would qualify me for the "perks"-advance notice of promotions, etc.

thx again for your expertise.:)

Yay :thumbsup2 Enjoy the vacation and your card!

Can I see if I get this straight? We booked a bounce back while on a trip a few weeks ago for 2014. Put the $200 on another Visa. (One we use almost all the time due to 5% back on a number of items like gas). We do have a Disney Visa, but didn't have it along when the $200 deposit was made. Am I thinking right in that if I start using the Disney Visa to pay of next years trip, I'll still get the 0% APR for 6 months as long as the payments are for $100 or more and of course using the Disney Visa?

Thanks! Sorry for additional almost duplicate questions!

Yep, you've got it.

Correct - every payment of $100 or more towards the package will give you a 0% APR for 6 months for the payment.

You need to be aware of the balance due at the back of the statement to deduct the correct amount (as the balance could be lower if there were credits posted to your account).
