We really love our Disney rewards visa. We have two accounts, one is the flat 1% non annual fee non premier free card, and one is the premier $49 annual fee that has 2% on Disney, Gas, Groceries and Restaurants and 1% everything else. We got a $50 bonus gift card when we signed up for the free card and put our cruise on it and got 6 months same as cash (the only way we would have been able to go on our cruise at all!) and then we got $200 bonus gift card when I opened up the Premier card in my own name. That was $250 right there, we did get $50 OBC on our first cruise, this time we got a 10% off coupon so we couldn't combine them (but its better than the $50 anyway). Since last March when we opened it, we have gotten at least $800 in rewards or incentives, probably more. Our cruise was half paid for in rewards/bonus cards, and then when we posted ours and Twinkie's cruises along with all the groceries and gas etc., than we had $175 to use towards our Disney tickets (almost a free ticket for one of us!) and we are looking to finish the rewards here soon, redeem them and take them for our EPCOT anniversary dinner.
The card isn't perfect, but no other card ensures that I get to have this kind of fun. We have had good success with our American Express Delta card (flights, miles, and companion vouchers), but not everyone can take AmEx. We still have that card. However, we kicked the Captial One Venture card to the curb. We never got ONE flight, not even one piddly mile with that thing. I'm SO much happier with my Disney rewards card than that thing. I have had mostly good customer service with Chase. One time I accidentally selected the wrong account to pay out of and bounced everything and they took pity on me and reversed an interest payment to help offset some of those fees. That was nice, and not something they had to do. On the other hand, don't ever use them for a Money Gram or money transfer as they charge a minimum of $10 every time for that or a percentage. Blah. Pass on that.
Additionally, we do get some perks for having it. I'm looking forward to getting our exclusive Character photo at Epcot with our group. We should have a lot less of a line and we get free photos (I get 2 because I have 2 accounts). Specials get sent to our email (like rooms at 30% off before released to the public) or spa specials at Aulani or even broadway tickets to Alladdin at a discount or something. Some of the lunches at various restuarants are discounted, some of the Disney online merchandise has a discount and the parks gets like $10 off for a $50 purchase or something to that effect.
I think the biggest perk is that you HAVE to use it for Disney (which is fun!) vs just cash back or something (I know, heaven forbid) "practical", and I like that it means my honey and I are going on a
Disney cruise for $600 and that INCLUDES gratuity, taxes and fees.
Also, we are seeing if our On board credit that we posted on them ahead of time is going to show up as 6 months interest free. I think it will, even if my Disney rep isn't sure and thinks it won't. I'll find out for sure next week, but that means that all my excursions and Palo would be same as cash for 6 months too, which will be great. We booked the sea lions again! I think they stand a good chance of being free finance because it processed as
DCL Reservation and anything that has posted that way has been deferred, so I'm hopeful! That means we can enjoy some of the 'better' excursions because we have six months to cover it if necessary. However, when I went to buy the tickets, they were not deferred financing. But I did get $175 off with my rewards!
Good stuff to me!
