I know Disney does the 6 mo. interest free on vacation packages and the offer I just applied for says 12 mo. interest free on "certain" purchases...so here are my questions:

1) If I bought just passes (no package or hotel stay) and used my card, would this fall under the "certain" purchases and be 12 mo. free?

2) If I put the deposit for our next cruise on the card, would this fall under either interest free category?

I figured someone on this board would help me save some money - more that I can spend on souvenirs:idea:

I can't answer your direct questions, but when I put my WDW vacation package deposit on my card, it qualified for the free interest. I think you must purchase from one of the Disney travel companies to qualify.

Cruise should, park tickets alone should not.

Ticket purchases and room only reservations do not qualify, Package reservations (room and passes) and cruises do qualify. You must put the deposit and the final payment on your Disney Visa card.

I just received my card in October and I called them to see what the interest rate was because I couldn't find it in any of the info that they sent me. The person I spoke with told me that all purchases would be interest free for 6 months and then the rate would be somewhere around 12%(?~I don't have it in front of me) It might be different for everyone but I would just call and ask.

I just purchased my park hoppers at the DS with my Disney Visa and the woman said I have 6 months no interest to pay for them.

A cast member at TDS told you that? You had better check the terms of your card, I am 90% positive that it only applies to cruise vacation and packages.

I thought the same thing. Actually thought it was for your first package only. I didn't say anything to her, just smiled. I'm paying it in full when the bill arrives anyway.

Something to think about...
You can call ANY credit card company and ask them to lower your rate. Just ask to speak to someone with authority to lower rates. Tellk that person you are considering switching to a lower rate card, and they will almost always do it. I got mine lowered to 7%.

I got this tip from the wonderful book "the automatic millionaire", which was featured on oprah.

Thanks for all your thoughts.

I decided to call the company that had the offer - Chase Manhattan. They have a specifically "Disney" agent who gave me the answers. You may be interested...

The particular card I applied for has 12 mo. interest free. YES - I can use this to purchase my tickets and have no interest for 12 months! Like the other cards that offer this, I could buy anything (except cash withdrawals) and have the 12 mo. interest free applied. This is great news for me since the only way I'm convincing DH we HAVE to take another trip in February is if I can pay from it entirely from my salary - I'm a teacher in Louisiana...need I say more?!?!

Also, about the cruise...I can put the deposit now and have 6 months interest free (or if I do it when the card is first issued 12 months) and then when I put the balance, another 6 months interest free on that amount. There is one requirement - this is only on vacations booked directly through Disney! I'm going to search around and see how much I'd save going through another agent.
