hello all!

i just recieved an offer in the mail for a free $200.00 WDW gift card if i sign up for a Disney Visa and Charge $500.00.

my question is, Has anyone done this? what is the gift card good for? is it easy to use?

reason i ask.... my family (wife, Daughter 14, Daughter 16) are going to WDW this Aug (staying at BC). If the card is easy to use, and it is able to be used in a variety of places, this is a no brainer.

The $500 that i need to charge is a piece of cake! i use my visa all the time for business. What i am thinking is get the gift card, close the account after i go to disney. that way, i can continue to pile the points on my Southwest Visa for free flights.

any guidence / help would be appreciated!!!

Yes I have the Disney Visa and did get the $200 gift card. I used it to pay the down payment on our trip. I also know people who have used them for dining and souvenirs at WDW with no problem. Just make sure you sign up soon so you have time to receive you card, and make your $500 charges. I can't remember how long it took to get my gift card but I know it wasn't more than a month.

We did this a few years ago for DH's business, when we already had a Disney VISA for personal use. You can use the gift card almost anywhere at WDW, including places like Wolfgang Puck's. You might consider keeping the card though, as there are often deals for card holders. There's no annual fee.

I have used my Disney Visa card for 3 years now and love it. I use the 300 points a year (earned) for Disney trips, dining and even towards airfare. If you love Disney and go there often, it's a good deal.

Ha I got the same offer last Friday after booking a trip in August through AAA on Wednesday. I am definitely signing up tomorrow. My first choice card is currently a Chase Visa Signature I purchase everything I can on and pay off monthly so I can accrue points..got 109,000 right now. However, I might elect to keep this new Visa one open.

I use my Disney visa all the time. I love it!

Besides the gift card, when you have earned enough, they send you a rewards card. You can call the automated service anytime and add rewards points to it. It acts like a gift card as well. You can bring it to Disney and use it as a charge card, or I just go to concierge and have them apply it to my room balance and use my room key for charges. You can use use it online o pay for your wdw or cruise line trips.

You also earn more points if you use it at Disney, an you get discounts at Disney with your Disney visa.

Not sure I would bother if it is your one and only trip, but if you go on any regular basis (at least once every couple of years), its a great way to finance your trips!

The gift card is literally a standard Disney Gift Card for $200. It can be used anywhere that accepts Disney Gift Cards...which includes your trip itself, Disney Store (online and in person), and pretty much anywhere in the parks that accepts credit cards (vendor carts might not take them). We signed up for the Disney Visa for this offer...only used the card for groceries, and in a month earned our gift card. Once we hit the $500 mark, it was automatically mailed to us in about a week. Depending on how often you go to Disney, and how you use the card...the rewards points might or might not be the best benefit...but if you're planning a trip, this offer is essentially $200 in your pocket for however you want to spend it at Disney.

I LOVE my Disney Visa card. It gets me months no interest financing on all Disney travel packages, including cruises. My rewards paid for all on-board charges on my last cruise. You get discounts at select restaurants and tours and a character meet & greet with a 5x7 photo at Epcot.

We did this about a year ago and got the $200 gift card very quickly. We used it to pay deposit on our package. I've also received more points and will redeem for gift cards, plus I got discounts and free shipping through Disney Store by using the card. Not sure if we'll use any of the card perks while in the parks, but we've earned about $350 toward our vacation, so the card was a great deal for us!

The only negative to taking advantage of the offer would be that it is $500 less in charges you would have put on another card for a different type of reward. In any event, no card will reward you $200 for $500 in charges.

The card is that easy to use...as soon as you get the disney gift card, cancel the disney credit card if you don't want it.

We use two cards throughout the year. One is our airline card...once we have accumulated about 50,000 miles/points, we use that to book our airfare on our next Disney trip.

At that point, we primarily put everything on our disney card until our disney trip and use the reward dollars for purchased while at Disney.

Once we return home, we start the process all over and start loading up the airline card. On average, it saves us $800 in airfare and about $400 in disney reward dollars for something that costs us nothing out of pocket. Just have to be diligent in paying it off each month.

Don't mean to hijack but has anyone signed up for the Disney Visa in the park? My sister did and got some kind of perk but I can't remember. And this was a few years ago. If it is nothing more than the $50 gift card I will do it online and pay off school books to rack up Disney points.

Thanks to any answers!! :D

IF you check the Visa website, it will give you the info on how to sign up.

For us, the $200 gift card required the premier card, which does have an annual fee (though I think it was waived for the first year). I think the fee is $49/year after that, so just keep an eye on it if you're not getting a significant benefit.

thanks all! since i do pay my full balance every month it sounds like $200.00 for very little effort!!

thanks for all the replies!!!

Anyone have insight on how to get the $200 gc if you didn't get the offer in the mail? When you go to the website to apply, the premier card only offers $100.

Yea I would also like to know this. I am waiting for mine to come in the mail,I was just approved today. But the website says I receive a $100 gift card after spending $500 in the first three months. Where does the $200 gift card factor in ?

Me too! I want to apply for this card but am trying to hold out for a $200 offer.

I know for us, we got the offer after booking our trip at AAA. It had to have been tied to that to "randomly" get a disney visa car offer in the mail like a week after booking.

Yes, the website is $100 GC so I think you have to get the one in the mail to be eligible for the $200.

We took advantage of it and simply used it to pay for the trip (then promptly paid off the card with tax refund). We're holding onto the card for park perks when we go
