Disney Visa Reward question

I've searched for the answer to this question but cannot seem to find the answer anywhere. I know the rewards can be applied to the ship, but what about buying single day park tickets at WDW before/after cruise (having nothing to do with the cruise)? We are interested in spending a day in WDW and want to apply our rewards to the price of a single day ticket at either MGM Studios or Epcot (depending on who wins - my husband or me...)

You can use your Disney Rewards card when you buy the tickets - either at the gate, or at a Disney resort hotel.

When we checked in, I gave them that first... then all the other charges were taken first off our Rewards card.

Of course, we spent more than that, so they then went on to a charge card.
