Planning a trip to WDW in June and was wondering how does the rewards work that you accumulate on the Disney Credit Card? Any info would be greatky appreciated- I want to be eduated before I redeem some awards!
I would go to the web site for more info. Bank One was just bought out by Chase. So their policies are totally in flux right now - policies in place now can (and likely WILL) change! Typically, you get 1% back on your purchases. When you get to $20, you have to call in a request for your redemption card. It takes about 10 days to arrive, and it expires after one year (though untransferred points on your credit card don't expire for several years). The redemption card is easy to use - it works a lot like a department store gift card. Be aware though that this credit card has some pretty hefty late fees, and other bad stuff if you miss a payment. IMHO, the only way this card is a good deal is if you make certain to pay off your entire balance each month. If you aren't the type to do this, you might be better off with another type of reward card (air miles perhaps). This card does get some discounts though and periodic free Disney movie screenings. Hope this helps!
I just re-read your post - and it sounds like you already have this Visa, so my apologies if I've said thigns you already know. Once you have the redemption card, I think you can transfer over points in $10 increments (or perhaps a $10 minimum - it says on your monthly statement what the policy is), but I'm not positive. They will do the transfers over the phone, and your redemption account gets credited almost immdediately. New points only accure on your credit card with each billing cycle though, so new one's won't accure until your current billing cycle closes.
What is the web site to look over your redemption points? Thanks I just got a card and have started to use it. We are doing some home remodeling and plan on using it for all expenses to accumulate, but havent firgured out how to go online to check.
At this site I click on "manage rewards" from the drop down menu, find my new rewards dollars each month, transfer them to the Rewards card. I then applied the rewards dollars to an upcoming DCL cruise by using the card as a source of payment at Dreams Unlimited.
It is not $10 increments, it is a minimum of $10. I am a Day One Charter Cardmember, and I accumulated over $1000 of Rewards Dollars to apply toward my upcoming cruise.
The information you are giving is excellent!! One more question, What can these rewards dollars be used for at DisneyWorld? I am a complete idiot when it comes to stuff like this- all I know how to do is to charge on my credit card!!
Thanks for everyones help. I also an "not quite with it" So... How do I get my rewards? I know I access the web site, but should I let the rewards accumulate than get I big reward card? Is that how it works? They give you like a gift card type thing? And it has credit on it? Thanks for helping me to get it... Ü
You can do whatever meets your needs best. I have let mine accumulate and will transfer all of them to my rewards card soon as we're going to WDW at the end of March. Our rewards will buy one AP and part of another.
I just don't undertsand the advantage to having this card, when you can use a Discover card and not have any cap on it. Also you don't have to call or do anything to get stuff transferred. Seems alot easier than this Disney Visa.
When i transfer my reward points to my card, i then have that many points / dollars *credited* to my card, right? Or not? In other words, when i redeem my reward dollars, i don't receive a new gift card in the mail....or do i?
Sorry, it really has been a monday...... a chilly winter monday.....
Thanks.
1. order credit card
2. use credit card
3. Accumulate reward points
4. when ready to use reward points call and transfer reward dollars.
You will receive a card in the mail with points on it. (like a gift card)
(be careful there is an expiration date)
5. Use your rewards card like a debit card. (you have to keep track on how many dollars are left on it)
6. When reward dollars are low. Call bank one and transfer some more dollars to reward card.
I know people say whats the big deal? If you love disney, its fun.

No, you get one rewards card initially and you just keep transferring rewards to it as you want. When that card expires (a year or so later) you will have to get a new card.

Thank you poohj80! Now i get it! Also found my way to the website, registered and ordered my first card. Hope it arrives in time for WDW! Thanks again!
