Hi Everyone.
A rainy day here but who cares!
Just a thought: Think about this...the Disney Visa, like any other Rewards Visa is a, well, a money maker for Disney. It is for any company who's name is on a reward card.
Do you really get free money? That is the question.
I know many say they are getting money or points for money they would have spent anyway. However, think about this...
Let us say you have an average credit score and get a card with a $2,000 limit at 16.9% to 21% interest. Everyone's credit interest varies based on their credit score.
Now, you go out to dinner, buy gas, take a trip to Disney and charge $2,000 on your Disney card. Great you just earned 25 bonus points plus 20 extra points (1 point for every $100 you spend). Well, that's all good except one thing. You better hope to pay off your Disney Visa each month so you can start racking up more points. Most people DO NOT. Therefor, interest will kick in or a late fee, cash advance fee, etc....Then guess what? The points are not free. You are paying for them and donating a few pennies or percentages of the interest/fees to the company named on the card and the bank the card is issued under.
If you pay the minimum balance on a $2,000 balance. It can take you over 15 years to pay it off. You are not earning a lot of points are you?
I think the interest charges alone in that time frame would have paid for a lovely 7 day cruise for two.
So, one could be much better off and have, in the long run, a cheaper vacation by paying for most or a large potion of it in good old cash. You will have a lot more spending money in the end with cash. Just not as much fun, LOL. Do not sign up for a card if you want "free" points of prizes. You do pay for them.
Get a card simply to put off payments for a later date and have FUN!
This is just a thought and does not apply to everyone. Just something to think about.
1% return is not that great. See terms/fees of Disney Visa card fine print for more shocking facts.
