Is there a max points you can get a year? For example can I max it and pay it off serveral times a month to earn more points? Is there any purchase that does not allow points, like the IRS? :confused3 Thinking of useing it to pay taxes.

Thank you

I think the max per year is 750 reward dollars. Not sure on the IRS payment...do they allow cc payments?

There used to be a maximum number of points but they've removed that ceiling. You can earn as many points as you can earn.

As far as the IRS payment is concerned, you may want to look into how it gets processed. If it is considered to be a cash advance instead of a credit transaction, you do not earn points on it.

You do not earn points for cash advances, convenience check transactions, service fees, interest penalties or for payments made on account services like credit protection.

We paid our taxes with our Disney Visa back in '07 through Turbo Tax....and we did get the Disney Dollars for it!!! We were excited about it because we were on 0% at the time so we had it completely paid off before vacation!!!

I am glad to see there is no ceiling on points now. We are heading down on Dec. 22 and we are at over 700 DRR and we have been paying it off in full so it has been a great bonus.

thanks for that info...I didn't realalize they did away with the max reward dollars. We never get it that high though, since we split our cc's between Southwest Visa and Disney Visa.

Doesn't the IRS charge a fee for using a credit card that is greater than the 1% returned as reward points?

I can't use my Disney Visa to pay for my taxes or car insurance as they both charge fees for using credit cards (I do my taxes myself though so it may be different with something like Turbo Tax).
