hi all :) we're going to have a fairly sizable (for us, anyway) disney visa reward dollar balance when we go to wdw in september-can we use our reward card to pay for food at counter service places? do snack carts take them? i'm sorry if this has already been asked, i'm new to this disney visa thing, i've only had it 2 months, lol. TIA!! :goodvibes

i'm so sorry, i've just realized i posted this on the dining plan board instead of the main restaurant board, i don't function too well before lunch.

My apologies as well, if this thread appears elsewhere....

In 2005, we used the Rewards Card for CS.

However there were system troubles at Chase (don't ask...but suffice it to say Chase totally blew it!), and there were the usual differences in now a CM reacted to the card's use. Some wouldn't bat an eye at swiping the card, while others needed a "little gentle prodding" (read, escalated the issue to the manager) to allow the card's use.

(Editoral: I really wish WDW would gather ALL the On-Stage CS folks and get them all on the same sheet of music pertaining to these issue-types.)

Anyway, in the end we were able to use the Rewards Card where we wished...even where the manager was consulted.

Now that I've vented, I feel so much better.......

The Rewards Card works anywhere owned by Disney that takes VISA debit cards. That's pretty much everywhere with the exception of a few places (like the vendors who walk around selling glo stuff before the fireworks or the ballon vendor on Main Street).

ETA: We did have problems in the store in Japan in April 2005. They were not equiped to handle the rewards cards. However, the CM did explain that they were due to be brought online with the other stores "very soon".

We went down with about $500 on the card and we used it everywhere. I am so glad that we got it because it was so convenient. No one gave us any trouble at all, although some of the cast memebers thought it was a credit card rather than a debit card. Make sure you show your Disney Visa card at the World of Disney at Downtown Disney if you buy anythgin there. You don't have to use it to purchase, but if you show it you will get 10% off. At least they were doing that in May.

The only thing you will have to worry about is keeping track of your balance. If you try and purchase something that is more than the balance on your card, the card will be rejected. But if you tell them something like, "The card has a balance of $25, and I will use cash for the remaining balance" you will be just fine. Enjoy!

I think the easiest way to use the card is to charge everything back to your room. Then the night before you leave, take the card to the front desk and they will apply it against the bill. You don't have to carry it or keep track of how much is left. And boy, does that credit look great when you open that envelope!
